It fair amazes me that it took until Sonic X to think "Hey, why don't we do a cartoon that actually references the games?"- and even then the games were about ten years old and yet the stories had characters from a year or so in them. IIRC there were some elements to AOSTH that were taken from games, albeit subtle or minor things. Like Coconuts, Im pretty sure he was a badnik in Sonic 1 before he was in AOSTH? And a version of Grounder from Labyrinth I guess too.

But SatAM is DARK and SERIOUS and MATURE so you have to recognise it's the best! I prefered Sonic Underground (I pretend the songs don't exist) because at least it wasn't stuck in the same bloody forest all the time and we didn't have Sally & Antoine. (But we did have Sonia's voice, sadly) Yeah fudge Sally can't stand her, allso I get why people are all like but Jim cuinfd robotnik is so scary and evil, but to me he just sounded so camp, forget menacing, try mincing. Allso if he's so Sam clever why hasn't he burnt the forretdown? You know where the furry woodland creatures live, where else would they be?

One thing I've learnt about our old mate Eggman, is that whatever his plans entail he will generally go about them while causing as little destruction as possible, in order to preserve resources which would prove particularly useful, practical or otherwise simply necessary to keep the world, and thus his empire, sustainable. Were he to simply destroy the forest around him he believes he would be wiping out potential resources in the immediate area, putting himself at a considerable disadvantage were someone from further afield to launch an attack on him. In short, his plans are strongly constructive, rather than destructive. While this could be his key flaw as to why his plans keep failing, you can see why he regards this the best style of plan.

And a version of Grounder from Labyrinth I guess too. Both were actually Badniks in Sonic 2 before they appeared in the cartoon (Coconuts appears in Emerald Hill, while Grounder bursts out of the walls in Aquatic Ruin). Don't know where that leaves Scratch, though, as he doesn't look like any other Badnik in the games to that point (aside from maybe a modified Clucker).

Yep. I had seen AoSTH before I had got to the Wing Fortress Zone, so my reaction to seeing the Clucker for the first time was AH-HA-HA-HAAA! XD Ahh, AoSTH was boss. I didn't like SatAM mostly because of Sally, I didn't like how she was the leader and Sonic was pretty much her lackey. :s Also there was not enough Tails for my liking. Underground just confused the hell out of me. Whu.. Sonic has siblings... and he's royalty? The hell?! I saw only two episodes, and I watched it only because on first glance I thought Sonia was Amy! XD

Yeah, I've never understood all the SatAM love either. I didn't get into it as a kid, and I can't get into it now. I remember always asking myself "who the hell are these people?" constantly; they completely stole the spotlight from Sonic and ruined the Sonic/Tails dynamic. Sure, STC had an extended cast too, but the focus always remained on the main game characters. Plus even as a kid I couldn't shake the feeling that the show was taking itself waaaay too seriously.

Ah yeah, I was thinking of 2 with coconuts but wrote 1. Nevertheless, theres a grounder-esque thing in Sonic 1 Labyrinth anyway.

Whu.. Sonic has siblings... and he's royalty? The hell?! And apparently they were active monarchs, so when Robotnik is deposed and the Queen dies, Sonic will be responsible for the running of the entire planet. Mobius is [censored]ed.

Dress robotnik up as Henry the eight riding a horse hunting them down and that would be a sick episode XD seriously though if it wanted it to end spicy it should have gone with robotnik going mad and burning the Forrest down in a last resort to get sonic and have a showdown in the burning Forrest. that would be sick.

Because it's MATURE and GRITTY and proves that Sonic is totally targeted at adults.

Because it's MATURE and GRITTY Especially when Sonic says things like "MONDO" and "JUICE".

Netflix has the AOSTH cover for bloody SATAM. There I was thinking I could watch AOSTH in bed.
