Well, Chris Evans has officially been cast to play Steve Rogers/Captain America, despite already playing Johnny Storm in the Marvel Universe. There are, however, rumours that the Fantastic Four franchise is to be rebooted, not that the two teams will be crossing over any time soon.
Hugo Weaving is set to play the Red Skull, the villain of the Cap movie, which should be good.
Main worries seem to be Evans' ability to play a confident character without his trademark cockiness.
Discuss?

I like Chris Evans, I do, but I can't picture him throwing his mighty shield, and those who oppose his shield deciding to yield.
Also, concerned with the non-American appeal/marketing of Captain AMERICA [censored] YEAH. Its gonna be very hard to market that, even though the character is the exact opposite.
Finally, you just know that whole "YA THINK THIS A ON MY HEAD STANDS FOR FRANCE?!" will be trotted out to show the rampant pro-American/anti-European slant of the character, ignoring that that is an alternate universe and has little to no bearing on the 616 Cap.
Weaving and the fact its WW2 set are going to be the two major draws.

I dunno, I really enjoy Ultimate Cap despite the fact that I technically really shouldn't. The fact that the Cap film's being mostly shot in the UK may help in giving it a more worldwide appeal though - it'll be easier for them to tell when they're going too far, I'd imagine.
Still, Chris Evans is pretty much the only person in the whole casting rumour process that actually struck me as half-ways suitable, so I think this is a pretty good choice. Quite looking forward to seeing where they go with it.

I haven't seen enough of Evan's films to comment on his role of Cap, but Hugo Weaving as Red Skull? I eagerly await to see his performance. ;D

OBEY.... *shrug* Um... this might be a dumb question but I'm pretty sure there was a Captain America movie back in the '80s. I don't remember much about it, except Red Skull looking like he had stuck his head in a pan of boiling water.

Well, Chris Evans has officially been cast to play Steve Rogers/Captain America, despite already playing Johnny Storm in the Marvel Universe. Fantastic Four was a Sony production, so it doesn't count towards this "crossover" effort Marvel are trying with the remaining properties they could scrounge up. Main worries seem to be Evans' ability to play a confident character without his trademark cockiness. Sure, he was underwhelming in the F4 films - much like nearly everything else - but his performance in Sunshine convinces me he can pull off a decent effort. Not that I actually like Captain America, but you get the sentiment.

And Fox are looking to press the reset button on them anyway (primarily just to keep a hold of the license in the wake of the Disney/Marvel deal), so his dual-casting matters less and less, really. At this stage, it's pretty much the same as Ryan Reynolds playing both Deadpool and the Green Lantern. (And a character from Blade Trinity) Those characters are never going to co-exist, so the fact they're played by the same person just doesn't really matter that much. One thing I do have trouble with from Chris Evans playing Cap is that his voice just doesn't sound that authoritative to me - but maybe he'll pull it off.

I want a fourth Blade movie, done by Guillermo Del Toro again. The first two were [censored]ing fun.

Chris Evans was poor in F4, but his performance in the Scott Pilgrim trailer was so many worlds apart from that that I'd be willing to give him a chance in this.

He's been rumoured to be doing so for ages now, though. Like, even before they could've possibly decided who would direct it. So while it's entirely possible, I'm going to remain unconvinced 'till it's officially announced, or convincingly leaked.

I dunno, it's been rather strongly picking up pace the last two weeks - seems pretty possible to be bang on.
Whedon sitting in the Director's chair alone is kinda meh, though. He's a great Director when he goes for it - but we all know his real strength lies in the combination of writing/directing. Given that the Zack Penn, guy behind the Fantastic Four and the worst X-Men movie, is the guy in the writing seat, I'd say it's definitely a wasted opportunity.

*sigh*
It's grand that we're finally getting an Avengers movie, after all these years, and a proper crossover movie (I mean, Hulk's confirmed, right ? ... Right ?)
But it'll still be a long while more before we'll have a truly epic Marvel cross-over. And when I say epic, I mean X-men/Spiderman/Avengers/FF4 epic.
All that being said..... the Ultimates was pretty epic. If this movie can reach that level, complete with massive battle scene at the end of the movie, I'll be happy.

Thor ending of Iron Man 2 has leaked. So has a picture of the Destroyer armour. Its exactly as it was in the comics, which is both good and bad.

Maybe, or it could be epicly awesome.I mean, think about it: pretty much a lot of our current blockbusters wouldn't have fared well had they been made yesteryear.

The problem with a crossover movie is that it would depend too much on the viewer having watched, let's say for this case, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and Iron Man 2, Cap'n America, Avengers, Thor, and if we go on the path you want, Spiderman, Fantastic Four... too much for a large blockbuster.
