As the title claims, it's for talking about songs that come up in Sonic. Originally started because the SEGA Racing thread's being derailed with it. So if it's that big, we need a general discussion thread for it. Of course you can talk about whatever music you want to in Sonic, classic or modern. (I didn't find any related threads existing for this in the search, but if there's one, sorry. ^.^

I like the last level music of Sonic CD, but I haven't played it in so long I barely remember the tune, just that it was rockin' when I did play. Sonic 2 and 3 have awesome music, so does Sonic Adventure when people aren't attempting singing and failing.

To expand more, I really love (Eur/Jap, to be clear here) the Sonic CD tracks. Theyre very ambient, and well placed and composed to suit the tracks. I can easily listen to them in their own right (Bar Palmtree Panic >___>).
Sonic 3D, despite being a fairly dire game, also has a killer soundtrack.

Which version? MD or Saturn?
Personally, I've always felt Sonic and Knuckles has maintained the best soundtrack of the four classics. Almost every game has a stand out one, but very few have completely awesome OST's in every respect.

Sonic 3D, despite being a fairly dire game, also has a killer soundtrack. This to a degree. Some are fantastic, (Boss 2, Diamond Dust, Panic Puppet, invincibility), others are good, but don't suit the theme (Final Fight, Volcanic Valley), and some are grating (Spring Stadium). Generally it's more hits than misses, but it doesn't really suit the game itself. Sonic & Knuckles has a lot going for it musically, Death Egg, Flying Battery, Doomsday Zone, Lava Reef act 1, and suits better, even if some songs aren't that great to listen to just on there own. Sonic 2's arguably got more good music on it, but it has a fair few duff ones too. Chemical Plant is fantastic, Oil Ocean has grown on me, Mystic Cave is just right, and the Final Boss is perfect. Yet, I prefer the Beta versions of some Music, the Death Egg for instance is better on the Beta. Original: Beta: Of course, considering you'd hear that song for all of three seconds unless you hung around at the end, it's kind of a moot point. As for proper songs, the only one I'd say is actually great is E.G.G.M.A.N. from Sonic Adventure 2. Yes it's as cheesy as hell, but I love it, and happily listen to it.

Long post. Favourite Mega Drive Sonic soundtrack is Sonic 3. can't understand why they changed the mid boss music. The other one is ok but its not. DO DOO DO DOO DOO DO DOO DOO COME ON! OOOOOO! Yes. Also Sonic 3D MD soundtrack > Saturn one. Guess the song from the misheard lyric 1: WHOOP THAT ASS AGAIN C'MON NOW WHOOP THAT ASS AGAIN! Post Mega Drive era, (ignoring theme songs) my favourite soundtracks were probably either Sonic Adventure or Sonic Unleashed. For probably being the soundtracks that seemed to have the most of that special thing that probably only exists in my Relentless fuelled mind called Sonicyness. Misheard Lyric # 2: Leather and lace, gets me horny! Oh yeah that unused version of His World. As for the whole Crush 40 thing, that seems to dominate when ever music mentioned. I consider Jun Senoue a great musician. I mean Christ, he was involved in Sonic 3 and K and 3D. But he over uses the guitar, and then Heroes and Shadow came out where he was pretty much the only guy writing tracks for the games. And pretty much every song in those games was guitar based. Which is probably why I enjoyed the whole soundtracks of Sonic Adventure, Sonic 2K6 and Sonic Unleashed a lot more. He was a bit burnt out I think. As for the whole of Crush 40, I actually like them but lately the lyrics have been completely random. Knight of the Wind is a perfect example. E.G.G.M.A.N. and Lazy Days are awesome. So yeah.

This is probably my favourite Sonic track. Thanks to Insector's contribution to the Sonic Shorts series, whenever I think of Robotnik I can't help but imagine him sitting in his egg-o-matic rocking the [censored] out in between boss appearances.

Guess the song from the misheard lyric 1: WHOOP THAT ASS AGAIN C'MON NOW WHOOP THAT ASS AGAIN! Work that sucka' to death, c'mon now, work that sucka' to death. Sonic CD (JP/EU) Boss Battle. Incidentally, anyone heard the song it's actually from? "Work That Sucka To Death" by Xavier. It's got Bootsy Collins on the bass. Yuss. Leather'n'lace, kick some booty. Sonic CD (JP/EU) You Can Do Anything. Toot toot Sonic Warrior... Toot toot Sonic Warrior...

While there's a hundred different songs I could post first up, the vocal track from SA2 first stage by the gay singer Ted Poley was always one that made me smile.

DO DOO DO DOO DOO DO DOO DOO COME ON! OOOOOO! ^ This. I always preferred Sonic 3's music to Sonic (3) & Knuckles - even before the Michael Jackson speculation started. ;D I like most of Sonic 3D's music, and dare I say it because it was much lesser quality, but some of the music from Sonic Chaos as well. :3 I remember when I first played Mecha Green Hill Zone and realised it was pretty much a remix of the Green Hill s Zone music from MS Sonic 2; squeeness. ;D

My apologies for going off on a bit of a tangent here, but would anyone be aware of where I could obtain a Sonic sound effects library? The jumping beep, the twinkle of collected rings, the star post chime, and so on.

I quite like Aquatic Ruin and Lava Reef music. Both the Lava Reef acts are tied for me, though there's also a funky remix on Newgrounds that I have loitering around my MP3 player all the time Lava Reef by Paul StetichMy apologies for going off on a bit of a tangent here, but would anyone be aware of where I could obtain a Sonic sound effects library? The jumping beep, the twinkle of collected rings, the star post chime, and so on. Would this help at all?

I like all songs from the Genesis and I'm not too picky, but one of my favorite songs from Sonic 2 is Hidden Palace. This is also one of the very few songs I think midi format sounds good on, because you can make that background music you here playing the main music, and the music you here actually sounds better in back to me, but I'm being a little nitpicky now. Flying Battery FTW. Zone 2's FB music used to creep me out because of that high-pitch music you usually hear in horror flicks, but it's nice to listen to. Act 1 is still my favorite. I also love Sandopolis just because I got lost in that level and heard it over and over again until I couldn't get it out of my head. It's catchy. And then for Sonic 2, I just LOVE Dust Hill Zone's music. (It would be Mystic Cave's 2P music in the finished version since the only way to play Sonic 2's 'original' version is to use an em and a beta.) Also I've never heard the EU version of Sonic CD's music, but I liked the American version just fine. Sonic 3D's Green Grove zone was my favorite song from that game, but I don't know which console that was on. It was the one they remade in Sonic Adventure for Windy Vally's 'Sky High' area, or something.
