A "Sonic the Comic" is a computer engine used in the construction of plot devices. Having already received a successful Robotnik from the Kintobor reversal, the Sonic the Comic engine's job is to then ensure that progress keeps going, via confirming to the Echidna Paradox, keeping the blue functions from becoming too chaotically yellow. Originally this was conceived as a Japanese experiment, with some British university professors taking up the work of support the expansion of it's use. However budget cuts means that the British efforts involved with Sonic the Comic engine were shut down. A few devout tech heads however kept the task alive, and are now devoted to the cause of ironing out all the flaws and attempting to achieve the perfection that the English professors had nearly achieved. Here on this forum, we work towards a successful continuation of there research and work. Since it's inception, this site has destroyed the alternate reality idea, shut down many an idea of egg based transportation, and is currently in the middle of working on a couple of theories that may or may not lead to time travel. Progress is slow, but once in a while we make a breakthrough and release a slew of new information. Far too much to sig. But this is legend, I'll have you know sir.

so what exactly is Sonic the Comic? It's a comic about Sonic. Serious answer time: it was the UK's Sonic (and Sega!) comic, that was cancelled back in 2001 because of editorial bull[censored]. The fans continued it, because they're super-rad.

A student who's not studying? Why that just makes you like roughly a third of all the other students in the country.
Anyway welcome to the forum. I'd give you a guided tour but your laptop wouldn't keep up.

It would probably be polite to post here. Hello!
I'm Dave, 25, freelance writer, hates how much his life revolves around Wi-Fi, wandering aimlessly around the world since 2010 because one day this freedom might disappear and I'm easily bored.
STC was probably the most important thing in my life from 1994 to 1996, taking over from Count Duckula and being usurped by Red Dwarf. It's fun to read it again, though I haven't ventured into STC-O yet - even STCs issues numbering over 100 still feel strangely 'modern' to me...
Favourite STC story: The Sonic 3/Sonic and Knuckles adaptations probably weren't the best overall, but I was always impressed with how closely they followed the games I loved. They thus had the best ju-ju.
Edit: I just remembered I'm actually 26. So I can recount needlessly specific details about comics from 16 years ago, but don't know my own age.

Hello! I'm Nick, collector of STC from the '94 summer special till #184, and back in ancient days of yore (i.e. 2000) I was a member of the STC eGroups/Onelist/Yahoo!Groups mailing list - the first online community I ever joined. Lots of memories of that group: - The Ed Reynolds/Nigel Kitching "tripe" discussion - The "Yeeeiiiikes" 9/11 thread (IIRC Selina from the group was in the States at the time, attending a TMBG concert...) - A lengthy discussion of Studio Ghibli movies (which was the first time I'd heard of them) - Alessandro Sanasi of The Sonic Info Page turning up every so often just to complain about people quoting emails using the wrong formatting, and then lurking away again for another year - Mister Ron Echidna of Sonic: Project Mettrix turning up to offer an explanation for Sonic 2's Genocide City Zone that I'd never heard before or since... and fond memories of many other threads as well. Based on the proposals for STC-O discussed on the mailing list, I eagerly awaited its launch - in fact I even wrote out a script for a two-part Burning Rangers comic, my first and only ever piece of comic scriptwriting (which was no doubt utterly awful)! But once the webcomic was finally launched I loved the first couple of issues (though Abigail Ryder's art didn't seem as impressive as it had done back when she was drawing The Sonic Ideal's eternally-unfinished S3&K adaptation), but I kinda stopped keeping up with the comic after a couple of years. I never got round to joining this forum. I'm not exactly much of a Sonic fan these days. I still love revisiting the Mega Drive games for a half-hearted time attack, but I haven't bought a new Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2 - Generations is the first one I've had any interest in since then. I'd still occasionally pipe up to defend STC whenever I saw it mentioned online, though! So why have I joined this site now? A recent house move let to me browsing through my old STCs, and I was reminded of just how good it could be at its best. So I thought I'd register here to find out what everyone from the list has been up to. It's nice to learn that Tom (aka "Dr Zachary" aka "that list member who really really liked Joss Whedon programmes") is still around, that Ed Reynolds was too until fairly recently, and that Nigel Kitching is still taking the time to answer people's STC questions.

Hello everyone. It's a pleasure to meet you.
My name is Steffie and I am a Sonic fan, especially of Sonic the Comic. I also enjoy the other Sonic universes too.
I'm not a big fan of the Sonic series as I used to, but I still have a soft spot for it.

South Africa huh? Well, certainly a unique location! The very fact that no two locations could possibly be identical to begin with makes this comment pretty dumb.

The very fact that no two locations could possibly be identical to begin with makes this comment pretty dumb. How do you explain Super and Sonic then? HUH HUH HUH?! ...ahem. Umm. I meant I don't see people from South Africa that often; usually it's the UK or USA, with trimmings of Canada and Australia. Anyway, let's not derail the thread.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome, everyone . Yep, I was born and still living in South Africa. Back when Sonic the Comic was still being published I would always try my best to buy the latest issue as soon as it arrives.
