Knowing Sega they will just ignore 1, CD, 2, 3 and K and just focus on the good Sonic games like Adventure, Rivals, Rush, Heroes, Unleashed and of course Sonic the Hedgehog 2006.
Seriously though I wanna see a seriously evolved version of the Sonic 2006 engine. I mean so the game actually plays good. With momentum and segments that dont take the control out of you. With hookers. And Blackjack. And Rouge with her bouncing ears.
In terms of Sonic's best bits in terms of moments not necessarly my favourite levels: Sunset Park Act 3 Stardust Speedway Act 3. Maybe have it start off Bad Future and as you start winning the race it turns good and if you start loosing again it turns to bad future again. Doomsday. I mean you teased us Sega in Unleashed of a 3D Doomsday. Final Hazard. Probably a bit more epic than Perfect Chaos considering there is a time limit on it and you have to listen to Eggman and Tails tell you about it. Lava Reef Sonic Finale. Come on climbing gingerly down an active volcano? Windy Valley middle section - Climbing out of a tornado. City Escape Start Kingdom Valley. This stage was so beautiful and it was ruined by a [censored]ty game. Make it good Mr. Sega.
In terms of levels that could be awesome in 3D - Labyrinth, Star Light, Palmtree Panic, Metallic Madness, Casino Night, Mystic Cave, Oil Ocean, Marble Garden, Ice Cap, Flying Battery, Lava Reef/Hidden Palace.

I'd like to see Scrap Brain remade as well as Aquatic Ruin, Metropolis, Wacky Workbench, Stardust Speedway, Icecap (with the original music, of course), Lava Reef, Sky Sanctuary, Death Egg, Sunset Park, Electric Egg, Gimmick Mountain, Sky Deck, Perfect Chaos, Crazy Gadget, Kingdom Valley, White Acropolis and Eggmanland.

Stardust Speedway. All the rest can go [censored] themselves (actually, there's more I'd like to see, but that's the big one), if there's a Stardust Speedway in there (with the JP/EU soundtrack), I will be bouncing off the walls. If there's a Metallix race, I'll crash through the walls. How d'you think they'll handle the story? Just a non-canon "hey, I'm Sonic, remember this bit?", him reminiscing about something, or Robotnik really doing something in said levels? Either way, I'll wait until there are more screens to form an opinion, but the only thing I will say is, what with Sonic 4 coming out (and more episodes coming soon afterwards), and Sonic Colours and Sonic Free Riders on the way around Christmas, it's nice to see that Sega aren't milking the franchise at all. >_> I know they have a tendency to use Sonic a lot, but I don't ever think I've seen so many games in development at the same time!!

If this is real, the cross over between this and Sonic 4's basic concept and content just has me even more concerned that there's never going to be anything more than an episode 1.

I don't know about that really.
Remaking stages would in theory reduce a lot of the time spent on art and enemy design.
Plus they wouldn't have to make a god awful story seeing as this is a "best of" remake thing.
They could just spend most of the time on making the gameplay work in 2D and 3D.
This is all in theory.
Plus I genuinely think they are trying with Sonic Colours. It has this strangely enjoyable charm. Christ I'm gonna buy a Wii...

Artists work on art, programmers program the game, specialists fill in the gaps, designers tie it all together. The day of a few guys doing art, programming and design is long gone for big companies, there is no division of time like is suggested outside of indie titles anymore.

Alright, Sonic's finished now, right? I mean, they wouldn't have the gall to make more games after this embarrassment, will they?
Oh wait, I just remembered, every console Sonic game since Sonic R. Duh, me. Tchoh.

you know? I always tought that an anniversary game/comic or something like that was cool, epic, for fans that always followed a series! And I always figured that an anniversary game should have been a mixter of traditions and innovative sides. But the the 2006 game came out and so now I've lost a bit of faith....I just hope I could get that faith back.... anyway as many have remarked...I would like a new "stardust speedway" too!

That was provocative and fascinating. By which I mean there was nothing there. I mean, it's the same thing that happened with Colours, everyone dismissed it because there was no trailer or anything, just a quick movie/Sonic artwork.

If these are just Mega Drive level remakes, the gameplay had better be like Colours.
Sega, you've been doing things right recently. DON'T BLOW IT.

Knowing SEGA and what I've compared to them as in the past, they play like the england team, in that once they get on a winning streak they start messing up on stupid things.
Which sport I hear you ask?
It doesn't matter! :-D

And we [censored]ing dominate Formula 1.
To be honest ignoring Sonic, Sega are actually quite clever.
I mean they get the guys who did AVP 3 times before to do AVP.

Every Sonic game ever - literally every single one - Sonic 1 through, say, Shadow the Hedgehog, on some discs, with copious extra material. Like, really extensive - I want both the SMS and GG versions of all the 8-bit Sonics, despite them being basically the same. I want EVERYTHING or I'm not buying it. I'm not buying it anyway but this should happen.

Sonic is 20 and yet we never saw him with terrible teenage acne... Also with the title "Anniversary", all I can think about is the Tomb Raider game... Sonic will not look good in hot pants and a tank top! Ah, jokey jokey - it doesn't surprise me they would try some sort of "birthday" release for Sonic. I saw a massive tent with a loooooad of Mario games in it for his 25th birthday here in Prague. (yes I am left the UK again! )

I'm sure it's not but I can't see any reasonable excuse for why they didn't put it on Gems Collection beyond "We absolutely HAD to hit the deadline for this collection of re-releases". Completists wanna play these things, that's all I'm saying.
