Colour me intrigued if not particularly excited. But let's have a proper mix of Sega characters rather than "tons of Sonic guys and a few others" like Superstars Tennis, eh?
Also, if there are not Daytona, Sega Rally and Outrun tracks I will not be happy. Virtua Racing and Scud Race couldn't hurt either (despite the fact I've never played either...)

It looked promising until Sonic turned up in a car.
Pass.

Sonic Riders with cars instead of boards.
Also, the logo looks like it got lost on the way to 1997.
ADDITIONAL: If it's going going to be a Sega All-Stars racer, I'd like to see G. Ceara from Super Monaco GP as a boss opponent.

Could not agree more with that, though judging from the information available I wouldn't hold your breath. There are so many awesome sega characters, why not use them instead of the same few favourites they have picked out? Being the crazed sonic fan I am, I'll no doubt get this regardless, but I probably won't get it on launch like I did with segasuperstars tennis...It went down after about two weeks, I felt silly

This, but you know that it's going to end up like this in the end. It does look very pretty, but, y'know, I love Blur Studios, and they do a great job at making things look more awesome than the actual gameplay. I wait in hope.

I fricken called Sega Superstars Outrun. Not on my review of SST but somewhere, I'm sure I did. Also, I came. I wanna see Honey from Fighting Vipers and Hornet plz Mr Sega. I guessing seeing as its Sonic and Sega All Stars: for every Sega character there are 2 Sonic ones. But on the plus side that's still about 20 Sega characters! Also: Why cant Sonic games look as nice as that rejigged Seaside Hill Zone?

This was pretty much inevitable. It just took its sweet time getting here.
Sonic, buddy, old pal..... You don't NEED to be in a car.
I'll still be keeping an eye on this one though.

I'm completely on board for this one, but I hope there's some different and unique Sega characters in there (esp. retro), and not just the same old chestnuts from Riders, ZG and Superstars Tennis. Samba De Amigo may have been great, but I couldn't really give a [censored] about the stupid monkey thing main-character. Nix him and gimmee Ristar, Headdy, Vectorman, and Toejam with Earl in tandem.
(JJ is the one sad consumer who bought Pac-man World Rally b/c it had the Katamari Prince and pooka from Dig-Dug in it).

Let's hope they're still sticking to that propsed plan of 'making money from spin-offs to spend loads on developing the main games'.

Why don't they pull in some less likely character, like from rpg's. There are plenty in the shining games, my personal favourite rpg series even if the ps2 ones never made it here *mutters*. Or the panzer dragoon games, any of the old arcade, there are absolutly loads of characters that they could pick. They may not all need to be in a vehicle, but then neither does Sonic.

I could totally see Sonic driving a Ferrari. Only to impress the women. The God-damned reverse furry.
The thing is if Sonic isn't in the car you would all complain that either Sonic isn't so fast he hasn't automatically won before the race started or that he is too fast that you can't win.

The cheesey explanation for Sonic being in a car, in my mind, is to give other people a chance at winning. Or something. Also, like Eggman's monster truck. So...does this mean the next one is going to be a fighting game? I hope there's some different and unique Sega characters in there (esp. retro), and not just the same old chestnuts from Riders, ZG and Superstars Tennis. Samba De Amigo may have been great, but I couldn't really give a [censored] about the stupid monkey thing main-character. Nix him and gimmee Ristar, Headdy, Vectorman, and Toejam with Earl in tandem. This. They could even dig a bit deeper and have a Panzer Dragoon, or a Burning Ranger. That'd really get people's nostalgia goggles steamed up. Though I'll probably end up giving this a miss, I'll keep an eye on it incase it actually turns out to be good (hey, you never know).

Nix him and gimmee Ristar, Headdy, Vectorman, and Toejam with Earl in tandem. Headdy was Treasure, although I think he was only released on Sega consoles so hey. Hell yeah for the other ones though. Also: Azel on a shrunken Atolm NiGHTS just flying Flagman from Outrun in an Outrun car One of the Crazy Taxi guys in their taxi (preferably B.D. Joe but I'm not that bothered) One of the Burning Rangers in a shrunken Burneer Ship (was that its name?) A whole bunch of ChuChu Rocket mice in a rocket Gilius on one of those weird chicken monster things Alex Kidd on the motorbike he gets in Miracle World (or the helicopter, but I always preferred the bike) A Virtuaroid from Virtual On, I guess it could fly or just run Rage and Smarty from Virtua Cop in their squad car (with Janet in the back seat shooting at opponents) Agent G in some old school cadillac for whatever reason The Hornet from Daytona driving itself (hey, it fought for itself in Fighters Megamix...) The guy from Fighting Vipers 2 on his BMX (Charlie?) Ulala in some spacey thing A Jet Set Radio guy/girl just skating (it'd be funny...) Jeffry from Virtua Fighter in some kind of car (it'd have to be Jeffry in reference to his statue on the Seaside Street Galaxy course in Daytona) The After Burner plane A Sega Rally car (I guess Jeffry could have that) One of the trucks from 18 Wheeler, for giggles Someone from Shining Force in a steampunk car Streets of Rage guys in the Battle Wagon they drove around in STC (come on, that would be awesome) Ah, who am I kidding. NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN

The bloke from Altered Beast on a flying tombstone. Introduced with the "Wise fwom your gwave!" as he bursts through the ground. Probably wouldn't work with a metal floor, though, so maybe not. Also, the Sega Racing Prototype from Sega Touring Car Championship. Driven by Takuma Sato or something. Oh, and the bike from Super Hang-On, driven by the player rider who turns out to be a woman at the end. (I only recently found that out!)

Ugh... Sega really aren't trying anymore, are they? Actually, they really, really are. What they're trying is to make Sonic as close to Mario as possible - only without the quality. It's an admirable mindset - afterall, all the Mario spin-offs sell massively whether they're pants or not - and since the Sonic ones will do the same, it's not exactly going to discourage them from emulating it.
