...because "needlemouse" is an awful game name Mr Needlemouse was the codename for development of Sonic 1 way back in 1989/1990, while they were still developing the character. It's a piece of retro nostalgia for the really nerdy Sonic fans, the ones who were actually alive before the Playstation was released.

At first, I was excited, but then I remembered the Sonic cycle never fails. Just wait for another of Sonic's new friends to be revealed. I'm [censored]ing tired of this thing. No better way to say "I'M A TROLL AND WHATEVER THEY DO I'LL HATE IT" than posting that piece of garbage. It's even considered breaking the rules in some forums, and they have a point.

In fairness, I've been posting on these forums for a while (far, far too long), and it's true. People go through the same thing, the development goes the same way and the result is, by and large, the same.
I mean, I've liked a couple of Sonic games (Unleashed <3) of the past few years, but in general that cycle is entirely accurate.

I'm only stating that in my experience, it is true for the last few games, although Unleashed is decent, just disappointing compared to the early impressions from footage and screenshots. I only hope Sonic Team have finally learned their lesson this time and try making a game without some gimmick to "enhance it".

It's just that you may be one case, but generally the Cycle is used like this: *sensible talk about Sonic's new game, how it's not so bad, and what needs to be improved* DURR CYCLE *rage*

I dunno why the supporting cast existing is included in the Cycle. Or why "gameplay looks to be the same old" in this version, since I keep hearing complaints the gameplay keeps using gimmicks and isn't being like the original games.

If this is just the Sonic Unleashed 2D sections then its just going to be Sonic Rush prettified. And I will cry.
But if this is a genuine update on the Sonic 3&K style gameplay, then all should be well. I could even tolerate 15 playable characters if the game is actually good.

Haha, on some forums there's a temp-ban for Sonic cycle posting Not that I'm suggesting we do that here, but it's a rather hilarious concept.

Why has no one edited Adamis' post to link to the sweary image? Can we finally drop the whole censorship bull[censored]? Can we post images in the butchery thread now I have nothing to say on the game at this point. What am I to say about a nondescript trailer?

*sigh* You know the drill on sweary words! Anyways when I heard about this via Baxter's Facebook status XD I assumed it would be a hoax. I would be pleased to see a nice new shiny (none of these Gameboy sprites!) but 2D version of Sonic. I reckon all the gimmicks such as grinding and the homing attack kinda take a lot away from the newer games. :S They've advertised it as something really epic though. I mean, cmon its a Sonic game, not Lord of the Rings!

2nd time today I snap at someone because of this game. Pursue stress relieving activities if you are so tense you will become worked up over something so inconsequential as a videogame. Get angry at all the injustice in the world and the cruelly complicated and unfairly short experience that is life, not the bloody tales of a talking blue hedgehog.

I for one am trying to break the cycle these days as I theorise on how Sonic Team are going to screw it up this time, as I sure as hell don't expect it to be any good.

I enjoyed the Sonic levels of Unleashed, found Shadow to be ok, and like the Sonic Rush games. I'm not expecting this game to kick the world in its ass, but I'm at least hoping it will be competent enough for me to want to play it without wanting to kick my own head off.

I for one am trying to break the cycle these days as I theorise on how Sonic Team are going to screw it up this time, as I sure as hell don't expect it to be any good. At a guess I'm going to say that the most likely ways Sonic team will [censored] up are either A) Sonic Team never really understood why the old games are good and make a terribly bland and boring game with nothing to excite, B) it's full of glaring errors, tonnes of gameplay issues, and handles like a brick through custard, C) The game puts way too much emphasise on speed, making the entire thing a clone of Sonic Rivals, D) They feel it essential to shoehorn everyone in, and in doing so they make the game very bland to make it so that everyone's different abilities can be used, or E) They use that good old fashioned Sonic Team ability to ruin even the best ideas. My money's on a combination mainly of B and C with a hint of A.

All Mark really needs to do is NOT USE the boost button Mark- GAME OVER PLAYER ONE. BE VIGILANT. says: Has not using the boost button been a consideration at any point? Mark- NOT DIFFERENT AT ALL, IS IT STEVE? says: Hmmmm Mark- GAME OVER PLAYER ONE. BE VIGILANT. says: Mark- NOT DIFFERENT AT ALL, IS IT STEVE? says: Of course, I just wanted to sound smart

It's the lack of it that would make it worth my time too. I may have phrased my tongue-in-cheek comment poorly.
Proper momentum like in the old games is what I'm after. Using the slopes to your advantage and building up speed naturally, that's the Sonic stuff I like.

I'm hoping that the only feature is that he can jump and spin. That homing jump thing that was introduced takes any sort of effort out of defeating enemies. Just make it as basic as is humanly possible.
Also, lol if this is Sonic 1 HD, it's sort of pissing on Sonic Retros efforts. I know theyre doing 2, but still.
