Kinda thinking of one for Christmas, but which? I've played only the Wii, and I like it, my bro has one but I'd like my own personal one. The pros and cons as I see it are thus: PS3 - v.v.v expensive, almost double the Wii price. + Has more "adult" games that would probably appeal to me + Blu Ray - Massive [censored] of a thing, I have very little space in my flat Wii+ Small + Cheap - Not many good games for it? - No DVD/Blu Ray I dont know what the score is with online play on either, bar the fact the Wii has a browser which, AFAIK, you now have to pay for? If someone can fill me in on the online capabilities of either, that'd be grand. Please state your case for either console, and list any games of note. (I've played Brawl, Red Steel, Wii Play/Sports, so don't mind those)

I'm voting for Wii. I understand you already have a 360, which would render the PS3 redundant in certain areas (specifically, the DVD player and the adult games). In addition, a large amount of the PS3's catalogue can already be found on the 360. Okay, there are a couple of PS3 exclusives, but not a sufficient amount so that I'd buy one. The Wii's a lot easier on your (student) budget, and is small and sleek, so you could fit one up your rectum should you ever need to hide it from the Police. As for games, Super Mario Galaxy (no slacking, 1 and 2), Metroid Prime Trilogy, Okami, Twilight Princess, Kirby's Epic Yarn, as well as upcoming [censored] like Skyward Sword an' that. Also, there's the plethora of awesome Mega Drive, SNES, NES, N64, Master System, etc. games on the Virtual Console, and the entire back catalogue of GameCube games, should you be able to pick up a controller. Of course, the PS3's got a fair few things going for it, like the Blu-Ray and such, and all the stuff you can buy off the store is awesome too. The big advantage, however, is the fact that you can curl up in bed and play it. Much as I love the Wii, it's a pain in the arse when I just wanna get under the sheets and play, only to be thwarted by waggle antics. The PS3 just... never appealed to me as much - most of the more adult games could be found on the 360, the version-exclusives didn't catch my eye, the pricetag is enough to act as a makeshift defibrillator, and you wouldn't be able to fit it up your rectum should the Police arrive. Both have free Internet browsing.

(I've played Brawl, Red Steel, Wii Play/Sports, so don't mind those) I vote for PS3, cos as you said, not a great deal of games for the Wii. It has it's perks though, and the browser is still free the last time I checked. Online capabilities for both consoles are that if you have full wireless, they will work off of a 802.11 g/n network, without any special wires or anything. You can get slim PS3's now, but they are quite expensive, as you said, but there is a more diverse selection of games, but the choice is completely down to you, Moo.

The PS3 Slim is really not that big - roughly the same size as a 360. So, that's one of those negatives pretty much gone.
I think it's a better idea in the sense that it's a good Blu-Ray player (still one of the best on the market) - however, it's worth noting that this year's a very strong year for the Wii and you may find more games exclusive to it that could interest you than you would on the PS3 right now.
A bit of a hard choice, especially when you've already got a 360, but if the Blu-Ray's a big part of the PS3's plus points to you, I'd recommend taking advantage of that and going with the PS3.

Nah, since another 360 sized object is going to pretty much fill what last remaining free space there is on my table. :T I dont really want the PS3 for the Blu Ray, but the fact it has one and-is-therefore-handy sort of thing. I dont intend to buy any Blu Ray films anytime soon really, but if say, a friend came over I could be all "hey, bring your blu rays!" and such. :T

It's a hard choice, but in your case I might go for the Wii. Granted, I find myself using my PS3 far more than either my 360 or Wii if only because of its free online and stream ability, but if you already have a 360 that is online enabled the only difference would be console exclusive titles.
If you're just getting a Wii now there's a considerable amount of games worth looking into just in the past 4 years alone. This isn't to say that PS3 doesn't have some great games that are exclusive, it's just that there tends to be fewer because 360 gets a fare amount of its great titles as well.
Some exclusives worth looking into on both, for your comparrison: Brawl Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 Metroid Prime Sonic Colors Twilight Princess Donkey Kong County Return Kirby Epic Yarn Epic Mickey New Super Mario Bros. Wii
PS3: Ratchet and Clank Little Big Planet 1 and 2 Uncharted 1 and 2 Valkyria Chronicles Demon Souls 3d Dot Heroes inFamous God of War 3

PS3 because contrary to popular belief, it has games.

Definitely a PS3 if you have no 360. If you have a 360, still get a PS3 if the other option is a Wii.
The Wii just won't satisfy you. There are some good games, yeah, but not long or immersive ones you can properly get into.
Also, waggling will wear off fast. The Wii stopped being about motion control and started being about replacing pressing a button for shaking it from side to side (which the PS3 also does very occasionally with the SixAxis).
PS3, contrary to popular belief, has the best online benefits of the 3, and the Wii has the worst. It has an internet browser that's compatable with more stuff (most video sites bar YouTube don't work on the Wii) and free online play. Now, the Wii is also free to play online, but only with friend codes. No getting bored and then deciding to have a random match on with random internetters- oh no, Nintendo are too afraid of paedophiles for that. You have to know someone's friend code and hope to God one of your four Wii-owning friends are online at the same time as you, playing the same game. Wii online gaming is a joke. The PS3 online is exactly the same as XBox Live, except free and you can connect the console wirelessly. So, if you like XBox Live, you'll like PSN.
I echo the thoughts of people that say if you already have a 360, you probably don't need a PS3. It's kind of true and works the other way just as much. On the other hand, you know you totally want Metal Gear Solid 4 and God Of War III. And if you want to play fighting games you will NEED that PS3 controller. I'd say there are enough exclusives on the PS3 to warrant buying one as well as a 360, but that won't ring true for everyone.
It also has PlayStation home, which is terrible unless you want to go up to people and hurl racial abuse.
CONCLUSION- Get a PS3 because the Wii is basically a waste of money, and if you have a PS3 AND a 360, there's nothing stopping you from getting any good game that comes out.
Break the trend, Moo. Just because you're a girl, doesn't mean you need a Wii.

Hmmm - I would say go for the PS3 too. It has online gaming for free, a better catalogue and has a decent browser (as Mitch said..). Also if you have a HD ready TV, the Blu Ray is much shinier!! Honestly I got sooo used to its graphics when I used my stepdads.

PS3, no matter what the reason for getting a Wii, all the people I've spoken to, and I think exactly the same, say things along the line of "Yeah.. I hardly ever play it anymore".

You can't get Metroid Prime 3/Collection on the Gamecube and only 5 people bought the Cube version of Twilight Princess anyway, so it's barely worth considering the concept of there even being one.

The Wii could've been a fantastic, ground-breaking console, but Nintendo turned it into a gimmick! Much like the DS, in trying to make it all things to all men, Nintendo have succeeded only in alienation the purist gaming masses in favour of the fair-weather fans who think it's a good idea for a games machine to double-up as an exercise trainer, cooking assistant and whatever the hell else gimmicky software Nintendo have allowed to happen.

And in the process, gaming in general has opened up to a far wider audience, with far more money coming in than ever before and much more general acceptance as a hobby and past-time than it could possibly have enjoyed otherwise.
Gaming currently sits at the second biggest entertainment revenue spinner in the UK - surpassing DVD and Music sales and coming behind the box office alone for now. It's absurd to say that this isn't a beneficial thing for gaming, and people who enjoy it, just as it's absurd to say it couldn't have happened without the Wii and DS.

What Alex said, although in my eyes, the DS is a perfectly viable console on its own. Yeah, it's got a huge amount of casual games, but that's balanced by a strong catalogue of games for gamers. Also, I don't really think we can blame Nintendo - after all, it's the developers of these casual games who are to blame for them. Nintendo are just making free money because of it, how can they say no?

What the [censored] is the point in this post? Do you want me to retract my accurate correction of Shadic's error? Go on, do one.

Except it wasn't exactly an error in the first place. Especially when you were only pendantically including the Gamecube - which clearly isn't what was meant in the first place (as, conventionally, a Nintendo exclusive would simply be a game that didn't appear on an Xbox or a Playstation, and vice versa... versa). If anything, it was correcting your inaccurate correction of Shadic's non-error.
So, no. I shall not 'do one'.

Alex's point was just that- Twilight Princess at least- didn't sell many for the GameCube and is somewhat rare. Both games are available on the Wii and not available on the other two competitors this generation, and considering the Wii's backward compatability, you can include the GameCube library as well.
So, you're right that they're not exclusives and Alex is right that when choosing her console, whether or not they were on GameCube is not worth thinking about whatsoever.
Now I said case closed, mother [censored]ers.

Alex's point was irrelevant, as I never once implied that these games' non-exclusivity should in any way influence the decision. I then go on to recommend the Wii, in the same post.

I consider an "exclusive" title as being a company exclusive more than a console one. Gear of War may be on the PC but I'd still call it a 360 exclusive.

PC doesnt exist as far as Im concerned.
When I go to a game shop and see that one game is on one system but not another, I tend to think "well [censored], its only on the Nintendo/Playstation/Xbox" not "well [censored], its only on the 360/Wii/PS3". I'd see Zelda as being a Nintendo exclusive as far as the GC/Wii debate is concerned. I know its a Nintendo series so I'd just merrily assume its on whatever console is out lately.
