Since it's somewhat Sonic-related, I thought I'd put this up here for a bit of discussion: Nostalgia Critic: AoStH and SatAMAs someone who believes SatAM is grossly overrated, I have to disagree with him about the show (though that in no way diluted how entertaining I thought the video was). Then again I was just hoping he'd rip into it so I could see the reaction of the fanboys (especially since I found out that little tossrag Richard Kuta/Sonmanic is on the site promoting that self-congratulatory damage-control "interview" of his).

I loved the video, the relevance he came up with between Coconuts the Monkey and George W. Bush was the hat, but I knew it was the face really. "YOU ARE NOT A JEDI YET". The whole Darth Vader was good unlike "THAT OTHER [censored]ING SHOW". I-don't-give-a-[censored]-land in the old cartoon was great. Someone as thick would have made the Road Runner and Coyote cartoons better than that, as they missed the speech, which TGITG say was a huge mistake.
New Adventures of Sonic = A+ Eggman sounding orgasmic over everything he says = F.

All the AOSTH hate makes me a sad panda Still a gloriously entertaining vid though.

IMO, cartoons are meant to be funny and push the boundaries of reality. AoStH does exactly that... plus it has Long John Baldry, so it can't be bad.
Eugh, saying that SatAM is dark, gritty and mature is just ignorant. It's a cartoon about animals fighting against a fat guy with robots.

Who dominated the entire story. And that's why its gritty and mature. As for his general annoyance at AoStH being random and [censored]: I bet a cookie that he loves the [censored] out of Ren and Stimpy.

I bet a cookie that he loves the [censored] out of Ren and Stimpy. He does. Purely because it's insane, gross and vulgar.

Well for me, I watched AoStH when I was a little kid. I knew SatAM existed I just never watched it until it came onto pop. So I discovered it at a time when I was older, that way I can appreciate both shows on different levels.
I can watch AoStH because I grew up with it and it entertained me. But I can watch SatAM too because it's more mature and is entertaining in a different manner.
On the whole, loved the review and was laughing all the way through. Thought he made some fair points about AoStH and how screwball it was but I still love the show.

Pretty odd for him to find some of the gags in AOSTH to be confusing when they did odd [censored] like that all the time in Ren & Stimpy and Looney Tunes (particularly Clampett ones), but it was still a bloody good laugh, as he most often is. =)

That was deeply entertaining.
He's wrong about AoSTH, but he's funny.

SatAM and Archie are both an insult to the franchise, even AFTER Sonic 06. AOSTH is way better. First, it doesn't take itself seriously, second it's a cartoon for kids with a bipedal hedgehog and his mutant "brother" fox. Third it doesn't have obnoxious characters who don't hog the spotlight of the hero, like it's supposed to be. Bat [censored] insane is still better than princesses and castles and all that crap.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they're an insult... yeah, they're er... "different" but they have their moments. I preferred AoSTH because its what I saw first and its entertaining. I guess the same with STC. I wouldn't mind betting that if I had access to Archie when I was a kid, I probably would have read it!

As much as I found AoSth entertaining, I've always preferred SatAM to AoSth. Mostly because SatAM HAD A PLOT!
I remember when AoSth switch to SatAM without warning on channel 4 and I thought it was the best thing in the planet but when after the series ended on the infamous cliffhanger, it all switched back to the AoSth cartoons. I was sad :C

Yeah, they did stupid [censored] like that from time to time... like replacing TMNT with the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!

I still think it's insulting, both of them. It has nothing to do with Sonic. SatAM has no ties with the original plot but a character who vaguely looks like Sonic and another one who looks like Tails, along with an immense cast of made up characters. The whole plot has nothing close to the original. No plot or lame plot it's the same failing method.

The whole plot has nothing close to the original. No plot or lame plot it's the same failing method. Back when both AoStH and SatAm were made, the general plot of the games was "Robotnik's trying to take over the world, Sonic's going stop him, and get the Chaos Emeralds on the way." AoStH covered that, including the Chaos Emeralds, and while SatAm never explicitly used the Chaos Emeralds, it did cover all the bases required for it's then plotting. Sure, nowadays both shows are very wide of the mark, especially SatAm, but for what was required in the past, it's all there.

a character who vaguely looks like Sonic and another one who looks like Tails To be serious for a minute, though - "original plot"? There was no "original plot" to work from! Considering both were released prior to S3K, AOSTH and SatAM were about as decent a Sonic cartoon you could realistically expect for the time.

They were both good cartoons. AoStH was clearly miles and miles better, though.

The fact that you believe your own lies, Nights, makes me pity your very being all the more.
On a less insulting note, however, I like both shows (SatAM moreso, of course). As for the Critic, he made me laugh to the point of hyperventilation. I've seen a couple more of his reviews and criticisms and they are equally amusing.

I love them both, I grew up on them. Seeing AOSTH first keeps it special for me, I used to get very excited, tape every episode and watch it over and over. I got up real early on a sunday morning to see it to. But the day SatAM appeared I was blown away, I loved it to bits. I'm not so keen on all of the characters though, and the way Tails acted annoyed me, but he did in AOSTH to, it was the darkness of it I enjoyed the most.

AoStH - Good, but not serious. SatAM - Serious, but poor.
That's how I've always viewed them. Adventures was just far more fun to watch.

Getting the opportunity late last year to finally watch, not only all of SatAM, but all of it together, actually really lifted my opinion of it a lot. It's a fun show, it's got some really good bits, and some really bad bits. The really bad bits are probably the majority of the cast who aren't Sonic and Tails. The really good bits primarily revolve around Robotnik.
It's pretty massively over-rated, and I can't really imagine why outside of furries latching on to it like the [censored]ing Messiah or people just genuinely appreciating any attempt to weave a genuine storyline into Sonic's Universe (which'd be fair enough, but the storyline's pretty piss-weak if you take a step back from it and actually examine it as a whole). However, it is enjoyable.
Adventures, on the other hand, is just pure balls-to-the-walls nuts. And that's good! Sure it was aimed at young kids, but it did it with style and that makes its appeal even more universal than SatAM could manage. The writing wasn't the best, but the action of the show generally made up for it and it was a good cartoon - exactly what it set out to be and succeeded.
Personally, I think Sonic Underground was the best of the lot - ignoring the cheesy song every episode thing. It took SatAM's plot-weaving and character growth and mixed in a bit of AoSTH humour and slapstick too. Not to mention it did away with all the SatAM characters, had Knuckles and an awesome Sean Connery impersonator for a grandfather. Sure the downside was the random siblings - but Manic was actually a pretty good character, and Sonia isn't that far removed from our very own Amy...
