Thanks, Devo! That ending had a ton of info I didn't know about. Dirty, dirty, graverobbin' Wesker... So....that wasn't in the original Code Veronica? What exactly was and wasn't there?

Whilst I'm not a big fan of Resi (mainly due to the clunky controls and my phobia of the undead) I was tempted into buying it after reading several extended reviews that praised the pants off the thing.
So, I bought it. The damn thing wouldn't let me go for about two weeks. (Good or bad? I'm still deciding)
I'm currently in the castle area, in the large room after you fight the blind psychopath armed with claws. I really should play it again soon, since I'd certainly like to find out the next bit of plot (aswell as upgrade my shotgun, these monks just don't quit).

You gotta love the Chris VS Wesker fight, it really shows just how much of an evil sonuva[censored] Wesker is (hence why he's the only surviving RE villain). Wesker is so cool.

I concur. Out of curiosity, is he still working for Umbrella? At the beginning of Resi 4, it tells you that Umbrella is finished, and in CV, he is working for an organisation other than Umbrella. I can tell you more about what Resi 4 reveals, but to be safe, I'm gonna spoiler text it:
Wesker is not seen throughout Leon's scenario. In the extra minigame "Assignment Ada", we discover that Wesker is part of another organisation, but, somehow, with the plaga sample, he intends to re-establish Umbrella, with himself in charge. Krauser, who you fight with Leon, mentions this, also. If you have the PS2 version, then you will get "Seperate Ways" when you complete it. That explains the intentions of Wesker, Ada and Krauser in more detail.[/spolier]

At the beginning of Resi 4, it tells you that Umbrella is finished I know, that's why I'm curious. Since Wesker has always been a cunning villain, I found it odd that we would still remain devoted to Umbrella Corp. after it goes under, hence my question. Thanks for setting me straight, though. Does anyone else find the monks' chanting unnerving?

Does anyone else find the monks' chanting unnerving? Yes, extremely. However, what is more unnerving is the gasping of a regenerator, which you'll undertsand later on. The thing that produced most of the pee on my sheets, though, was the sound of the fricking chainsaw. I hate the chainsaw people!

That was a HUGE scene....how could they miss that out? I think it would have been cool if you actually fought Wesker yourself though, rather than watching a huge long ending.

Maybe they ran out of development time and had to cut the ending when they were making the original. Or maybe they never thought of it originally - from what I've heard there's another scene where Wesker confronts Claire outside the Ashford house earlier on in the game, so maybe they shoved those bits in to justify its "X" tag and also placate Wesker-hungry fans.

Yeah, that happens too. But if I remember rightly, without the ending or the bit where he confronts Claire early on, then you only see Wesker thrice throughout the game? That's lame....

I remember the scene where he confronts Claire outside the Ashford estate, that was definitely in the PS2 version.

I remember the scene where he confronts Claire outside the Ashford estate, that was definitely in the PS2 version. That's because everything is in the PS2 version. The PS2 and GC versions were identical, it was the Dreamcast version that missed out on everything.

I wanna know about this Seperate Ways thing, and how it gives away more info about Wesker and Umbrella. I don't have a PS2 and I don't plan on getting one, so could someone kindly enlighten me, pretty please?

I wanna know about this Seperate Ways thing, and how it gives away more info about Wesker and Umbrella. I don't have a PS2 and I don't plan on getting one, so could someone kindly enlighten me, pretty please? Well, you get a lot more Weskerness. Since you are playing as Ada, you have Wesker on a little device with a screen, and he tells you what to do. Its not a little mini-game like Assignment Ada, this is proper stuff, where you do what Ada does whilst Leon's farting about. You go to new areas and fight new bosses at points. There's some things that you don't find out in the other parts of the game. In Seperate Ways, we discover that Krauser was still alive after his fight with Leon, and Ada has to kill him. Basically, you know about why Ada is there. Wesker wants that sample, and she has to get it. Ada has a dilema throughout the game, though, because Wesker wants Ada to assasinate Leon. A lot of things that happen in the game are the works of Ada. When the church bell rings at the beginning of the game, that was Ada, and you must do that in Seperate Ways. When you first enter the village with Leon, and you have to fight the ganados by the burning policeman, Ada was there too, and then she went to the church. You find and kill the ganado that stole Leon's jacket. Best mini-game the entire series has to offer, and it's a shame the GameCube people missed out on it.
EDIT: We also get a bit more on Luis Sera through Seperate Ways. He is still bumming around because he was supposed to give the sample to Ada, because that was his only way of escaping.

No, it's a sample of Las Plagas. Wesker wants it so he can be all "ZOMG BRING BAK UMBRELER!"

Can anyone give me a little strategic advice? I've just passed the Clock Tower area (after Salazar taunted me, the little sh!t) and I'm having great trouble dealing with the two Garradors in the next area, since its hard enough for me to take on one of the psychos, nevermind two of 'em.
I'm aware that you have to shoot them in the back, then hit them again, but I can never seem to cause enough damage whilst their parasite is exposed.
On top of that, the Garrador I'm not aiming at always slashes me and messes up my chance (not to mention makes me prime for a beatdown from the guy I just shot).
So, any tips?

Ooh, that's a tough bit, and it always gets me every time. Some of the time I use the rocket launcher to save the hassle, but that's not for everyone (considered 'cheating').
Do you know that if you shoot the bells, the Garrador's will run towards it and destroy it? That's always a good opportunity to shoot them in the back. Explosives and incendiary 'nades are a good option to finish one off quickly, and then deal with the other more methodically. Don't be afraid to use the magnum if you have it (and you should do, because there's a free Broken Butterfly lying around about 10-20 minutes before this). Remember to walk around, don't run. The Mine thrower is a good weapon for these guys, too - fire a dart or two into their Plagas when the opportunity arises.
Sorry if all that advice seems obvious, but apart from that, there's no definitive strategy. Good luck.

I was afraid my skill was dropping. Are there any bells in the room? I didn't notice any (primarily because I was more than a tad occupied). Unfortunately, I don't own a Rocket Launcher, since there's no room for it in my inventory (I'm considering selling my TMP, which has saved my neck on afew occassions). If it gets me out of this spot, however, I'll snap one up. I've used the grenade tactic on Garradors before, but having two of them on me makes it much harder to get an oppurtunity. I feel kind of stupid for asking this, but where's the free Broken Butterfly located? I'm still using the Red9.

The moment you enter the room, fire a mine at one of them. They will both get excited, but only one will run towards you, because the other one will be like: "OW! MINE!" Dodge when he runs into the wall and gets his claw stuck, then pump some magnum bullets into him. Use as many grenades as possible.
Note: If you are playing on professional mode, then the term we used for getting to this bit is: "[censored]ed". I did it, but it was DAMN hard.

I feel kind of stupid for asking this, but where's the free Broken Butterfly located? I'm still using the Red9. The Red 9 is a pistol. Keep it - it's the best one in the game IMO. Do you remember an outside part of the castle with a door that Leon says "With a little help from another person I might be able to get through"? There's a water fountain nearby with birds perched on it. Go there, and the finest Magnum in the game (again IMO), is in there for free, along with treasure and red herbs. Totally worth it. You NEED ASHLEY WITH YOU, though. There's also a free rocket launcher on a table full of ammo in the room before the room with the long dining table with all the food on. I usually buy the big attache case, and then backtrack for the free launcher and Butterfly, both of which I now have room for. That's just my method, though. You shouldn't sell your TMP, really. Unless you really think you don't need it. I always make good use of it. And don't feel bad about not knowing stuff, this is a game with a LOT of nuances, some of which you won't learn until your fifth or sixth play through.

(She's just been taken off by one of those Novistadors a.k.a: Mutant insect monsters) I don't recall a long table of food, though I DO recall several long tables with no food (right before you fight the Garrador in a cage). How far back is it? I'm willing to backtrack as far as I damn well have to.
