There's already such a rich and interesting wealth of characters in STC just sitting there to be mined, and so little space in the comic to do that in, that I don't see why at the expense of them you'd rather see more characters arbitrarily lifted from the games, such as, say, Rouge.
And anyway some of those characters have already been incorporated in some form - Maria and Gerald were merged into Robotnik, Eggman Nega became Reverse Robotnik, there's already characters called Fockewulf and Johnny, a number of them wouldn't fit into the aesthetic anyway (Chocola? I suppose Cream could use a novelty shaped alarm clock)

I wouldn't mind if Rouge's relationship with the Drakons was more like Samus Aran's with the Chozo.

We also haven't seen most of the badniks that are fought at the end of each of the first acts of Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles.

We here at STCO Towers are always pretty keen to get different Badnik models into the comic, adds a nice variety to Sonic's world. If anyone has any suggestions for specific Badnik designs they'd like to see show up give them a shout out (with a little pic) and if one of the hard working humes on the art team agrees you might see it pop up in a future story!
The same goes for zones, it's far to easy to fall into the trap of having everything occur in either the Green Hill Zone or Metropolis. Let us know what Sonic game locations you'd like to see!
Main characters are a different matter as they need a full story behind them and the potential for more appearances as a unique part of our particular Sonic universe. But background suggestions are welcome.

I would like to see this badnik showing up in the background of a story.

And it should remain as it is. The humans in Sonic games have never sat well with me, having grown up on a diet of genesis only Sonic and STC. I don't mind GUN being htere as long as they remain animals like the rest of the planet (with Robotnik, and that weird spell on Earth strips).
As Tom has said, there is a wealth of characters, and given how long it takes for an issue to come out (not a dig) I wouldn't want to see time wasted on game airlifts and instead live it in the hands of the writers and artists to utilise characters already created and new ones.

Don't you worry Miru, I'm already doing plans for a 6-parter about the hippo from Sonic's Schoolhouse.

I have a good idea that will please both fans of the existing characters and ones who want SEGA characters: Use the older characters as a way to "ease in" SEGA ones. A good example would be revealing Turbo's home planet is Planet Wisp or Lost Hex, thus bringing in the Wisps and Deadly Six as well. Perhaps Grand Chief Whip ends up creating Gamma. Or have Sonic return to Shanazzar and battling Erazor.

Yeah, for stuff like the Wisps, Erazor Djinn, and the Deadly Six, definitely don't rule out us doing something with them. I don't think anyone has a problem with us adapting these new characters.
The problem is that, for the present, we have a very limited schedule. We can only get five issues out a year tops with the current format, and we have tons of plot threads that we're developing at the moment - Silver, Blaze, SPEAR, the Drakon Saga, etc. There'll be no room to start introducing these characters for a good long while, I'm afraid.

There is no good reason other than disorganisation for this, it's been brought to Megadroid's attention. There should be a reply sometime this evening. modochi: I think we've had the Labyrinth Zone back in Issue 5 or so. I seem to recall writing something with... theeeee... *checks* Leaf Forest Zone, yes, I did! Don't think it'll ever get run though. Something for the Archive Zone, perhaps?

The only things that should be used from Sonic 06 is maybe some of the robots and the intro. That bit where Robotnik descends bowing. Yeah.
Sometimes I like Mephiles but his entire character is a bit way too dark for the Sanic.
But I would love something from the Great Battle Kuku Armada. They were awesome.

There has been a lot of interest in the Battle Kuku Armada lately, and, without meaning anything by this accusation, I feel a lot of it comes from Ian Flynn's excellent portrayal of them rather than an interest in them themselves. That makes me wary about adapting them into STC: if we drew too heavily from the material responsible for their surge in popularity we would basically be plagarising, but if we drew too heavily from the source material I don't think folks would find them as interesting. Suffice to say, if we were to adapt them they probably wouldn't be at all similar to Flynn's interpretation.

Which is exactly why the "never read Archie so there's no reason to feel constrained by anything they do or don't do" doctrine, pioneered intentionally or otherwise by Nigel and Lew (and adopted by Ed, myself and probably others), works so well.

Nigel and Lew are great, but I think crediting them with pioneering "not reading comics" is a little too much...

To be honest I havent read Archie's portrayal of them. I think. I sure it was all right because Archie really does seem to be ok now. Not before. Oh no.
I was playing Tails Adventure for a while and got quite far into it, researched into the game on Sonic Retro and really liked the designs of the enemies and the general story.
They would be very "Villain of the Week" but its Sega's own Villain of the week.

Yeah, Archie didn't actually do much with them in the sense of the game, more expanding them from Sonic Riders instead. There's plenty of material from the game itself to use if we wanted to go that path.
That's a big if, btw, since first we've got the 6-part Sonic Eraser adaption.

I like the idea of Requesting Types of Badnik and Suggesting Zones, Locations etc but perhaps a Dedicated Thread for Each might be good?
Would there be objections if I posted a New Thread for Each?
If I do this would it be best here in the Sonic the Comic Section or perhaps the Graphics Zone?
