And the inconsistencies will continue - perhaps clearer protocols should be in place?

Yeah, it will, but for all the upset and drama there's been with all the criticism and that recently, moderation has been very steadily improving.
Naturally, I take full credit for this.
Damn, I'm [censored]ing awesome.
Now make me mod there's a space open.

I've just been informed I will never be mod because I apparently break more rules than anyone else on the forum, I am genuinely upset D:
To be fair, I think my attitude comes from modding a forum with several thousand members (mods are divided to each area, admins have power in all areas) where the only major rules are A) Nothing illegal B) Anything NSFW has to have a NSFW in the thread title, or use the NSFW filter C) Not genuinely being a prick

And the inconsistencies will continue - perhaps clearer protocols should be in place? I've had a look through the rules post, it's clear and concise. It's essentially down to the members themselves whether they want to read it or not, although most of it really is common sense.

I've had a look through the rules post, it's clear and concise. It's essentially down to the members themselves whether they want to read it or not, although most of it really is common sense. I meant moderating protocols. On the forum I moderate I created a get-out clause: The way I see it, banning should only occur in extreme cases (which is how it is handled here). Topic locking should only happen when the content is not salvageable. Everything else should be up to a moderator's discretion, and if one disagrees with it, then another moderator should be informed - it should not descend into a public berating session like it so often does here. That's just my take on things; it might not work here because we are a different set of people and have a different set of rules.

XD Another quality a moderator should have is tact - we don't need to know that the moderators are obviously split on such a matter. You need to show a united front at all times.

I'd unite the [censored] out of that front if I was a mod. Which I totally should be.
Come on, it's been five years, damn it!
Stop double posting Bryce, you rule breaking [censored]!
See, I'm good at itttttt.

NOOOOOO YOU DOUBLE POSTED NOW YOU SHALL BURN FOR ALL ETERNITY!! AAAAAAARGHGHHHGHHH*cough* Ahem... I mean. Well, no I wouldn't say we're "split" on the matter - there are rules that we all agreed to. I was after a rigid set of "if this happens - we do this" thing but after discussing it with the mods its obvious its not as simple as that, also its a bit... weird. Like, Asda weird. But we're working on it.

Make me a mod, I'm good at it, and it'd be nice to see how many people left or threw all their toys out of their pram in protest.
And of course, Megajerk Unban.

Well the difficulty with protocol is that it has to be absolute - it can't ever be that way because no two situations are the same.

ITT Bryce and Claire attempt sensible discussion while the rest of us punch eachother in the dick and say lol in means to distract them and Mitch talks about how his being denied modship is directly responsible for his wee willy

I will, but I won't get angry and start posting weird porn until that moment.
Disclaimer: I will not do that.

So it boils down to common sense and not everyone has that. ITT Bryce and Claire attempt sensible discussion while the rest of us punch eachother in the dick and say lol in means to distract them and Mitch talks about how his being denied modship is directly responsible for his wee willy I've seen your dick. You were asleep.

I'VE SEEN YOURS, I WAS NOT IMPRESSED. THE GROWTH ON IT LOOKED LIKE THE OLD POPE. Divine intervention if there ever was one. I hope Moo isn't too pee'd off at all this mod discussion that came about by her stepping down - maybe this is why she stepped down in the first place? She couldn't handle the controversy. XD I joke. Just so you know, Moo, I think this discussion would have happened at some point anyway, so don't feel that this is any kind of rebuttal towards your decision.

What's the problem, then? If someone wants to stand down as mod, that's their decision. I think Moo would've given further explanation if there was any major problem regarding it. But there wasn't, so why has this storm even surfaced? Oh there was, I just didnt want to go into it here. I told the mods though. I'd be lying if I said I wasnt a little confused as to why me demodding myself led to a dick discussion. o__O Well, with regards to the reason, it was more reasons. But I dont particularly wanna go into those, as some are sort of mod-discussion things and some would probably set off a few people. Maybe. I dunno. But yeah, I just dont really want the hassle anymore. :/ Also, one of the last things Mambo wrote in the hume zone was about trying to get some clear guidlines for mods (as far as I remember), so shes one step ahead there.

I just talked to Moo. Here is what I have discovered from conversations with five seperate mods
Apparently almost all the mods are pussies, Retro despite being nice and reasonable for the most part off-forum, is capable of totalitarian douchebaggery despite him having a bleak view of what is best for the forum in mind, Mambo is completely awesome, and some of the mods themselves think there are too many rules, too many stupid rules, and the sort of rules you'd expect in the digital equivalent of nursery school.
Double standards are the law.
Here's a suggestion for the mods. STOP BEING SO BLOODY BORING.
