What is it with Sega/Sonic Team releasing numbered sequels over a decade after the last game? Sonic 4 really had nothing to do with the first 3 and there have been plenty of chronological, plot-related games since SA2.
Also it's not going to happen.

Surely we're past this point now?
Unleashed's day levels, Colours and Generations are such a step in the right direction, why go backwards?
I suppose it's to appease the fans who want to play as other characters.
If it's legit, of course.

Who said they were going to go backwards?
Sonic 4 basically played like Sonic Rush without a boost button and a bit of an Advance 3 throwback in the second part.
"Sonic Adventure 3" will play a lot like Generations and Colours. Sonic, Shadowski and Blaze will anyway. I mean christ take away the boost button, drift and side step from Sonic when in the Sonic's ass camera and you have basically the Mach Speed Sections from Sonic The Hedgehog 2006. Which was Sonic Adventure 3. *cough*
The interesting thing will be people like Knuckles and Tails. You know the characters that might actually be quite fun to play in the 3Ds.
Or maybe they cracked it. A balance between tight controls and momentum in 3D.

It could also just be a matter of brand protection. Even if Sega has no immediate intention of using the name, they have to protect the trademark (which includes domain names) or risk losing it.
For example, there are a load of trademarked Pokemon game names (and a fair few domain names to go with them), but the majority of those haven't - and possibly never will - actually be used.
Of course, if you do have a game called Sonic Adventure 3 due for imminent announcement (and it is past due for the next major Sonic game to be revealed), one of the first things you'll do is go out and buy the domain names you need for it. Although the sheer breadth of those domains tilts reality closer to simple brand protection than the fanciful hopes of a sequel to SA2.

(and it is past due for the next major Sonic game to be revealed), Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed. SEGA's confirmed that it's the big Sonic 2012/2013 game.

If Sega do announce Sonic Adventure 3 it could make their stock price rise....maybe
Though seriously there would be a lot of people hyped for it.

were gonna get a whole ton of video of song adjure 2 fans screaming/crying/shouting about how they were right, how they predicted this after 2s re release how happy they are arguments going on about how it should play what sega should do whinging about how much time they lost in the chao garden going on about how this is Sega's greatest achievement . God I honestly hope adventure 3 isn't announced. Thats just the tip off the ice berg. We are not going to hide from this at all, every gaming site is going to be spammed by adventure tards. just like the time Game trailers said adventure 2 is not a good sonic game. Man the fan base nearly exploded. Time to build my moon base retreat.

If Sonic Adventure 3 is revealed, surely Sega will learn what went wrong in Sonic Adventure 2. Or do you think they haven't learnt at all from past mistakes.

this is game trailers top ten over rated games all over again Can't find that video anywhere on their website (mind you, that godawful redesign doesn't help). What exactly happened there? Mind you, I don't hold much stock in their opinions after the Best and Worst Sonic Games debacle.

I want this to be Sonic Adventure 1's Sonic levels, but done correctly. Heaps of exploration and momentum-based platforming. Bring back the elemental shields or some analogue thereof; something to really reward exploration by giving you an advantage. Find some way to remove the homing attack (I'm thinking Insta-shield for extra range), it kills the flow in every game it's been in. Give us vibrant, memorable levels, with a brilliant soundtrack complimenting them. Infuse every moment of the game with imagination and interactivity - keep stretches of holding forward to a minimum. Give us incentive to stray off the beaten path. Perhaps some Eggman capsules for extra points or completion status; perhaps giant rings to access Special Stages.
Too much? Alright, give me more of Generations' modern levels. Take inspiration from Rooftop Run and Seaside Hill especially.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing a Sonic Adventure 3. The idea of being able to play as other characters to increase longevity isn't something I'm against: I reckon you could have great fun with a game with Sonic, Tails and Knuckles as playable characters. Sonic takes advantage of his speed, Tails can reach high pathways inaccessible to the other two and Knuckles can dig, climb, and smash walls to reach hidden pathways. You wouldn't need three completely different gameplay styles; just a slightly different focus.
A man can dream.

Well some people are dumb for saying that sonic 06 was part 3 of sonic adventure I mean really if it was going to be part 3 the sonic team or sega would say it was oh and sorry for calling some people dumb for thinking it was.

People sometimes say that because 06 and the Adventure games contain a lot of similarities.
I wouldn't necessarily agree with them, because 06 and the Adventure games have very different art styles, and general direction. 06 was meant to be "realistic" whereas Adventure 1 and 2 are very cartoony and stylised. Also I'm sure back in 2006, Sonic 06 was being presented as a reboot. So no, it's not dumb that people make the comparison but I'm not sure I entirely agree.
Anywas Sonic Adventure 3. So not going to happen.

Hmmm I dont entirely agree that Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were cartoony. I mean was it the limits of the Dreamcast or was it intentional?
Sonic 2006 really did look like a sequel, visuals wise from Sonic Adventure. I mean Emerald Coast/Wave Ocean. Nothing was really stylised to look like anything from 16bit Sonic. And terrible Final Fantasy games. Kingdom Valley really did look nice though. Would have rather had that level in Generations.
Unleashed, while using real locations as a base did look cartoony.
I mean for a "Real" Sonic Adventure 3, I would want a game without Boost, momentum, [censored]ING SPIN ATTACK and level design developed more on exploration rather than point a to b. And Tails and Knuckles. Playable. I wouldn't even care if Big was playable if it was good enough. Getting myself hyped for nothing. Seriously.

I don't doubt there'll be a sonic Adventure 3 some day. The name's gonna be used some day and you know it.
it probably won't play much like Adventure though
