gimmegimmegames.com/2012/01/sonic-sega-all-stars-racing-2-in-development-for-wii-u-3ds-and-ps-vita/It's a surprise, really, that it's taken this long for any possibility of a sequel to come around - though it's probably also worth baring in mind that the platforms mentioned are also new platforms that obviously didn't get the first game originally, so it could just be a port like the iOS release a while back. Though they do say it's brand new... If it's real at all. I hope it is, though. The original game is actually really competent - if a bit daft in the concept of having Sonic running around in a car. But, the tracks were fun, the game was well made and much faster than Mario Kart and multi-player was a blast. More of the same, with even more heaps of retro/nostalgia pieces of fun thrown in is very much desirable.

So, to recap:
-All Stars Racing 2 -Storybook 3 -Sonic Dimensions -Sonic 4 Episode II
So far, it seems only that second is real and even then it was hinted at in a chatroom-based Q&A with Sega Mexico(as I recall). The fourth one too, of course.
I hope All Stars Racing 2 is real, however! I hope they use some newer music. I wonder if Lee Brotherton will return to give us a vocal theme.
(Never mind after Generations I'm dying for a new vocal theme so Sega better gimme gimme gimme)

It's only the second that I've seen hide nor hair of. And the vocal themes can chew my 'nads.
Anyway, yeah. SaSASR2, eh? Good show. Just make sure you either keep a constant stream of DLC, Sega, OR put in enough to satisfy everyone from the start, a'ight? And by "satisfy everyone" I mean like, don't miss out Ristar and NiGHTS, and other such obvious characters. Also, Toejam and Earl pls.

It's only the second that I've seen hide nor hair of. As I recall, they hinted at it in a QnA. Sega Mexico and Sega Spain are usually the ones that leak information. Course, they've yet to indicate what story they'd adapt. But they did state that the door's still open and the Storybooks aren't discontinued as would seem. As I'd hope, given that if a failboat like the Riders spinoffs can keep getting sequels, I'd hope a game I genuinely like gets a sequel. To each his own. Sega's on my side though, barring Gens. Ten Mobiums says they will forget all about those. Sega puts Naughty Dog to shame in terms of how it buries its non-Sonic characters so they never see the Sun.

The last game had the Bonanza Bros and the little ship from Fantasy Zone. If those aren't obscure, [censored] knows what is.
Sega just knows that Nights and Ristar are fan[censored] wet dreams, so the more they tease and hold out, the louder the collective fangasm groan will be when they deem it time to give people what they want.

In recent years Sega can't decide whether they're back on their feet or not, alternating between good ideas(Colors/Generations) and bad ideas(S4E1/Werehog). Hopefully that is in fact their plan and they just don't have an obnoxious tendency to throw potential cash cows under the bus.

Oooo, I loved SaSASR, I'd love for a sequel to expand on that :3 I wonder if there'd be a footrace option for the faster characters, like Sonic, Shadow and NiGHTS if he bothers to join in this time...It would be interesting, and I'd love for a taunt having Sonic run backwards ala Heroes and X if so :L

It is interesting they don't let Sonic and the faster characters run, but he'd likely still be slowed down and would look odd.
My idea for him being in a car is that he loves a challenge, and so deliberately handicaps himself to give the other chumps a chance.

I think the main issue is Sonic being run over by the cars. That would result in hilarity. You could run him over and he'd be perfectly fine with it. Or wait, no, you could bump into him but be unable to go past. So from a realism perspective, it does make sense they don't mix cars and runners... because hilarity ensues.

Its probably a remake of the first version if its coming out on all the consoles that dont exist yet.
Will get if Honey or Bayonetta is in.

Well. Bayonetta having a car makes about as much sense as Sonic having one, I suppose.
But yes, I hope this isn't just a remake, though chances are it is. Pretty ambitious releasing it on a Nintendo console, though - it'll have to fight Mario. ((Who will of course win the battle not necessarily due to quality but likely due to bias on the part of the reviewers but I digress))

Sonic was put in a car due to technical difficulties - specifically "on foot" characters in an early build were glitchy beyond belief - there is no greater reason.
I'd welcome a sequel to All-Star Racing. Just make sure that this time they don't nix DLC before it really makes the game great.
Or, y'know, just include all the stuff in the first place like a reasonable company.

Bayonetta. On her motorbike from that one level. With After Burner Climax Mix. ...[censored], I wanna play Bayonetta now.
But yeah, what Cain said. My main problem with SaSASR (besides the ridiculous acronym) was that it really didn't feel like a full game in terms of character and level selection. If they can pull out all the stops this time, but keep the same basic formula (which, imo, was better than Mario Kart's), we'll be in for a winner.

My problem with All-Stars Racing is that it was released nearly two years ago, and yet I've still never seen the 360 version on sale for less than £20, regardless of how pre-owned it's been, when in the meantime games released around the same time are routinely in single figure sums. How even the [censored] does that work

Some more series-centric items wouldn't go amiss, actually. The boxing gloves and the like just feel a tad too generic.

More variety in level selections this time round rather than just focusing on a few games plzkthx.
- Panzer Dragoon course - Phantasy Star course - Shining course (oh god imagine the final battle from Shining Force 3 in racecourse form, going from up along the dam down to across the drawbridge and into the castle, with the Colossus trying to zap your arse) - some other stuff too

It would be nice if they did include more characters so it's not just a Sonic game with a few extras attached. Then again, "Sonic" is half the title so that does make sense... but they could certainly include more characters I'd think. I don't recognise half of them. My problem with All-Stars Racing is that it was released nearly two years ago, and yet I've still never seen the 360 version on sale for less than £20, regardless of how pre-owned it's been, when in the meantime games released around the same time are routinely in single figure sums. How even the [censored] does that workSupply and demand possibly? I don't know. Still very odd, that!

^-This.
What they need to do with the roster, though, is include a couple more people from the same non-Sonic games. I know that's not really feasible for some Sega 'classics', but there are plenty of Golden Axe characters, for example. Shouldn't be difficult to include at least 2.

Do we really need Pudding and MeeMee in karts? Admittedly they added with some (Virtua Fighters!) but they took out NiGHTS untill they realised that it could be Flag...thing. It was swings n' roundabouts. The roster could have been a lot better. Also in our minds we are comparing it to the 3rd iteration of Smash Bros which doesn't help. Obligatory mention that the reason why Sonic drives cars and hoverboards is to challenge himself and prove that he is the very best, like no one ever was.
