have you guys ever heard of the Japanese manga of 1992 of Sonic the hedgehog? I'm talikng about the spin-off about the adventures of Nikki, normal and nerd-looking hedgehog, that in some way could transform himself into sonic the hedgehog to stop Dr. Robotnick with Tails and a first prototipe of Charmy bee. ;D If so please help me find informations on it. I have been making resources on it but all I can find are basic plot informations and a few arts on the "Sonic retro". The art is great some of the pages are fabulously coloured with wather-colors. I'm almost starting to loose hopes to find anything about it...... it's extreamly hard to find anything about it..... Attachments:

Ah yes, the infamous Sonic manga. Iirc, this is where the very first concepts of the "Amy" and "Charmy" characters came from, as you've already mentioned. Only vaguely aware of it, though, so couldn't really help you out with the overall thing. There may be someone else who has information on it though.

Ah yes, I remember the short snippet with that panel of Tails who looked suspiciously like he was trying to seduce Sonic with his sexy tush.

Robotnik looks like a halfway point between his original japanese game design and the AOSTH look.

Ah..this is very, VERY awkward. I put the site on the advertising board thread, but since it's of relevance here... I guess it wouldn't be too bad if I posted it again?I put it on the first page of the Sonic Story Comic, but you can go to the archive to jump pages. Edit: As ShayMay rightfully says, some of the translations can get a little...explicit. Obviously therefore it's NSFW.

Effort's appreciated, VEA (I can call you VEA, can't I? Cheers), but that's not the same manga. Still, it's not a bad read, if a little simplistic. Thanks.BIG FAT LOAD OF TRIPE, IT IS THE SAME MANGA. That was a weird change. Still, cheers, VEA! Edit: The second I finished posting this, I turn the page to find a Motobug saying (and I quote), "[censored] off, Sonic!". You might wanna put a NSFW warning there.

The 1992 manga starts here: manga.portalsonic.com/index.php?date=2010-08-03According to the 'About' page, it's not really one series, but 5 different series in different magazines. All that's been posted so far is one issue each of 2 of the series.

That's not a bad manga, there. Fairly pleasing to look at, and the effort has been made to translate the dialogue well. Found Robotnik verbal tic of ending every sentence with "Yes!" quite amusing, also noticed they used Spring Yard Zone's original production name of "Sparkling Zone".*
There is one piece of dialogue that let the whole thing down however:
Motobug: [censored] off, Sonic! Sonic: [censored] off yourselves!
I'm not a prude at all, but that is just completely inappropriate for inclusion in what is essentially a children's comic. Given the overall theme of the manga, coupled with the use of substitute words for even the more minor swears (heck, dagnabbit etc), to suddenly drop a double F-bomb out of nowhere is very jarring and unsettling. It sort of let the experience down for me. A very poor decision on the translator's part in my opinion.
*Why on earth do I know that? That is such an obscure fact it's useless, it's not as if I could utilise it for a pub quiz or Mastermind or anything like that.

Thing is, there are so swear-words in Japanese, so the equivalent of "[censored] off" would be acceptable for all ages. Of course, he could have just chosen "Get lost", or something.

That means absolutely nothing to me. I thought there were no taboo words, though? There were insults, etc. but no words that you couldn't use in front of children or stuff?

at times I wonder if in Japan they have any taboos for their kids since all japanese Mangas have bad words in them or inapropriated scenes and in old cartoons there were a lot of sex scenes as well (anybody remember Lady Oscar- The roses of Versailles?!?) I mean in an elementary comic they show as a bully forces himself on a girl?!?! XDXD sure it's all put in a simple way but........

what am I even talking about
Yeah, my understanding of swear-words are words which are deviant (and, in certain situations, such as in front of the Queen teacher, taboo). I thought the Japanese had no such words, just different honorifics, etc. which convey their thoughts on themselves and the person being addressed - there are no set words, if you see what I mean. I'm probably wrong, it's not like I know a lick of Japanese.

Don't even worry about it. Common myth, the swear words thing.

You can read up on it here.Turns out that the echidna on the front is not Knuckles, but someone else entirely. Which is good, because that picture was scaring and confusing me. And I'll be buggered if I can find scans.

Hmmm.. interesting to see how many different comic versions there are out there. Or were, I suppose.
The manga ones are really strange, there's no consistency to them at all. I suppose its to be expected since the games back then at least lacked a fleshed out plot, but still... rather confusing when reading them in "order" on that website.
Ive also seen some other Sonic manga which was more contiguous.. can't remember where I found it and what it was called. I seem to recall one of them had a lot of fart jokes in it... ¬_¬

To find it, use the drop-down menu 'Guides' > 'Books' > 'La Sirène' then select 'Sonic Adventures: Dans Les Griffes De Robotnik'.

Actually, I think what's there is all that there was; according to certain sources which I can not disclose (oh wait, Adamis isn't a secret around these parts...), the second part never was written up, instead being dropped in favour of...a really bizarre retelling of S&K. As in, it barely follows the plot at all and depicts Sonic and Knuckles as friendly chums. At least, I think that's what happened. My memory's down the drain due to moving to Uni in a week, so it's best to try and ask Adamis. The Manga update three times a week, usually on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. You just caught it in its three day break.
