www.sonicchesscollection.com/Yeah it's expensive. I'm thinking about it as a figurine collection, not chess pieces. Still trying to find the first issue to see the quality of the pieces, though. None in local Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's or WHSmith. Beeth, let me know if you find any =P.

Beeth, let me know if you find any =P. I'm sure you'd get a copy in if you asked your local newsagents to get them in. Shouldn't be a problem. Bugger me though, if I'd spend a hundred-and-odd quid collecting these. Not on my income! But aye, go right ahead if you like.

Chess; one of the slowest games in the world.
Sonic; one of the fastest games in the world.
I'm feeling a strange sense of pride and mortal terror.

Wasn't there already a Sonic chess set a couple of years ago? With the Rings as pawns and both sides looking the same, or something? This one does look good, though. Shame I don't like chess and aren't willing to pay that much for so little.

It looks good, but £7 per piece (+ £6 every time they feel I need a binder) is waaaaay too expensive for a chess set. I've only ever signed up to one magazine like this - Real Robots, back in the day. At least with that they just gave you the pieces, and it gave you something to do by assembling it yourself. I think it was cheaper too.

This is pitiful.
Edit: But you get reprints from old, bad issues of Archie! So, yeah, do it.

Chess; one of the slowest games in the world. You're doing it wrong. Just making a joke out of the idea of Sonic chess. ;-) Obivously you guys didn't quite get the lack of seriousness though so the joke failed, ah. I'd buy this, but this is like the time someone bought my brother the Simpsons chess set. It just got put away and has never been seen since.

I drew at chess once. True story. The guy I was playing against played all the time, and he said he'd never seen it happen before.

Why not donate to Japan Aid instead of this [censored]ing execrable [censored]?

Why not donate to Japan Aid instead of getting the bus and just walking instead?
Why not donate to Japan Aid instead of getting that bottle of coke tomorrow?
Why not donate to Japan Aid instead of getting that anime DVD you really want?
Hell, why not just stop spending money on things that you choose to, and just give it all to Japan Aid you [censored]ing horrible, unfeeling, despicable person.
Seriously Stu, what kind of ridiculous statement is that to make? If people want to spend their money on tat like this, they're entitled to without being made to feel guilty for doing so.

I just wish this was just a model collection not unlike the DC/Marvel collections rather than a chess set that you build up very [censored]ing slowly.
