This film was amazing.
Tell me you saw it and thought the same.

Was ok. A British comedy set in America was novel. "got a book?" "no..." "then [censored] off"

Was a bit wary initially, since I found Sean of the Dead to be pretty mediocre. Hot Fuzz was better, but it's still not one I'd go out of my way to watch again. But yeah, I thought Paul was pretty good. Was a bit mystified as to why all the reviews I'd read said that Kristen Wiig got all the best jokes - I thought she was the least funny out of all the characters.
Also, I saw the 'Aliens' quote coming a mile off.

I thought it took a little while to get going, but once Kristen Wiig's character turned up, it was great.
Arch: really? Wiig walked off with the film, in my opinion. A lot of the best lines, and the best actor in it overall. Mind, if you thought Hot Fuzz was better than Shaun of the Dead...
What? No, of course you aren't allowed your own opinion. Don't be silly.

Kinda surprised at the mediocre responses. But then, I hang out with a load of people who practically idolise Spaced as an ideal way to live their lives. And went through a period of watching Shaun of the Dead about once a week, just because it was there.
Was Sigourney Weaver's character meant to be a bit like the overwatching woman from TF2's backstory? (Or, more likely a reference to something I haven't seen which they're both influenced by?)

Samface: There were a few jokes created around her character (being a creationist, etc), but as for Wiig herself, I just remember her swearing a lot (which wasn't funny the first time), and being the token love interest. Nothing special really. The mate I saw it with said the same. When I say Hot Fuzz is better than Shaun of the Dead, I mean that it held my attention more. I didn't find either of them particularly funny - mustn't really be my type of humour I suppose. Was never a fan of Spaced either really.

Both TF2 and this are kind of a reference to the 1950's imagery of that concept, Black Ops does it as well. Loved the movie throughout, loads of varied types of humour from pop culture, wit, slapstick and a good few moments where you heard the audience slowly "get" it.

Surprised by the positivity, the trailers and publicity in general made this look like terrible. I'm still not convinced, everything about it spells disaster. Simon Pegg in a film not directed by Edgar Wright. Seth Rogen voicing a (presumably) pot-smoking alien. Jokes about anal probing (I checked the IMDB quotes and there are at least three). I'm sure I'm not missing anything.

Eh, I enjoyed it more than I was expecting. It's worth mentioning that the trailers really undersell the film. Okay, so a lot of bits are too sweary to include and you don't want to put all the best bits in trailers, but they could've tried a lot harder.

The mate I went with didn't want to watch it at all, based on the trailer, but after I talked him into it (the fact there was nothing else on worth watching helped), he loved it.

Funny you should mention that, I was listening to Pegg and Frost being interviewed by Richard Bacon a few weeks ago when the film was first out, and they said the same thing themselves. They were actually very disappointed with the trailers as a whole. I do want to see this actually, but in typical fashion I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD.

Who actually puts together film trailers? It's something I've never thought about before. Does the director give an outline? Is it all PR guys? Do the movie's writers or stars get a say in any of it?
Anyone know?

Me. It's all me.
Actually, I'm pretty sure it's a company hired to do it. You get specialist jobs like Trailer Editor. I think, I may have misread.
