Are we still on this, its not the worst game ever lol. I can list 5 to 10 games that are more crappy and suck way more then Sonic 06, it maybe the worst Sonic game ever, but not the worst game ever.
Now on topic, what are the specs to run Sonic Generations on the PC? Cause my computer is really crappy I think, but I love all these mods.

If you're using Steam the specs should be on the Store page. You can also use Steam to check your own specs and capabilities, under Help and System Information.

It doesn't really matter if it's in the top 5 or 10, it's still absolutely dreadful. Why would you waste your time playing it when you could be having fun playing a different game, or going outside, or improving your life? You could start by not playing Sonic '06.

I never said it was not dreadful, people just blow it far out there by saying its the worst game ever when its clearly not. Also I just got done replaying it with my two friends (we play a game every time they comes back from college) and they only time we ever ran into problems, was during Sonics Super speed level parts and fighting Silver as Shadow, and a think we feel off a few times during the Train level. But other then tiny little mistakes by us, we never had a problem. It was still a really, really bad game. But we had fun, laughing at the problems, and playing the game. There are ways to have fun, even if the game is bad. If you're using Steam the specs should be on the Store page. You can also use Steam to check your own specs and capabilities, under Help and System Information. I don't have steam, is that the only way to get it? Also I loved the Game Grumps playing this game >.< so funny. And it sounded like they had fun playing a bad game, it can happen.

I think that much of the backlash against '06 comes from the fact that after an increasingly shaky record in their attempts at 3D platformers, coupled with their now inexplicable hype-up about how they were "bringing Sonic back to basics" with early announcements of the title, they went in completely the opposite direction. They didn't go back to basics at all, but rather threw up a convoluted and inscrutable storyline, and far from learning from past mistakes they somehow managed to arse up pretty much every aspect of gamplay and level design in there.
There was potential to be seen in a number of cases through the game, at times too much of it. Too many gimmicks and ideas that ended up being half-baked. I speculate that even if it hadn't been rushed out in a clearly broken and unfinished state, had they taken the time to fix and refine every aspect of the gameplay that they started on, this would still only have been an, at best, average title, with a sheer cluster[censored] of gameplay mechanics and gimmicks that would baffle even the seasoned player, regardless of whether it was all done correctly.

It's honestly not playable. I was once going to do some "funny" videos playing this allegedly awful game, but it's genuinely not playable. And I'm not bad at games. In fact, I'm brilliant at games.
There are no excuses or "what-ifs" to be said about it. The design and every aspect of it was terrible before you even take into account the fact that it is literally unplayable.
There have been a lot of bad Sonic games. A lot. More than there have been good ones. Sonic Heroes, WiiS2 Unleashed and Sonic Chronicles are the foulest of the turd hamper that I care to mention, but at least I could get from beginning to end.
And out of those three, Heroes was very glitchy. Design flaws and simply bad ideas aside, the game had a lot of glitches and unfair moments, yet even that attrocity functioned to the point I could get to the end.
There has never, ever been a game that I've not been able to complete because it's too broken. There are games like Comix Zone where it's been too intentionally difficult and games like LA Noire which were too boring, but Sonic 06 is the only game that is so indefensibly broken that I cannot reach the end because of it trying my patience.
You randomly shoot off of paths to fall into a pit of death; mach speed sections give you almost unavoidable obstacles that you can't not run into due to the way in which you just avoided another obstacle before it and are still in the air from a ridiculously long jump; five loading screens in a row that are all 30+ seconds long; weird and uncomfortable jumping physics; walking throgh loops and defying any scientific law I've ever known, followed by disappearing through a floor and dying; set-pieces that fail and kill you.
There's no way anyone can justify it being a good game without simply being someone who loves Sonic too much that they are sexually attracted to him. They're so in love that they will justify any of his actions- like a pathetic woman justifying her abusive boyfriend.
But if you really love Sonic, that attitude is a disgrace. Accepting things like Sonic 06 is the opposite of demanding better. When a guy is inside you for 14 seconds, don't tell him he's the best sex of your life- inform him that you're not satisfied and that he needs to step up his game.
I understand this was Hyperbole Mitch, but part of it were way to over the top, and vitriolic, as such it has no place on the forum. Thanks

If a game is not Playable, its not beatable, as long as you can beat a game you can play it. And like I said, I only ran into a few problems, and mostly with the Sonic Super Speed parts. Its still a bad game, its just a playable bad game, and not the worst as well.
But anyways, in case anyone, like me, wanted to know the Specs for Sonic Generations:
Minimum Requirements Microsoft Windows 7/Vista/XP Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 (2×2.0GHz) or AMD equivalent 2GB RAM (Windows 7/XP)/3GB RAM (Windows Vista) NVIDIA GeForce 8800 / ATI Radeon HD 2900 11 GB free hard drive space
Recommended Requirements Microsoft Windows 7 Intel Core i5 @ 2.66 GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.0 GHz 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 / ATI Radeon HD 5850 11 GB free hard drive space

On a different note, I don't understand how Borderlands is even in the same class of "worst games" as what we're discussing. Not even the same phylum. For what it's worth it's one of the only shooters in the past ten years I actively picked up and enjoyed. To say it's "dull" surely takes a mind so incapable of processing fun that taking cocaine in Disneyworld must feel tasteless and grey. Currently loving the sequel. I didn't say I thought Borderlands was bad. I just enjoyed it less than Sonic 06. Because I found it dull. And I have [censored]e friends who go 20 levels in front of me. And my guns did nothing. The areas were too big. Blah watch yahtzee and he just hit the nail on the head. Basically I kept on dying because I was fighting level 50 enemies. My guns did nothing. I kept levelling up but I didn't have any real time to assess what I should be levelling up. The vehicles handle like something out of Sonic 06. Plus I never really had the time to get comfortable and play it. Its not "lets have an hour of death match game." I have a night job it makes arranging time to play games [censored]ing awkward. Borderlands 2 is better though. But that might have been because me and my friends were about the same level. I evidently didn't experience the same game people have but I am a man. A man that didn't like Borderlands. There's a number of us.

i now have a perverse urge to see the entirety of sonic 06 running on the hedgehog engine as it would have according to the early e3 demos and such just to see if it would have been any good
probably not

That was awful. There's little to defend of Sonic 06 and especially Crisis City, but at least there was a semblance of a level back then. This mod is barren and boring. Humbug.

God alone knows why you'd even feel the need to mod in Crisis City in the first place, considering it's in the game by default. Isn't that an exercise in redundancy?

Because its a completely different layout in 2006 compared to Generations.
And also all hacks if you think about it are an exercise in redundancy.

Even with the decent, non-glitchy Generations engine, it is glaringly clear that '06 Crisis City was a rushed and ultimately very poo effort.

It looks as though at least the snow buildingboarding sections function, unlike the awful mess that was boarding in '06. But it's still Crisis City and it still makes me want to cry.

Crisis City pretty much was the worse stage from Sonic 06 to use. All it has going for it is the music.

I never understood why they even used a level from Sonic '06 in the first place. If you want to celebrate your franchise, I would think that you don't acknowledge a game in it that absolutely nobody (except the clinically insane, maybe) liked.

I imagine - they had the art assets, the composer for the stage on board and a major part of promoting Sonic 06 was Crisis City. So brand recognition etc probably won out over common sense.

Anyways - MOAR PICKLE UNLEASHED, please... Internet? XD

It is a part of Sonic game history, though. I didn't like that it was there but I guess they can't ignore it. I think they could have ignored it, were it not for the arbitrary rules they imposed upon themselves. There was no reason for there to be three eras, each with three levels, they could have just cherry-picked the best levels.
