With Mass Effect 3 arriving sooner then expected (...well, sooner then I expected, anyway ), I thought it might be fun to discuss our feelings on the previous two games, and how they're shaping our expectations of the finale. Any and all known details about the game can be found here (possible spoilers, so proceed at your own discretion): masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_3Personally, I can see two main endings coming up: Paragon players will very likely unite all the races together and end the Reaper threat, while Renegades will see just humanity doing the job, putting them on top of everyone else. I'm more inclined to follow the former; I really want to bring a peaceful resolution to the quarian/geth problem. Oh, and of course, feel free to make some rampant predictions, if you please. - Wrex will defeat a Reaper by head-butting it. - Renegade Shepard will have the option to say "Ah, yes. Reapers" to the Council. - The Reapers will by stopped a deus ex machina. - Said dues ex machina will be Conrad Verner accidentally pressing the "Destroy All Reapers" button. - Khalisah al-Jilani returns once again. A Renegade interrupt lets you throw her down the stairs. - Joker will be romanceable for Female Shepards. A series of bad practical jokes will then ensue, followed by EDI saying "That was a joke." - Garrus still hasn't finished with those darn calibrations.

I think the prevailing concept is that of the game being able bringing the galaxy together before moving as a fleet to halt them at Earth. Thats also my belief based on what we've seen in the previous two games given the decisions that affect which factions exist. The Rachni being extinct or not, the Krogans having the Genophage cure or not, the Geth being united or in civil war...
There's got to be something else lurking though. In theory, yes, a united galaxy could stave off a Reaper invasion that isn't used to a galaxy actually resisting them. But I have a feeling there's gonna be a few "edges" to locate and use, like the First Ones in Babylon 5.
Whether this leads to an ending dependant on how united the galaxy is? Victory? Victory at the cost of a ruined galaxy? A stalemate leading to eternal war? A grimdark apocalypse? Extinction? Who knows.

Mad predictions - Cerberus resurrecting the guy you left behind on Virmire.
Depending on whether Wrex is still around or not the Krogan join up with you in the final battle.
Possible threesome with Wrex and Liara.
If you romanced Liara you get the good ending. Because its quite clear you are to special hug her .
Final Ending has 16/17 + however many new squaddies you get in ME3 on Reaper hive mind action.
Some missions allow you to play without Shepard.

I think Shepard is going to have to come up with a plan other than uniting the galaxy. We saw what the power of a single Reaper was like. It wiped out a good portion of not only the Citadel but also the Alliance fleets.
Even uniting the all the races together with the best paragon they'll still gonna be heavily outgunned. My guess is that the attack fleet will be the distraction while Shepard goes into the heart of the Reapers with a plot device to wipe them out or some such.

I'm wondering what kind of pawns the Reapers will have working for them. The Collectors have been wiped out, but maybe they've enslaved other races in a similar manner to the Protheans. Then again, they may just have a whole cluster[censored] variety of Husks.

There was the Keepers who Vigil believe may have been the very first race to fall. It's definatly possible that there were others. Possibly ones that live onboard the Reapers to maintain their systems maybe?

Whatever the case, I'm sure we'll be treated to a lot more of Harbinger's creepy resonating voice.
YOUR WORLDS WILL BE OUR LABORATORIES.

Damn, I'm missing out. Same with Lair Of The Shadow Broker. Same here. Still, Bioware are usually pretty good at releasing editions with all the DLC on the disk (they did it with Dragon Age: Origins, after all), so they're bound to do the same with ME2, right? Right? Fingers crossed...

No they won't. Not for the 360 version anyways. They did it with the PS3 version up LotSB and I think that's the closest your gonna get to one.
Although I do recall you mentioning that you don't own a PS3 so that must suck pretty hard.

They might do a Game of the Year Edition or a budget version with all the DLC on disc or downloadable ticket.

Doesn't matter, anyway. I wouldn't buy a game I've already cleared 4 times and got every achievement for just for a bit of DLC.

Finished it myself.
Suddenly ME3 feels that much more imminent and tense, given the "timescale" this DLC puts on the story as a whole.

Done. It was good. Not as good as Lair of the Shadow Broker, but I did enjoy it. I liked the inclusion of an Independance Day reference in there.

I'm expecting moral ambiguity to the extreme. Choices made by paragon players early in the game may turn out to have unforeseen, terrible consequences in the third.
IE: Freeing the insect queen results in heightened tensions between Krogan and Asari, eventually resulting in the Krogans getting a new genophage or nuked.
It obviously won't be that specifically, but it's heading in that kind of direction. The choice at the end of the second game was far more murky.

I hope that they come up with some convincing reasons as to why Cerberus have turned against Shepherd to the point of trying to kill him. Especially given that the Reapers will have turned up by this point (I assume).
