I think they could use more Knuckles and they should improve Amy's character. It would be much better if they did both! I haven't tried to play unleash on Wii but on PS2 it felt a little like playing an old Crash bandicoot level. It was nice.. Don't you mean redesign her character? The outfit, voice and personality. Not looking for some butch, badass Amy but one that actually has some personality and brains.

On the Sonic Colours front I like the look of the game, and like Sonic Unleashed daytime looks to offer decent levels of fun, even if it is a little shallow. The best part seems to be when it turns 2D and increases the platforming and twitch gaming.
I've heard the controls are actually really good EXCEPT the drifting which is supposed to be mediocre as backed up by the video footage that seems to have every player fluff up their drifting. There's still time for Sega to fix this if they're not too lazy/stubbon.

Personally I can't wait for colors...between it and sonic 4, I'm glad to see sonic games get a lighter tone again. As much as I love Evil Godlike Elementals, Experiments, & Evil Aliens...its nice to see Robotnik Just bieng Robotnik again.

C'mon we all remember the grilling Unleashed got given. Sure, it was okaaay, but it wasn't quite a Sonic game. It was really... slow, for one thing. Yet some of the members here ended up liking it, for one reason or another.
And this one, practically no Badniks. Lots of pretty scenery. Fans will like it or hate it either way. It's true, that the gameplay is aimed now at a very exclusive group, but their purpose has changed over the - wow, almost 20 years - that Sonic's been around. It was originally designed to break boundaries, to be something innovative and original, that any age group would appreciate.
But now they've realised that a new generation is coming in, which generally likes the generic, pretty, meaningless games, and so they feed them the same thing over and over again while screwing their old-school fanbase.... which would be, uh, pretty much the polar opposite of the first... At least they think to 'run with a good thing'. Sonic's their cash-cow... (cash-hedgehog?) and there's no sense in making something new to cater to the new fans when they can milk him for all he's worth. Look how well NiGHTS was recieved with the kids! So, for their target audience, they're probably doing the best that they can. For their loyal fanbase, you can expect another ulcer-causing tear-jerking game.
Okay, that's probably enough ranting from me. ^^; However, if you want 2.5D goodness, combined with stunning scenery, location, enemies, and plot for Sonic, then you'll have to look... outside Sonic Team. Outside SEGA.

Sure, a PC game, but definitely something more than we've seen from SEGA in a while. Oh, and they're bringing back Mighty, too. You shouldn't let the kiddies play this. It's rated M. At least someone knows their fanbase...

I recalll even as a kid, a kid is so determined to beat something they pretty much don't care for game physics, only beating the level. Plus once a kid gets into it, they master it quicker then adults do. Wow I remember playing the old Sonic games for the first time in a while and wherein I had pixrl perfect reflexes, their not so good anymore. Its not just me, but a number of my friends comment on it. turbo; I'd rather play the new Mortal Kombat game, now Warner not Midway owns the company, the team were bumped with $100,000+ to get their gear up to date so they were working on todays standards and not a decade ago standards. Part of the problem of the previous MK games being **** was that they were working with dated equiptment and they actaully hadn't been paid since 1999 - they went for a DECADE without being able to do much in other words. Plus, they are also no longer being forced to be the companies cash cow and instead of aiming for a X-mas release, unable to iron out all of the bugs, they've got (I think) a March release. This is the first game in a long while they has much promises. And on top of that, since Warner only bought up Midway for Mortal Kombat, they've pumped it up further in promotions and other things. Basically Warner is willing to make it work while Midway were running on empty credits since the late 90s, I'm surprised they lasted a decade before bankrupting themselves. The only thing that had kept them alive were the sales of MK, which was quoted by them as being worth more then their debt. To the point where they orginally just wanted to sell their cash cow off to repay the debts but only were stopped by being told for their executives to get the most bonus they had to sell the entire company off. Ironcally, this is the difference between a company using a franchis as a cash cow (like SEGA uses Sonic) and a company who really want it to become an investment in the further for further developing. Warner's already had one movie pitch froma direct who REALLY wants to make a MK movie, okay it was bad, but Warner also wants a movie to be made... Sadly their in a lawsuit with Theshold Entertainment over the last two (awful) movies as it is (ironically theshold are also going bust and just want a piece of the new MK pie). MK fans remark; we don't want that company near our franchise (lol). Thats why if Sonic was ever sold off from SEGA, I'd pray for it to go to more decent hands.

I'd heard of this, but last time I checked, there were no vids. It looks surprisingly not terrible. Except for the jumping animation.

I am looking forward to this, frankly. Although it doesn't look like we'll see momentum mechanics in it, it looks fast, vibrant, and I like the shouty voice. "SPIN!" "LASER!"
Only problem is it looks a bland level design-wise. Hopefully it gets a bit more hectic in the final version, or in later levels.

It appears as though they've taken what was good about Sonic Unleashed, and then concentrated on that. This looks rather promising so far, it appears Sega are finally starting to take heed and turn over a new leaf with the franchise. This is the first Sonic game I've properly looked forward to in quite a while.

Well that's a very idiosyncratic point of view. No bad thing, but in my opinion, the day stages were fun-but-heavily-flawed romps which look to be improved on, and the Werehog wasn't bad, just dull.

Both types of level had quite long lengths for Sonic levels IMO, but in the case of the Werehog levels, they really felt long due to their pacing and enivronment (and in a few cases were considerably longer, usually due to fake difficulty i.e. the bloody balancing beams in the Chinese level).
I just hope they don't end it in the way they did with Unleashed, with its marathon level which took about 50 or so minutes to complete. And that's not including numerous extra attempts from lives lost and such. What about the case of any children whose parents restricted them to an hour a day on consoles? They'd never finish this level because they'd be taken off at the end of their time!
I have to say the development team's "Final Boss" department has been getting very overzealous recently, gradually more and more. The Unleashed end section, that is the level itself and long series of "Last Boss I Promise This Time" sequences, was nothing short of ridiculous. Even Sonic 06, unspeakable mess that it was, wasn't (quite) that bad in it's final boss design. Still overly long, though.

the problem with the werehog stages was simply that there was no innovation on the style! For me it felt a little bit like playing an old Crash bandicoot or spyro game...not really sure why, but it had some points in comon! Said that...
I'm happy to see the daytime mode of Unleashed is back because It was simply great! Great music, great enviorment, and even if some say it seemed slow, I think that it was preety fast (if you know how to properly use sonic...that is!). The onlly dought I have is about the little aliens that change sonig giving him super boosters: wont it seem too much Mario with the flower or the leaf or the mushroom? Expecially now that with Super Mario Galaxy Mario has A LOT of trasformations, I'm worried this could seem a bad copy!
Mabe it's because I'm onee of the youngest in here.....but you know I practeclly grew up with Sonic I'm 17 now and I started playing Sonic games when I was 4 with Sonic the hedgehog 3. I always followed the games, Sonic is almost like a brother to me, really! But looking back to the old games, they sure were cool, but now growing up it feels like they're really PAST! I used to like Super Mario games, but now I don't because it's like it's always the same old thing just with different grafic!
Personally I like Sonic because he REALLY has a personality and has a story and says what he thinks! Now I really don't except any kind of game that doesn't have a good story to support it, a great grafic and most of all a gameplay that changes with time and it doesn't actually feel like you're doing the same thing again and again! The reason I like Unleashed so much it's because of it's plot! and of all the old games (megadive era) the one I prefer is surely Sonic CD, because it's the one with the most complexed plot (for how complexed that could be)! Mabe you grown up prefer a more simple thing, and mabe kids rather something easy they don't have to waist time with it and arrive to the end easly, but for my age, I don't know the points I said before are important for a game...otherwise it seems too childish!
I just hope "colors" doesn't become bad copy of Mario Galaxy! T_T

I like the techno-rave interlude that plays when he's doing his digging thingy (though I expect much of the fanbase will probably come to loathe it, what with it being a techno-rave interlude, in a Sonic game). I have an urge to loop that clip and paste Technohead's "I Want To Be A Hippy" over the top of it. Actually, give us that clip, I've got a brilliant idea... might not work, like

Sonic doesn't even look like the same character anymore.
Edit: Just watched the Tropical Paradise gameplay vid. Sheeeesh. Nice looking for a Wii game, but that level design is just pitifully bland. Still excited for the DS effort.

Would have thought this would have been posted by now. Besides the obvious "why not Sonic and Tails?", this looks interesting at least. So long as the levels are well-designed. Liking the chiptunes an' all.

...dear me. Did the level artists quit?
Also, I'm not seeing anything in this that remotely requires co-operative teamwork.
Aside from the whole Chaotix item...but that looked more like a restriction than a bonus.
