Are they aware that this game is like twelve years old?
Are they aware that they have SURELY played it if they're attending a Sonic convention?
Why, Sonic fans? Why?

A re-release of a 2001 game that was slightly above average at best, and they rejoice like that? Sounds about right. Wonder what the eventual reaction would've been had something like "Sonic Eraser" appeared instead of SA2.

Can't wait for them to forcefeed us Sonic Heroes again. Can't wait to NOT buy that game again. Ever.

Who's betting "SA2: Battle upgrade" will be DLC?

I would buy Heroes again if it was locked 60fps, widescreen, and let you turn off the hint balloons. Not even kidding.

The fans are genuinely enough to make me feel ashamed to want to buy this.
The actual video from Sega tickled me, though. A knowing self-deprecating nod is always welcome.
Some people seem to be getting the confused idea that this is a remake, though. It's really not (or at least, it's extremely unlikely). I'd be satisfied with working in an online mode for the multiplayer Battle stuff, though. The racing levels are actually pretty fun to play with a friend.

I'd be happy with them fixing the bugs present in SA2:B and making A-ranks attainable by human players. We'll see.

Who's betting "SA2: Battle upgrade" will be DLC? Depends on the version of City Escape we get... Also, doesn't the Jet Set port have camera control with the other stick? So we might get that here as well? Also: LT. Man Up. When the zombie apocalypse comes I need guys with all A ranks on their Sonic Adventure 2. OK? ok.

Are they aware that is is, in fact, quite [censored]? Agreed I like adventure 2 but it's gameplay isn't all that the story's bland and yet every one claims it to be the best sonic game ever made . Say anything bad about it and the fan base will instantly call you a failure. The anouncment video shown at sonic ion just made me hate the adventure 2 fan base even more. Adventure 2 isn't great it's good but that's about it.

It's not even good. I loved it when I was twelve because I had a very low quality threshold, but as I've gotten older and have learned how to think I've realised that it's really pretty poor. Even Sonic and Shadow's levels are frustrating, glitch-ridden messes, especially towards the end. The story is awful, the graphics are crap, the gameplay is a step backwards from Sonic Adventure's (which was already suspect) and the only reason I reckon people love it so much is because they love Shadow and want him inside of them.
Even though he's [censored] too.

Never saw the big attraction with Adventure 2, mainly because of the reasons that Shay cleverly pointed out above, It just really isn't that big a deal. I further found it inferior because of the seriously uninspired environments, and the frequent re-use of mundane stage tropes.
At least the zones in Sonic Adventure were memorable.

Yeah, I find myself letting Sonic Adventure away with a lot more as it seemed to be genuinely trying. It had momentum physics and places to use them, and bright, vibrant levels with a perfect, interesting soundtrack to go along with them. It felt like a Sonic game, and so I'm willing to forgive it, despite its glitchiness and wonky camera. I still maintain that Sonic would have had a much more consistent quality had Sonic Team focused on tweaking the SA1 Sonic sections to perfection, rather than amplifying the crap bits for Adventure 2 and removing the appealing parts.

Won't be getting this. I never saw what all the fuss was about first time round, and I don't see it now. Even back when it first came out it felt like a serious step back from the (already suspect) first game; it just didn't feel like a Sonic game anymore, on top of exacerbating several of the flaws from the previous game.

wow ok wow here is how things go, as I have frequently maintained:
sonic adventure 1 is absolutely terrible. I bought it on psn because oh my god guys it's sonic adventure but after a week waddling in nostalgic ruin I concluded that the only thing that is salvageable from it is in fact the music, which is frequently quite good.
but the game proper is so massively, comedically bad that i'm amazed I could ever even play it in the first place.
this being said:
sonic adventure 2 is frequently genuinely good as a whole, even by today's standards. say what you will, but unlike its direct predecessor actual goddamned effort went into its creation.
the shadow and sonic levels remain to this day the only example i've seen of 3D platforming working in a sonic game.
if it is in high definition, with bumped textures and no windowboxing, I will definitely be buying this, yes please and thank you.

SA1 is clearly the better game.
Laundry list of things I didn't or don't now like about SA2:
-The camera is horrendous -The treasure hunting levels, but none of you needed telling that -The mech levels are boring -Weird level design -Boring bosses -Many of the final stages that take thirteen years to play through -Shadow
It really hasn't aged well at all but, all that said, it's still much better than many of the (already suspect) games that have come since.
