So yeah, as Sonic Generations was released on the PC late last year, there have been a fair few mods for it, ranging from the absolutely pointless...
...to the actually fairly cool. Not the music, though, mute that.
There's also a project going on to port the entirety of Sonic Unleashed's day levels (cheers, Beeth) into Generations.
No, I don't know why you'd want to either.
Any cool ones you've come across? Even if you can't use them (in most cases I probably wouldn't anyway), it'd be interesting to see more.

Not the entirety of Sonic "Umm" -leashed, just the day levels. Though I agree, pretty pointless if you've already played through that game.
I much prefer the more viable minor mods (like the "character swap" mod mentioned above) as opposed to the massively overambitious full-size levels, which while pretty good for fan efforts mostly look too simplistic, open and incomplete to make a satisfying playing experience.

Sonic Melponterations A mod that will eventually have a Sonic 3 level, Shadow level and a Sonic 4.2 level. Maybe.
Sonic Adventure Generations. YEah

Sonic Adventure Generations. YEah I love Sonic's aesthetics in this one. The way he runs, the sounds he makes when he jumps/rolls into a ball, the drifting model, it's all really appealing to me. I love how open the level is as well. This looks great.

That's brilliant, I'd love to play that! Is it modded from a current level, I don't recognise the layout?

Sonic Generations Adventure? Nah, I believe he did the whole certain areas inspired by the original levels but they are original.
People are porting over Sonic 2006 and Adventure 2 levels as well though.

Some of these are actually pretty good so far.
In a rare successful example of turd-polishing, someone is working on a port of Kingdom Valley from the wretched Sonic '06. Despite the abysmal source material, and the acknowledged fact that it's very unfinished (just 2 weeks activity as of the provided video), it speaks volumes that it is already leagues better than the painful game from which it is taken.
EDIT: Removed the comparison, as it was an insane speedrun which didn't really accurately represent the crapness of the stage, and I cba to find a suitable replacement to demonstrate this.

Why not?
In all seriousness - the level design of Sonic 2006 was better than Adventure to Shadow. It was just everything else that was bad and worse than anything that came before it.

Level design. Platforming. Exploration. That thing.
Not art. Christ no.

Sonic '06s levels were, as with the rest of it, dreadful. Linear, repetitive, uninteresting, 10-minute+ chores, every one. They also had a nasty habit of deliberately wasting your time through arbitrary, gimmicky bull[censored] (see Shadow's vehicle sections, or Silver's ball puzzle), or obscuring your path to the goal.

Yeah thinking about it now... I was only really thinking about some segments. [censored] it.

Sorry if this sounds like I'm hammering a nail home, John, but I think that the Generations/'06 mod shows just how [censored] '06 really was. Even with a better engine, less glitches, and little extras like Super Sonic, the level design can't look anything other than bland.
It shows just how broken it is on a fundamental level. The people who are able to excuse '06's glitches still don't have a leg to stand on.

I still think some segments of Sonic 06 wouldn't be that bad but yeah. Lots of meh. The mach speed segments really show off how [censored]e the controls were though.

The thing with Eggman Nega is that when he was half revealed he looked kinda cool. And then it turned out he is an old man in a red jumpsuit with bee boots.
Not a Generations Mod but the Adventures of Pelé the Beloved Dog. Same guy whose been doing the Sonic Meltroponterations. Also Pickle: Unleashed. Edit:
Here is where I still say Sonic 06 kinda had good level design despite evidence to the contrary.
Nice Flame Core port though. Liked that level in 06. Love that the music changed in this.

I know I am new here, but am I the only person who did not hate 06 as much as all of you. Its not the worst game in the world....I did not like it, but I did not hate it.
I have not play Generations, but I might get it for the pc cause these mods are very cool.
