Mario Kart isn't that slow. Usually, at least; Double Dash was almost painfully slow.

Good: It looks nice. Big. Tails continues to fly in games where the rules should see him disqualified. Bad: All of Sonic's dancing about is really distracting. messing with the camera for the super transformation is stupid. It goes really slow. Getting the chaos emeralds provokes some random [censored] to declare "kayos emrlds!" (1:37).

I think I saw a cat from Chu Chu Rocket! for a moment, and there were certainly some Billy Hatcher eggs in there. Cool!
I absolutely love Big on his tiny motorbike.

OLD SCHOOL BADNIKS! Could do without the bland announcer, though. I'm sure it can be turned off in the options.

It is a wonder that it's always Green Hill that gets shown. We get it, it's famous. But nothing else is available?

Mario Kart isn't that slow. Usually, at least; Double Dash was almost painfully slow. Every Mario Kart I've played has been awfully slow - to the point where you really wonder where the hell the 'racing' part comes in. It feels more like a cruise through the park. Anyone that doesn't consider MK to be slow should really try picking up a half decent racing game to see the comparison. But after the thrilling speeds of Unleashed provided by the Hedgehog engine, it's really quite disgraceful to see Sega flopping down to Mario Kart standards for this. It just doesn't make any sense! If they'd actually bothered to take into account the fact they've got an IP about the fastest thing alive in making a racing game, this could have actually been quite good - even WITH Sonic in a stupid car. Hell, Sega made the last 2 F-Zero games, so why the hell can't they do this with their own damn IP?

That's Seaside Hill Music. The level is a lovely fusion of Green and Seaside Hills though.
Why can't we have Eggman do commentary for the race? Failing that Murray Walker.

I want Chemical Plant Zone. This. [censored]ing this. I loved that level (I know others disagree). My most replayed level ever. It has serious potential as a racing level.

if anything bothers me about all this, it's just how bland the weapons look. I know we've not seen them all, but a lot of them seem to just be a Sonic spin (pun unintentional) on the standard Mario Kart weapons. shields, speed ups, mine type weapons, doesn't seem like there's owt original

I want Chemical Plant. Just to watch Pom on it.
Also, I still continually urge anyone who considers Mario Kart "fast" to play Burnout Paradise in the Jansen 88 Special. Agreeing with Oak here, completely.
Hell, that car makes F-Zero look slow.

I want Chemical Plant Zone. YES!They could have weird little craft speeding over lakes of Mega Mack, similar to Sonic running over water in Sonic 3! And 'Mack based attacks, it would be awesome!

Hahaha! Flipping off an explosion is badass. ;D I can see what its supposed to be (the usual finger point) but its like that scene in the OVA; it just looks funny!

Anyone that doesn't consider MK to be slow should really try picking up a half decent racing game to see the comparison. I'm a fan of F-Zero and Wipeout. Mario Kart isn't insanely fast, but it's not too slow', either. But I agree; this game should be faster (maybe they'll include an option to increase the overall speed?). Though it certainly looks very pretty and I don't mind the look of the Super Sonic special move, either. But the power-ups being above racers' heads...that's gonna get annoying. On the whole looking good so far. Also jumping on the Chemical Plant Zone bandwagon.

To be honest, I'm hoping more for S&K style Death Egg, with outside bits and moments when you are racing on the ceiling, more than Chemical Plant.

This is looking really nice, but good God they need to put in an option to turn the commentator off. Otherwise I will cry.
Although having said that, in the video JBA posted he says something about a "risky ride", which I'm going to stubbornly decide is a reference to the Outrun music track. Which makes it more bearable.

MAGICAL SOUND SHOWER. You know, they could have thrown a Manx TT rider on this. Hell, the sheep cheat! It would have been perfect. Also, anyone know if you can do the drifting like in Mario Kart 64 where you jump and toggle left/right? (Note, NOT Double Dash, you cant jump on that)
