To be fair, that would be pretty arse. A series like Mario or Mortal Kombat would lend itself well to a collection like that. Sonic wouldn't as only the core cast are any good. Can't imagine many people rushing to buy a Big or Omochao figurine.

I dunno. Both of the collections I said have some pretty obscure and [censored] characters in the collection.
Besides they get sent to your house when you subscribe. You dont have a choice, bahahahaha! (until you cancel of course)

Can't imagine many people rushing to buy a Big or Omochao figurine. But it doesn't work that way. This'll be one of those magazines where the first issue is in every single newsagent you can find, then the seconds in most, but each consecutive issue is harder to find, until about issue six where you either have to especially request it from your newsagent, or subscribe. This is why there are bonuses for subscribing early, it cuts out the middleman altogether, giving the magazine publisher a heftier chunk of the profits. This is how almost all of these x-ty issue sets work, as opposed to the ongoing publications which try to hook new readers each week, these try to build a dedicated fanbase right at the start, and then sell only to those people.

It looks good, but £7 per piece (+ £6 every time they feel I need a binder) is waaaaay too expensive for a chess set. I've only ever signed up to one magazine like this - Real Robots, back in the day. At least with that they just gave you the pieces, and it gave you something to do by assembling it yourself. I think it was cheaper too. Real robots was brilliant with cybot and Craig Charles narrating the videos.

Think I have seen this in my local comic shop they always have random things like this. Not sure what Issue it is that they had but will take a look and see if I can get a picture for you.

the peaces are nice though which is funny, considering that it is, you know, chess a game which is a war simulator, old style

Even though I am a [censored], I got a letter from Hachette today saying they've had to cease publication of the series due to circumstances beyond their control. Not bad considering I've never even seen a single issue. They sent me a free [censored]ty LED keyring.
EDIT: I feel I should point out my subscriber number was apparently 48 so there's no bloody wonder they can't keep publishing it.

Unfortunately it's about 18 years too late, really. This would have been huge in the early 90s. Even though his games are still big sellers, Sonic's star doesn't shine as brightly any more.
.....48!!!!!

But of course! View from above: As you can see, it's not even branded. That ruler measures in centimetres, by the way. View from below: That's the button you press to make it light up. View facing the light: A white light came out of here. The keyring, as you may surmise from this photograph, is already broken. After less than one hour. I think we can now safely realise what kind of operation Hachette are running.
