Nack is a dude. But what confuses me about him is thus: in issue #91 or #92, Sonic shrinks him seemingly into nothing. Then in the Shanazar saga he returns, yet Sonic isn't in the least bit surprised to see him. I stopped buying at #117 and have got the Shanazar stories off the net, so is there a story I don't have where Nack comes back? (ooh, rhyming ;D) Or is it just a plot hole?

In #142 Nack explains he "found a way to come back". You could infer that he discovered another universe smaller than an atom, but even if you didn't, it's not really very important info for the story.
I didn't know Vector was designed that long ago. I think he has the best design and name actually. Makes a change from the usual cute flying fluffy things.

Mighty not only did he have a fun time against sonic but..... he also has the coolest name, apart from espio that is a much cooler name

In Spanish spy is espĂa. Which is where Espio got his name from. That's an interesting fact for you today.

Thanks Ed. And that is pretty interesting, Espio! *ponders* Any other characters with interesting name origins? Maybe Reala means something...or maybe it's just a pun on "reality"...

Common people, Charmy 'aint that bad! I mean, the way he defeated the Crimson Cobra... CLASSIC! "Good job that beam turned me temporaraly insane or I never would have throught of it!" Charmy
and the fundamental four... oh charmy... "You can't deafeat the fundamental four by turning them into a pot, that too stupid" Vector or Mighty...
(shame on you if you dont know these stories, in my opinion, two of the funniest STC strips there are!)

Yeah, sorry, didn't make that clear did I? It's just I did a quick mental scan of Sonic characters and they were all pretty much self-explanatory - Mighty, Amy, Tails etc - so I moved on to Sonic Team characters in general. Oh, well, Pachamachac and Tikal have stories to their names but I knew 'em already. (closest to a geek emoticon lol)

Something I found interesting was that very few of the characters' english names are any different from their original japanese ones.

I think it's "Sonikku", isn't it? Or is that my imagination?

Post by Ellie on Feb 20, 2004 0:40:10 GMT
well, its prnounced Sonikku and if you spell it, the characters used would be the following
So Ni Tsu Ku
but its just because of how they pronounce things, in japanese almost every consinent is followed by a vowel, so I imagine its hard for them to say things without it, thats why is usually sounds like they've added a U onto the end of english words

Okay, I am going to drag this back onto on-topic. It seems that Espio is the most popular (YES!!), but Mighty is in second which means that leaving him out of Sonic Heroes might have been a bit of a mistake of Sonic Team.

too right. I like vector and all, but mighty should have been the strength, hence the name and all

Yeah, then we would've had two hulking great strength guys and two normal-sized strength guys, which would've been nice an' neat. Ah well. Vec's still a dude.

Aiya... someone mentioned the Japanese spellings...
No, Sonic's name can't be so ni tsu ku. We'd hear the tsu - they're spelled phoenetically. And the 'u' is there because the only consonant they end words in is 'n'.
I know Espio is Esupio, Mighty is Maiti, Vector is Bekutoru (yes, a b, I don't know why)... not sure about Charmy, I haven't spotted his... Could be Chaami, Charumi, but I dunno.
Wow, I wanted Espio to be less popular, so I'd be more special for liking him... ah well. Hey, does anyone remember the letter in Speedlines where someone was complaining about "her"?

I'm glad that Vector was in it and not Mighty. The games rely on different sorts of characters to make the character selections interesting. This is why Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are all interesting but once they started adding Cream and whoever else, things started getting repetitive. Vector is different in his looks and style and that can only be a good thing for the games.

I have to say I do agree with that. The most appealing thing about game Chaotix is their character designs, specifically them being non-mammals. While Mighty is a decent character, he's more suited to comics than games.
