I did a similar thread last year, in which you helped me decide between BlazBlue, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Countdown. Blazblue just edged out the Countdown, with the (possibly) awful TvC recieving no votes whatsoever. I bought a fantastic game in Blazblue because of it, and have no regrets about my decision, for which I thank you all.
Now I call for your help again. I've just seen three games I fancy getting in the shop. Trouble is, they're all new titles, and as such they're full price, and I'm torn between them. I am saving up my cash, though I would like to try one of them in the at least relatively near future.
So, do I select Mortal Kombat, the rebirth/return/whatever of a popular yet frustrating fighting series I've always been a sucker for despite it's undulating quality? Maybe Portal 2, sequel to a fantastically original puzzle game containing further story development and many new puzzles, though a little expensive for now? Or WSC Real 2011, snooker simulator featuring up-to-date players and tournaments, and...... well, full-on intense snooker action?
Should you accept the mission, my gaming fate lies in your hands.

Buy Portal 2 on Steam, save £10-£15 depending on the shop, wait a couple of weeks and get MK pre-owned or on a deal with the money you saved by not wasting money on the console version of Portal 2.
Sorted.

Super Saiyan 4 Goku: In an ideal world, I would buy on Steam. Though I have a relatively slow connection so it would take ages, and a relatively crap PC so it would probably suffer terrible slowdown. Hell, two demos I got from Steam recently, neither of which are particularly demanding, are incredibly slow, one to the point of being actually unplayable (a racing game, even on it's lowest settings with all non-essential programs shut off to free memory, refuses to run smoothly for 2 seconds.) I'll take on board your suggestions though, cheers.

Portal 2, ideally for the PS3 if you have one, which then gives you access to the vastly superior PC version for free via a code if or when you get a better system to run it. Also, tips are that PS3 will have all free DLC.
Mortal Kombat's price will plummet very quickly though, fighting games always do. I see it happen every day in the shop. So I'd advise hanging on a little, even the new copies drop quick.

I would have to agree with Portal 2 (although I've not played it). From what I've heard from everyone, it really pushes all the right buttons and is an all-around solid game. Mortal Kombat goes down in my estimations for two reasons - one, it's a fighting game, and those are usually best played in multiplayer. If you can't get online to make full use of the multiplayer feature, I wouldn't pay full price. Two, Retro's absolutely right, in my experience, fighting games tend to go down in price much faster than other games. And finally, I didn't pick snooker 'cos it's one of those things that I think is much more fun to play IRL. Also, I have a snooker table I'm wanting to sell.

Portal 2 for definite. Even though I haven't played it yet. But it gets my vote.

I has 360 anyway, so ner.
And with fighting games, tis true, their prices go down remarkably quicker than most other genres. One of the advantages of being such a fan of the genre, really.

Get Mortal Kombat. As good as Portal 2 is, you'll definitely get more hours out of Mortal Kombat. That's the beauty of fighting games.

Portal 2. Admittedly the only one of those three I've actually played, but it really is very good.
Then, like Retro says, wait a couple of months for MK's price to plummet. 'Tis what I'm doing.

KITLER D: Portality. Finished Portal 2. Playing through MK. I'd go with Portal 2. Before the memes really take hold and spoil you. Constantly had me laughing. MK will always be awesome because there is a lot in there that people wont be bothered to find Reptile quotes Kermit the frog

Portal 2, if only because as John says, there's a lot more to get spoiled.
Also Portal 2 because it's really goddamn good.

Well that's settled it I reckon. Unless a mass of other boomers come in to vote otherwise, Portal 2's the choice I'm making. Judging by everything I've heard so far, I'm really looking forward to playing it. Cheers folks.

Don't look at the number of votes; look at whose opinions you value most.
Get Mortal Kombat you stupid prick.
