New trailer launched for Assassin's Creed III, despite all the leaks over weekend making it seem a bit pointless having a countdown and all that jazz. However...this looks... awesome! I have to say, Assassin's Creed is something I have only really recently got into. I remember playing the original version with Altair and getting a bit bored, but recently I got a hold of Brotherhood and Revelations and I am hooked (or you might say... hookbladed? aaah!) Looks like this time there is no hidden bladeness, in favour of a bloody tomahawk! And that the new "ancestor" is going to be stuck in the middle of the American Civil War. Neato. In all honesty, I was a little upset finding out Revelations was the last we'd see of Ezio... and why does old Ezio look sexier than young Ezio?! XD but this trailer and additional screenshots make me wonder if the third instalment of the Creed series will be like a mix of the old AC games and Red Dead Redemption. And that would kick endless amounts of ass. Anyone else drooling?!

Rather the exact opposite for me. Although this is just one trailer, already it seems to have thrown out everything that makes Assassins Creed reliable as a series. AC1 to ACR were all about history told from the grey area of political reality married to speculative sci fi. But now...
Historical authenticity? Well that's gone in favour of AMERICA YEAH. Native Americans helping Americans? Do Ubi know the natives supported British rule because they would give them their land?
Feels like it's an investor driven game to a big game market known for loving to harp on about that war. I dearly hope I'm wrong and this is just some marketing moron screwing up, but it's certainly not casting AC3 in a good light at all right now.

I did see somewhere that the British would not be written as "we're evil overlords, rawr!" As you said, grey areas and all that. Also the story does have to lead to America at some point... why not make it a significant event in American history?

Plus so far other then the assassin killing some redcoat's there no sure evidence that this is america good/british bad... (though I expect the templars to probably be british) but only because as the older historically group they are more likely to be full of templars.

Well there's not that much to go on yet, but some of the preview stuff says the new character's father is English (methinks). So it might be that not all of the British characters are Templars. :B
Sorry, language brain fart.

I think it's fair to use the native American point, when the game thus far has been highlighting it wants to use it one way, it's on Ubi's point to (hopefully) portray it in a more mixed way, not me. But it's in all the little adding up details that sell it. From the new logo being Red white and blue (which doesn't also represent Britain, the iconic colour of Britain then was red) to the bald eagle being the new iconic bird...it just all feels like it's adding up. As I said, hopefully this is just all marketing bluster to appeal to their largest market. But it is a worrying indication.
