Didn’t he turn into a statue and then they put them back? But then if he absorbed “all” the energy wouldn’t they be powerless I guess? I’m assuming your talking about the Robotnik reigns supreme arc?

In the 'Robotnik Reigns Supreme' story? I always assumed that it was because Robotnik had the power of a God and could keep it up in the air if he wanted to. And since Knuckles was working on his side, he wouldn't have had any reason to not keep it in place. What about when he was incapacitated in the cyrstal form? :/ Edit: Doh, yeah, the Reigns Supreme Arc.

Aliens did it.
Either that, or Robotnik was fully conscious inside the crystal cocoon, able to use some of the emerald's powers, while adapting to the others, and kept the island in the air because if it fell it could damage the process or something or other. I'm just theorising of course.

On the whole Emerald power thing, look at Marvel's M'Kraan Crytal. A shard is as powerful as the whole thing, because you can't "define the space that contains infinity."

Because Kitching made [censored] up as he went along. Od-job ain't joking, folks - a bunch of Nigel's pitches are up on the old STC e-group, there's lots of vague "maybe" ideas in them. It's probably a sensible way of working on a licensed title. My memory is a bit vague on some of this but when I wrote a story I wanted to enjoy the writing experience and take advantage of any inspiration that came up along the way. I never liked the idea of working out every little detail in advance and then writing exactly that story. That would have been a dull activity and I wanted to keep the writing as fun as possible. I think this helped the stories have a kind of energy they would have lacked otherwise. On the other had I clearly remember, on more than one occasion, getting to part four of a six part story and having no clue how I was going to end the thing. I was in real trouble with that Knuckles slave ship story for example. Nigel

Oh god, I saw that you had replied and had a mental image of you spewing a vitriolic mass with the firey rage of a million exploding suns in my direction D: Cheers for the insight, Nige!
