Not to undermine the team spirit, but probably not for another couple of weeks. We've been having a bit of bad luck with the scheduling over the last wee while - it's pencilled in to be recorded about this time next week, and then it's up to Luke to go through the rigours of listening to our voices and trying NOT to masturbate. Seriously glad you're enjoying the show, dude!

If we get it recorded next week then hopefully it'll be up the fortnight after, we only have about 60mb storage free for the next three weeks! On the flip side, I'm editing episode nine now so hopefully there'll be no delay there and episode ten is already edited, which also buys us a bit of time.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know, the other day I had some penciling to get done, and I just could not be bothered. I usually listen to Podcasts while I work though, so I thought "okay, I'll check my Podcasts. If I see a new one, I'm buckling down, if I don't see a new one, I'm taking the day off". Which was pretty much just my excuse to be lazy, because I wasn't expecting there to be a new Podcast up. But there was! (And it was yours, what a twist).
Anyway the point is I managed to get a lot of work done because you guys perked me up on a day I just did not want to get out of bed. So thanks for that.
Also Johnny's weapon is called a quarterstaff. Quarterstaffs are usually made of hardwood, unlike Johnny's metal one (I imagine that thing must be extremely heavy to carry!) essentially the European version of the Japanese hanbo, which is itself a shorter version of the bo staff, the weapon used by Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Robin Hood stories also mention quarterstaffs quite a lot. I was a rare fan of Johnny Lightfoot. I always thought his metal quarterstaff looked cool.

I don't wanna sound like I'm bragging as I was in the last one, but yeah the podcast has definitely done this for me too. I've managed to stay late, motivated to work in the lab because I had the podcast on in the background for me to giggle along to, and I'd also like to say that after having a couple of weeks, nay... nearly a month of feeling worse than ever, hearing myself and some friends chatting about STC really perked me up too. I'd love to be a guest again, for sure! :3 Also cheers for the info on Johnny's Big Stick. I remembered afterwards that the Gladiators version was called a Pugil stick. *shrugs* The more you know! I'm not sure whether Johnny ever referred to it as anything but a "staff" in the comic.

Glad we can cheer you guys up! Funnily enough, a comic book podcast that helped me feel better when I was feeling down a few years back actually served as the inspiration for the project that eventually became STP! I'm glad we're able to give back to you guys

Happy new year, Boomers! We're opening 2014 as we mean to go on with a brand new episode of Sonic The Podcast! This time, we're covering the very first Sonic's World story that ran from issues 25-27, which covers a few things we've already looked at, but does also fill in some blanks for the readers. sonicthepodcast.libsyn.com/episode-009-welcome-to-sonic-s-worldNext time, Shay, Stiv and myself are joined by Summer of Sonic organiser and STC-O art contributor Adam "T-Bird" Tuff as we dare to relive issues 1-6!

Aww, Robofox and day of the badniks are stories I have fond memories of (turns out I really like stories with robots - who knew!) but I'm sure they'd fare less well if I reread them - looking forward to the decap-recap!

Oh god, I was bad laughing at this. That artwork in those early issues does make for prime riffing material. Had I been on this though, I would have gone off on one about Mark Millar's obsessions with violence and death even in a cartoon comic about a hedgehog who runs really fast. XD

Thanks for the kind words as always, guys Right, as promised, more details on Decap: This one's going to be a bit off the normal format. Instead of covering the first six-parter, as was the plan, we're taking things in a different direction. In the interest of full disclosure, I should say we tried doing a run-down of the first story some time ago but realised it really, really does not work at all: we were basically just spoiling the jokes. Obviously it's one thing to say "Haha isn't this bit funny?" when it's comic relief in the Sonic strips, but when we realised we were essentially spelling the humour out to everyone... it all fell apart a bit. So we're going to do this as a "Best of Decap Attack" (because I assume nobody thinks Nigel wrote a single bad one in the strip's entire run) and we're generally just going to have a bit of chatter about our favourite strips. Shay, Stiv and myself are hoping to be available for it and we're going to try to get Stu on as well because he, quite rightly, loves Decap. BUT we also want you guys to come in on things! Since we're only going to be doing a quick best-of, the episode might well fall short... unless you all contribute! If you want to be forever immortalised on a podcast about hedgehog comics, send me an .mp3 of yourself talking about your favourite Decap Attack moment! If you already sent something in for Speed Reading, don't worry about it, I still have those files so I may re-use them for ease. Other than that, feel free to get recording! The email address, as you should well know, is STCPodcast@Live.co.uk

The one about the monster bride was heavily rewritten by the editor to add extra PC. It wasn't good in the first place and after the fixing up it was even worse.

Our next episode is edited and ready to be uploaded within the next couple of weeks!
It's Bonus Episode 3: The Best and Worst of Sonic & Friends Year One.
Stiv, Shay and I put forth nominations for, as you may have imagined, the best and worst Mobius-centric stories from STC's first year. We'll be expecting you guys to help us whittle down those nominations to a final one in each category. We'll be putting up polls on this very forum for you guys to pick the absolute tip-top and bittom-bottom to determine what the fans think of this first year of our favourite comic.
As I said above, it's ready to go now so I'm currently pencilling it in for release next Friday. Look forward to it, Boomers!

On the subject of the most recent episode, it's actually nice to hear Stu talk so enthusiastically about Decap Attack. One gets the feeling that that was the episode he'd wanted to do more than any other.

Faboo - finally caught up, and now off to vote, though as mentioned previously, I have a soft spot for most of the stories in the "worst" catagory which is kind of worrying...

Glad you enjoyed it I think everyone likes at least one "bad" story or at least one divisive story- through talking to Shay I know he and I have a fondness for one or two of the stories everyone else seems to hate (which may or may not have been mentioned in an earlier episode, I can't remember if I edited that out or not). The first six "Year Two" episodes currently look like this: Episode 12: From Sonic The Summer Special, we have Doctor Sun, Attack of the Badniks, Test Drive and Guardian of the Chaos Emeralds (the latter of which, I'm sure I don't need to remind you, is the STC debut of not only Knuckles but also of Nigel Kitching on non-Decap Attack art!) and from Sonic The Poster Mag #5 we have Ocean of Horror, the first Lew Stringer story we'll be covering! Episode 13: An episode lined up to cover the next two Tails adventures, The Morbidden Hunt and Zonerunner & The Flock from issues 28-31 and 35-38, respectively. Episode 14: Lew Stringer's STC debut proper (and Nigel K unintentionally foreshadowing things for about six years down the line) with a look at The Sentinel, Metamorphia, The Pretender and The Unbeatable Foe from issues 29-32. Episode 15-16: The Sonic 3 adaptation, including Enter Knuckles, Power of the Chaos Emeralds from issues 33-36 on episode 15 and then, on episode 16, STPM #6's Marble Garden Menace (which, as it turns out, is practically impossible to place anywhere else in continuity) and Robotnik's Revenge from issues 37-38. Episode 17(-17c?): This is currently set to be a Sega Superstars episode focusing on Shinobi (so we can get it out the way because the regulars don't enjoy it!). Act One will cover The Dark Circle from the Sonic the Hedgehog 1992 Yearbook and The Fear Pavilion from STC 1-6. Act Two will cover The Art of War from issues 19-24 and Way of the Warrior from STPM #4. Act Three will cover Power of the Elements from issues 47-53. We may, if we can get away with the bandwidth space not collapsing, present it as a "Shinobi Week" and get everything up Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Failing that, we'll try to upload two of them close together so as not to imbalance the new episode storage space. Note that this may be shortened to fewer episodes if we can at all skim through them because we don't want this to become a slog- on the other hand, we don't want to overlook them totally because we do still recognise that a lot of people really like these stories even if they're not for us. "And what of special guests?", you may well ask (though probably not phrasing it quite so poncily)! Well, we have a bevy of special guest hosts lined up for the Year Two episodes, with T-Bird apparently chomping at the bit to come back on the show (presumably to give Shay a grilling on the quiz this time!)- I've talked to him about possible episode choices and it seems likely it'll be one of two that I mentioned above. We've also got Pete and Leeann pencilled in to make their return as both have expressed an interest in Shinobi. BDM has also thrown his name into the hat so we'll definitely try to organise something there. We also have one final special guest and it's a new voice to the world of STP! I can't divulge who it is just yet because of the risk of plans falling through, scheduling and equipment being the main issues, but we're looking to kick off Year Two with this guest on Episode 12. All I can say is they were at Summer of Sonic 2013 and it's not one of the regulars or anyone mentioned above and I'll allow you guys to speculate further! It should be an interesting experiment anyway! Unfortunately, we're caught up on our recordings now until we can get this guest on- we'd have probably recorded Episode 12 over the last few days or this week but they've been very poorly so need a bit of time to recover. Of course, the sooner it's recorded, the sooner it's edited and uploaded- and the sooner you'll see who won the polls from our most recent episode! Food for thought there, guys!
