AFAIK, Pete, we'll all be sat together anyway. Have we actually been able to get permission from DreddKnux and AAUK to set up next to the Tracey and Dobbyn? Just wondering because this event is obviously going to be packed so free space may be limited. T-Bird (and I think DreddKnux) are aware and were happy to have us last year, and I'm sure they know we're coming again. Last year, since we were set up next to Nigel and Elson Wong, it would make sense that we sit close together. Think of it like Artist's Ally.

Yeah, T-Bird said we should all be sat together.

So, pretty big news that Yuji Naka and Takashi Iizuka will both be attending SoS this year!
No big deal or anything. I'm just gonna rummage around and see what I can get them to sign.

Great, who's supplying the stake to burn Naka at?

I don't think either of them had any real input in the Sonics I actually like

Iizuka was the senior game designer for S3K, as well as the Producer for Colours.

Looks like I'll get to chow down on Iizuka's gentleman after all.
Edit: By which I mean, see you tomorrow, folks.
Edit 2: If anyone registered, but then couldn't go, and has a spare ticket, that would be very appreciated.

So, what did you guys think of the "Running Wild" animation? It was done by Yuski.

So, what did you guys think of the "Running Wild" animation? It was done by Yuski. Is there any way to view that online? I'd be quite interested in seeing that.

Ah, Felipe Marcantonio! There's a blast from the past. I wouldn't mind seeing this at all when it's up online, his animation work is quite something.

I'll save my individual criticisms to defend me from the onslaught of backlash later, but that was an awful three minutes. Good art, though, even though parts look like he's just copying Elson bit for bit.

Stories of SoS: - Met up with Cal and Nam, who had the gall to be waiting at the actual rail station. - Met Retro en route to the centre, which was a nice surprise 'cos I didn't know he was coming. - Met Pete and Kimbo, the latter of whom I didn't clock at all at first sorry Kimbo! - Waited in line for ages, talking with Nam, who is lovely. Hope I didn't bore/annoy you too much. - Becky (Kirichao) spotted me in the line and yelled "What the [censored] are you doing here, you [censored]?" - Got my print, got a nice little STC pin badge, had a brief sweep of the con. - Hung out with the STCO lot a bit. Great stall - best of the fan lot in my opinion. I coveted those gorgeous print issues, I would like to give you my money for one. - Had a chat with Ian Flynn, who is a total mensch, wonderful chap. Talked about the STC/Archie rivalry a bit. - Got a wonderful Dr Finitevus sketch from Tracy Yardley, and confirmed the pronunciation of "Fin-It-Ee-Vus" from Flynn. - Talked with Nigel Kitching about Decap Attack (specifically Chuck's Savings) for a bit. Then he clocked me. (Paraphrased) Nigel: "What's the name you post under?" Me: "madhair60" Nigel gave a wry smile. Nigel: "Didn't you post some nasty things about me once?" Me: "HAHA DON'T THINK SO, THANKS NIGEL BYE" Lovely chap, very polite and enthusiastic. - Met up with Leanne (used to post here as Mango) and Waffles. - Got my print signed by Nigel Dobbyn. Coveted his Zachary/Knuckles print, but when I came back they were all gone. Maybe next year! - Gawped at Nigel's big book of original art. Next year, I will get a Homecoming page! - Played Sonic Generations, slagging it off to all in earshot with Lea and Waffles, also slagged off all other Sonic games. - Watched cosplay competition, until I got bored after six rounds. Silver won. Deservedly. Honourable mentions: Professor Pickle (totally in character), Amy Rose (so cute), Wes Weasley (hilarious), female Mighty (attracted to, for some reason) and obviously Becky as Cream. - Watched Sonic Shorts on big screen. Laughed a lot. Much better with a crowd. - Loudly yelled "PRRRRROMOTION" a lot. - Queued for aaaages to meet Yuji Naka and Takashi Iizuka, and got there just in time to get my stuff signed, which led to the best part of the day. Becky goes up to Yuji Naka, wearing this shirt. Naka sees it, and a curious look crosses his face. Naka: "What is that?" (pidgin english) Becky: "Oh, it's Rainbow Dash." *Yuji turns to Iizuka* Naka: "Ware wa... Lainbow Dashu desu ka?" *Iizuka shrugs* - Ate a chili dog. - Went home, pleased, and tired. The best thing about the whole day? It's actually reinvigorated some of that childlike enthusiasm for the series I used to have. Which is tremendously exciting. I must also stress that all of the STCO staff and posters I met today are absolutely stand-up people, lovely, helpful, polite and welcome. Good [censored]ing show, see you next year.

I couldn't make it down, due to having a bleeding birthday on the day of the festival. Get Svend to pick a different day next year.

I didn't have a ticket and didn't know I'd be free until yesterday, all of which added up to FOUR HOURS in the queue. I spent half of that in a grim thought of "if I give up now, the queue wins". It was such a [censored] I think it was one of Robotnik's plots. But it was fun seeing "Sonic" walk down the line so people could take photos with him, and there was genuine glee in people's faces over that.
Nice to put some faces to names and everyone was pretty cool.
EDIT: I saw four parents with young kids stuck in the queue as well, I think people with little'uns should've been allowed to queue-jump as it's more of a problem for them - we can talk to people our age while waiting, an eight year old just has Mum and Dad - and they're less likely to hang at SOS for the long haul.

Four... hours!? Tell me you're exaggerating. I thought the lines at the MCM expos were ridiculous, but that...? Truly, you must have the patience of a statue if you could stand to wait that long.
