I wouldn't go so far as to say they're an insult... yeah, they're er... "different" but they have their moments. I preferred AoSTH because its what I saw first and its entertaining. I guess the same with STC. I wouldn't mind betting that if I had access to Archie when I was a kid, I probably would have read it! I had to Sonic Underground and Archie first. I still think it's insulting, both of them. It has nothing to do with Sonic. SatAM has no ties with the original plot but a character who vaguely looks like Sonic and another one who looks like Tails, along with an immense cast of made up characters. The whole plot has nothing close to the original. No plot or lame plot it's the same failing method. Why would you want to be tied down by the gaming franchise? Back in the megadrive days the plot was there but it was too limited to be of any use; not without a servre overhall, which would probably upset the fans as much. Today the games have too much plot and cinematics with too much mellodrama and emo black hedgies. I could watch AoSth but it lacked plot so it wasn't of huge interest. SatAm had it's flaws and episodes that were agonising to watch but that is in the minority. Overall SatAm took limited concepts from the game and expanded on it in with some pretty fleshed out characters (Robotnik was awesome). Oh, and I laughed so hard at Nostalgia Critic. All his vids are well made.

Just as a little update, Doug Walker (the man who plays the Nostalgia Critic) and his brother Rob have done a commentary of the review. I have to say I absolutely love how people give your comment a thumbs-down simply because you disagree with the common view. My gods, people on the Internet truly are pathetic (then again that whole idea of rating people's comments is a load of utter twaddle anyway).

I sent him an email a while back saying that I disagreed with the video, but found it hilarious and entertaining all the same.

Yeah, they did stupid [censored] like that from time to time... like replacing TMNT with the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! OMG! Yes they did! At the tender age of 8 I was outraged at this... I loved TMNT! Nearly as much as AoSTH I didn't like SatAM at all, mostly cos I couldn't stand Sally (and I still can't. At least I'm consistant...)

I remember watching the review at the time (because I'm a big NC fan). I disagreed with it, but it was funny nonetheless (PUMPKIN? WHU? BUH? PUMPKIN?!). It also helps to watch the commentary that was done later. Hey, I never knew RedMenace used to frequent here! I know him well on the SEGA forums.
