He looks like a purple Gremlin.
To an extent, I enjoyed the last Spyro reboot, even if the execution wasn't perfect. Here though, it just looks like they're trying to emulate Pokemon, with a 'gotta catch(buy) 'em all' gimmick.

I get the feeling this was a buisness model concept to make a "unique" (read - money making) game as a medium.
Spyro is the "attached" bit here, not the mechanic, I'm willing to bet.

Wow. What is this?
I remember when Spyro was genuinely cuter than a human child. Got sold. Then they saw Sonic Adventure and thought that looks ok, but lets take it to 11.
And then what in the genuine [censored] is that?
I want to post the image of the Herp Derp Dog. But that Spyro is more retarded looking.

Huh. So, Crash is dead and Spyro's been mutated.
I guess that makes Rayman the winner.

Huh. So, Crash is dead and Spyro's been mutated. I guess that makes Rayman the winner. He got killed by bunnies, forever doomed to star in remakes of his old games. You said we'd see each other in Rayman 4, Murfy, you lying [censored].

He got killed by bunnies, forever doomed to star in remakes of his old games. The Rabbid thing put him out of action for a while, yeah. But then they announced this, made the Rabbids [censored] off and it's all better now.

Yup, I'd wager dollars to donuts that you are absolutely spot on, there. There's a trailer and, if I'm honest, it looks kind of fun to me. I'm not fussy about how I get my platformer fix.

Spyro's had a worse history for games than Sonic. Some have been great, some have been awful. This looks terrible - although the concept as a game does sound... interesting.

Spyro's had a worse history for games than Sonic. No, he hasn't. This is definitely untrue. All the PSone Spyro games were great, Enter the Dragonfly was a bit mediocre but perfectly playable, Hero's Tail was ace, and the Legend of Spyro reboot gave us three wonderfully committed, but ultimately average games. The GBA titles were great fun, except for Spyro Fusion, which is the only [censored] Spyro that isn't the DS's Shadow Legacy. Sonic, on the other hand, has more appalling games than he does acceptable ones.

Huh. So, Crash is dead and Spyro's been mutated. I guess that makes Rayman the winner. This looks (by which I mean stylistically, it could play awesomely) awful. I genuinely thought the changes they made to Crash were bad, but Spyro takes "messing up the look of a character made by another studio" to the next level. I'd bet that if Insomniac weren't so ecstatic to be working on Ratchet & Clank, they'd probably feel a bit sick to see what's happened to one of there old stars.

The game itself looks interesting, but the use of and redesign of Spyro is questionable to say the least.
There's nothing left of his original design in there.

My thoughts have ranged from ARGH WTF to 'eh' to ar game isn't bad idea in concept, and back to ARGH again. So have a comic I made about it instead of me typing new words. PlotChasm 14Seriously. Why did they call that thing Spyro? If they'd made it a new character, then I would probably not mind so much. Hopefully the gameplay redeems it :/

Seriously. Why did they call that thing Spyro? If they'd made it a new character, then I would probably not mind so much. Making it a new character would've defeated the whole reason they chose Spyro in the first place: brand recognition. They wanted a hop-on point that kids would recognise without having to shell out too much money. Not that I agree with it, mind you - I loved Spyro - but you can see the logic.

Oh, no I do get the logic, I just think it was damned cheeky of them XD But then, considering who they are, I'm not surprised Edit: I shall now call this gargoyle, Bob. Bob the dragon. It actually has a nice ring to it doesn't it.

I dont know, how long has it been since the last Spyro game? Kids tend to grow up. The only ones who don't grow up are the angry twenty somethings who played the Playstation one games. I only actually ever played the demos of the original games really. I enjoyed them but Tomb Raider destroyed my pubescent mind really. And F1 '97. WWF Attitude. Tekken 3. Then olde Dreamy came along.

He looks like a pug dog! Ergh. Hmm, the design of the levels look more like the original Spyro games, though. :s The idea of using nasty plastic action figures with the game sounds a bit crap to me, but then again I'm not a kid. They might like having their video game characters as toys...

I dont know, how long has it been since the last Spyro game? Kids tend to grow up. Because you can't play a game years after its release amirite? What? I mean if you can find Dawn of the Dragon on a game store shelf. With this game they are going on Brand Recognition. The last Spyro game was in 2008 - we are looking at 2.5-3 years between games and this one has tiny little toys so its for the kids. So unless the 7+ (age on Dawn of the Dragon box)(who are now 10+) want to get it they might as well have done it on a new license.

It's Activision. Why would they make somthing brand new when they own a license that'd work? Spyro must still sell pretty well for them to choose him though...maybe. After the stuff Activision have been pulling lately, I can't really explain it.

Spyro 1, 2 and 3 were the best. The first PS2 game (Enter the Dragonfly I think), I really did love but it was starting to move away from what I would call "Spyro" All the new breaths and such. Any game after that was a load of [censored].

Any game after (Enter the Dragonfly) was a load of [censored]. Don't understand this. Hero's Tail was class, and much better than its predecessor, with the GBA games roundly high quality, too (except Spyro Fusion, which we don't talk about). Opinions vary on the Legend Of games, but there's no way they're a load of [censored]. Perfectly enjoyable, high production values, lots of effort.
