Well, yes... and this is what I mean about Futurama. People whine about the "new" writers (most of the original team is still there!) and how the episode quality has gone down, but in all honesty the original series had some pretty [censored] episodes (Where the Buggalo Roam sends me to sleep!), and the four feature length episodes weren't that great either. Personally I think its New Cola Syndrome!

*Holds nose*
Hi, I'm Richard Ayoade, and this is all I do. Deliver my lines nasally. Yes, I know, it's not particularly funny, but then again I am dreadful.
*Release nose*
It's the fact that he's awful. He does everything poorly. He has no timing, no range. There's nothing there besides that voice, which is a vague attempt at an eighties working man's club comedian's impersonation of an "anorak". It's all so completely inexplicable what the people he works with see in him or how they think his presence will add anything.

From this list, I can only deduce that Friends is the next choice. He said he'd do none of the live action stuff I did on my years-old thread. Hence Friends won't be appearing at all. Friends surely wouldn't be worthy of a place anyway, for the same reason as the likes of Simpsons and South Park, once funny series' being tainted by later mediocrity, Friends is a prime example. It had 3 good series, 2 decent ones and then 5 series of utter pants! Series 7 was especially poor.

Honestly, I've never made the distinction between the series of Friends. Then again, I never sat and watched it all in sequence; just saw a lot of episodes in the wrong order. It's a time-filler series, and it works really nicely for that purpose.

I actually like much of what I've seen him in, yet I can't for the life of me think why this is, because he's much the same in every role he plays. Man To Man with Dean Learner is, for example, a series I particularly enjoy. Not for Ayoade's performance as the title character, which is pretty poor, but for co-star Holness's portrayal of the various personas throughout the series, and the format of the show as a whole which provides a considerably more varied and interesting mix of qualities and humour than Darkplace. He's a lucky bugger for making it as far as he has, I think.

It's a time-filler series, and it works really nicely for that purpose. It suffered from the same lethargy as Frasier did when they shoved Daphne and Niles together - they essentially paired off the characters and it wasn't as funny any more. In fact, it was rather nauseating. In my opinion, at least. Also; I never found Man to Man with Dean Learner that funny. Sometimes it was just boring. On occasion I will chuckle at the IT Crowd but its not laugh out loud funny.

Here's a clue as to the identity of the next show, which will up for the weekend:

Just read the thread, and I have only one thing to add:
Jackass is comedic prostitution: Anyone can get it and get what they want out of it, but it's only spreading a disease and reinforcing bad habits.
As for Family Guy, Mitch pretty much summed up anything I would of said. Only he said it more clearly, and with a feminine touch.
ON WITH IT. SHADIC IS NOT IMPRESSED SO FAR AND THATS WHAT YOU'VE BEEN HIRED TO DO.

Ugh, can't say I'm a fan of Jackass or shows of that ilk. To be fair though it is better than its imitators.

So, uh... I haven't abandoned this. I'll be honest, I'm in a slump and a half. It's coming, eventually.

I'm cutting down the length of these - would never get it done otherwise! Thanks for your patience. Choice #3 - The Adam and Joe ShowYou know when you see a particular show, and it's so utterly in tune with your tastes that it becomes yours? Weeeell, The Adam and Joe Show was that for everyone. A mixture of candid camera style pranks - though not malicious ones - comedy sketches, semi-improvised skits and songs, ensured every episode was different and hilarious. A wonderful DIY feel and great use of guests in the Vinyl Justice segments (Adam and Joe intrude on a celebrity's home to criticise their record collection) - I'll never forget Mark E Smith's appearance. Adam's dad made excellent appearances reviewing aspects of popular culture in "Baaadaaad". A different film or TV show was sent up in plush style by the "Toymovies". Overall a very warm, very funny show. Doesn't get nearly the credit it deserves. All four series are on 4oD last I checked, and there's a brilliant "Best Of" DVD available that's probably the best comedy DVD on the market. I highly recommend you get it in.

Used to love the Adam and Joe show, but as I got older and saw them doing (the few) other things they did, I could never be quite sure if it was just 'cos I was a child and it was extremely immature humour or 'cos it was genuinely funny.
Maybe I'll hit up 4OD and find out some day...

Still love A&J, recently watched a load of episodes on 4OD myself and still found them as funny as I did when I saw them the first time round. Among my favourite bits were the "can we just take the free bits" video (when they walked into a local shop and actually had the balls to start helping themselves to the "extra free" parts of stuff) and one where Adam was doing his guide to the internet.
How does this relate to Jaffa Cakes, though?

it probably relates to the fact that the box has 100% extra free...

I think the only thing I used to watch this for was the Toymovies skit. I don't remember anything else about the show. Maybe if I see it again through adult eyes I'll be able to appreciate the whole thing.
