Vote the Shaker for mod. I will unban Megajerk, lock registration and then ban everyone else including myself. The forum will just be for Megajerk. We can change the name from "Sonic the Comic - Online!" to "I'm going to kick your dad's teeth out as soon as I find out where he lives you lopsided slag"

Since when did it become the case that someone who starts a thread gets the ability to lock threads because they're not happy with the direction it took? Okay fair enough if a thread devolves into attacks against the individual who started it, or is to show off an individual's work (such as the threads in the graphics zone), but why can a thread that stays on topic and doesn't turn into a [censored]storm get locked just because the original poster no longer wants the thread?

I locked it because I was asked and I partially agreed, some of the comments were unsavoury - but yes, as I'm sure you know it wasn't with the agreement of the other mods. Discussions are underway.

Because it's me, and this is my house. You should know that by now.

The general rule has always been that you get your own thread locked if you request it. No questions asked. Who cares why he wanted it locked; it was his thread.

If he doesn't like what his thread has become, he doesn't have to look at it.

As far as Im concerned, if you want a thread locked, you can have it locked. If its something continuous, or non personal like the thread in question, just make your own or something, as nam has. Normally this is reserved for stuff like art threads, but obviously its not limited to it, so you cant really apply one rule to one, and one to another.

But there was nothing wrong with the thread. All it needed was for a mod to say "Stop talking about Maddie McCann", problem solved.
Threads should only be locked when there's a reason for it.

If we did, we probably would have gotten a load of backlash about controlling threads, and stepping in when its unecessary, as we have before. Hence no-one was probably willing to touch it, I know I wasn't.
In this case, the reason was that Stu, the creator of the thread wanted it to be. Like I said, we cant apply one rule to one thread and one to another. Theres a new, identical thread, so I dont see any problem. If he feels by creating a thread that people make posts in that he doesnt like gives him some sort of responsibility for them, and wants to rid himself of it, then so be it.

If he feels by creating a thread that people make posts in that he doesnt like gives him some sort of responsibility for them, and wants to rid himself of it, then so be it. That wasn't the reason at all. There's a new "complain-about-other-people-when-I-was-the-one-in-the-wrong" thread anyway. So it's all good in the hood.

What was wrong with it? I mean, I know there are a lot of things wrong with it, but I imagine it was a series of few events that coloured your opinion. Rather than it being for the reasons many people here don't like it. Luckily, I only have to suffer the town centre in the day, as I live a good, healthy 30 minutes away.

I liked Nottingham but I didn't like the Uni. They were a bunch of snobs who sneered at me for being a Birmingham graduate. Heeelllo? Red brick Uni established in 1900? Member of the Russell Group? RAE ratings of 4-5*? ¬_¬
Also Nottingham has Rock City. *does the devil horns gesture*

Luckily not everyone from the University of Nottingham is snobby, but there are a good few. Trent is better for it's easier going students - it used to be a polytechnic so I imagine that has something to do with it.
I am not a UoN or NTU student, before anyone thinks I'm playing favourites.

Oh no, I agree with that... I can imagine it depends on the department, the person etc... this guy so happened to be a medic and Nottingham Uni's med school is apparently the best in England, so he was a bit stuck up his own arse because I came from Brum Uni's med school. I'm sure there must be departments in the Uni which aren't best in the country. Oxford, on the other hand were kinda nice. I expected them to be a bunch of snobs. Still didn't get the place, though. Anyways... off topic!
