At the 2010 event, AAUK said Summer of Sonic 2011 would be held on June the 25th, the Saturday after Sonic's 20th anniversary.
I'm putting this up now so anyone interested can start booking that weekend off work ten months in advance.

I don't think there's any way I'm missing the 20-year anniversary. Even if some of the photos did freak me out. Like the cosplayers. And the sweaty pits. ._. Basically, if I come, I'll just be sitting with you guys.

June 25th? Why, of all days, June 25th? THAT'S MY [censored]ING BIRTHDAY > Well that's me [censored]ed right off.

I don't understand. Are you somehow physically unable to do anything on your birthday? Like, is it the day you regrow your outer shell or something?
I may be tempted to come down for this one, though obviously time and money will dictate that more than anything.

Well I think my family would object if, on my birthday of all days, I scuppered their plans for me by swanning off to London for the weekend.
The only conceivable way I could get down there is if I somehow convinced my parents to take me down there as my birthday. Even if they agreed, therein lies another range of problems, such as they will insist on tagging along with me the whole day and the like (believe me, they're like that).
They probably won't warm to the idea of driving all the way down to London for a single weekend. And they certainly won't like the idea of me meeting people I only know over the Internet. And it goes without saying that we have serious money issues that are looking pretty grim for the forseeable future.

Weird, I had it in my head for some reason you were older. Still, I don't really think my parents would have cared what I did with my birthday when I was younger - but then, I haven't had a 'birthday party' since I was like 7, so it's not as if I'd really be interrupting the possibility of them having any plans. (Especially since my birthday has always been horribly located in the middle of [censored]ing exam time - kind of makes it difficult to have time for much else...).

I'm not going to start explaining here, it's too long a story. I'm saying no more on the matter.

I'll be there, I can confirm that because I'm no doubt going to save all my money like I do. I was considering contributing by either applying to become staff or seeing if I could animate an into like Boozerman or whatever. ...Or helping run the STC stall.
Either way, shall be there.

I tried to be at this one, but lack of affordable means was annoying.
Not I can hopefully get a much further advance ticket and hotel to make it easier. I do want to attend, if only for the STCO crowd.

Basically, if I come, I'll just be sitting with you guys. Aww thats a shame for me part of the fun was taking the chance to say hi to people I sort of knew but never met before. I might of scared them but most of them were willing to chat, even the organisers! I admit I was kind of scared at first, I organised a little meet at Wetherspoons and I got...one guy and a mom of an Aspergers sufferer with brittle bones who did EVERYTHING this dude wanted. While I can understand wanting to make your kids life a good one, I felt a bit sorry for her in a way... It made me worry a little at first. Then I noticed Fenikku and got talking. I even got to talk with Dreadknux a little! Heck I ended up meeting Ellie quite by accident because I kept ending up in the queue next to her lol. Some Sonic fans are a bit too devotional but there were a fair number of nice people to talk to. Sometimes stepping out of the comfort zone can be good for you

I might be working in England next year, so I'll try to swing by.

Honestly, the only reason I'd go is to meet up with you guys and maybe a bit of hero-worship for people like Nigel Kitching and Richard Elson. (Although if Crush 40 went again next year I'd be one of the 5 people that actually like them, so I'd be cool with that too).
I really wouldn't want to even try and interact with the wider Sonic fan 'community'. I'd be worried I might catch something.

Well, nothing will keep me away. I've already passed the word around so my friends and family that wanted to but couldn't make it this year can start booking off and saving up. It is going to rock.

If there was a separate STC-O meet the day before or after I'd go - I don't fancy paying for an event I know I won't enjoy.

I wouldn't take it for granted though, as this year was expected to be pay-to-enter, except Sega must've thrown some extra funding their way again.
One thing people seem to forget, is that the Sonic community in person is a lot more enjoyable than being online, everyone is far nicer in person than over the internet. The social aspect can be a lot of fun.
In any case, I have the date marked and am going to attend. And if I'm still stuck in my current job, then whatever, I'm the supervisor so I don't need to ask permission for that weekend off first XD

I guess I'm only concerned about going because I lost interest in Sonic in 1996.

I get the feeling we'll have to pay next year. It's getting bigger and better each year, so I'd keep some pennies aside just in case.

Johnny said Crush 40 would be back next year. And that he'd personally pay for the air-conditioning if he had to. Don't know how much we can hold him to this like =P.

hmmm... Depends if there is going to be a potentially good Sonic game demoed.
That or half naked women standing there.

I would definately go to next year's event if a load of STCO people were going. Also the 20 year anniversary thing would be kinda cool, if not make me want to get botox on the way back!

That or half naked women standing there. They'll be half naked sonic fans. Not worth the effort.

I'll be there. I'm gonna get the day off work then, maybe the whole weekend if I decide to stay down there for a couple of days. I'll let them know way in advance. I better start saving just in case it costs money next year.
STC-O must have a bigger showing there and prints/comics to sell!
