Loving it! I'm not quite sure how to put it but this issue felt like the Sonic the Comic of olde. Reading through it was too fast, though in the sense that you become immersed and it's over before you know it. Also Gizoid! Really looking forward to the next issue!

Just a quickie review, I'll have time to do a full one later but, to summarise: I think this is the best issue you guys have put out in a long time. Great stuff. Will elaborate later, as I said, but pats on the backs all around.

I think this is the best issue you guys have put out in a long time. I second this. The art is fantastic and I liked the stories, they had a very STC feel to them. I'll elaborate after I've had a good read, but I'm really liking the mix of action with Sonic and Knuckles' stories and humour with Big's. Also, yeeey Gizoid! More game adaptation is very welcome IMO. While I don't mind seeing non-game characters as they appeared all the time in STC before, interpretation of the games is a must. The expansion into social media is encouraging as there's only so much this creaky old forum can do, but I had no idea that STCO was affiliated to any other Sonic media? Also... I'm sorry to say this but the idea of donations to the comic worries me. What happens if this puts STCO on Sega's radar and they see that people are paying money for it? Would they shut it down? I'm sure you guys know what you're doing, but still... as a fan comic for free it's safe in the fanfiction category!

The donations aren't for profit, they'll just be used to keep the website running.

Christ alive, that Big strip is hilarious. I thought 'Kill Big' part 2 was his best moment but this tops it by far. Plus new Zones, old characters (Steve Owl! Basil Poultry!) and a laugh a panel. This is brilliant.
You've totally outdone yourself here, Shay. Three great stories (although I feel the Sonic ending was a bit odd, more later). I agree that this is the best issue in ages. Everything worked well, even the Breaking News ticker still interests me.
My only gripe is reviewing SA2, a really old game, when you acknowledge that games like SASR Transformed and the new Jump are out. Still, I'm glad there's a review at all.
Nice going, chaps.
Quick note: The background image for the Tails poster's by Dobbyn, not Elson.

As Stiv said, it's not for profit, just to cover the costs of running the site (which aren't that small and will continue to increase the more work we do, unfortunately). The alternative would be ads, and I hate ads! Obviously, once the site is all paid for I'm buying a yacht.

On-the-fly comments:
- Amazing cover. As a massive Prince fan, this spoke to me.
- First story's fine, no complaints. Art is a little bit off.
- Knuckles' story is slight but well-drawn and still enjoyable.
- Big's story is brilliant, one of the best things you've ever run.
- "This is Sonic Adventure 2 pretty much as you remember it, for good and for bad." that is not a sentence
- Nothing else.

Ok... detailed review! Cover - hilarious. I didn't actually look at it that much when I did the proofreading, so seeing the subtitle this time made me laugh all the more than when I first saw it. Nice to see Smithy's work again as well. Control/Data Zone As I said before it's great to see all those social media links, I hope it does wonders for promoting the comic's readership. I'm still a big fan of the news ticker, all these little extras in fact... I do miss Encyclopaedia Badnika but I imagine it took a lot of effort to write each issue. Sonic - great conclusion, very nifty use of the STC-universe Star Posts. I'm now wondering, since the Wing Fortress crashed into Robotnik's own base, if it means he still has the Star Post to use elsewhere in his other evil schemes? I also wonder how he could have possibly charged it with enough kinetic energy... whereas before he needed Sonic to use one to get to the Brotherhood of Metallix. Hmmm, interesting. I liked the characterisation in this as well, Tails has shown some growth in that he could back-chat Sonic, but its interesting that he didn't do it to his face! XD Sonic's dialogue was also great - I've been getting used to the Sonic of the games so it was nice to read old STC Sonic again. I've always liked his more gruff personality compared to the chipper, relentless positivity he is normally given in other media, and Shay writes STC Sonic very well indeed. The art is great as well, really dynamic. Pete has done a fantastic job and I can really see the improvement in his work (that's meant to be a compliment, not a dig at his older work! XD) I think his colouring is spot on, but some of his character work still needs a few nudges here and there. Having said that, most of his pose work and expressions are still very good. Big This was bloody hilarious! Great stuff, and very nice contrast to the action in the other strips. Adamis' art was great as always and Pete's colouring really compliments his linework. I like all the little details in it as well such as the driver of the truck... wheeee!! :B The bottom three panels of that page were a real comic gem, as well. Fun story, great use of the non-game characters and a good way to round off the comic. More Big like this, please! Wallpapers Nice, great designs - although I think I am keeping my Wing Fortress one from last issue! :B I wuvs it. WUVS IT! Review Timely review since the Steam version just came out! Not much to say about it, really... whatever comments I wanted to make on that game are already in the Sonic's World threads! Overall - a top quality issue, very reminiscent of the old STC. Oodles of Kudos to Shay for his amazing contribution to this issue, and I'm hoping he has a lot more in store for us! Pete's art is getting better and better, and it's encouraging to see veteran contributors like Smithy and Adamis still showing their stuff! Keep up the good work, guys! Sorry I [censored]ed up the spoilers, so shoving Knux last... Knuckles I am amazed by how much work Shay has put into this issue, I was even more amazed when I noticed he had done the entirety of this particular story. Woah, dude! And again, I really like the story - it has enough action and great pace, nice little sparks of humour, and the use of the etched words is a smart idea! I also think this story uses Porker as a character very well. The art is also very nice, very bright compared to recent issues which were quick dark in tone. As I said before, I'm really happy to see the Gizoid - and the arrival of another game interpretation in the comic! I also love his design, he looks similar to the Guardian robots, and by the looks of it... has Knuckles' style hands?! As for the skeleton - it does make me wonder what this means for Knuckles' people. Does the skeleton imply they are all dead?! Edit - Eee! Eee! I just spotted the Drakon, Sonic and Knuckles hieroglyphs! Ohhh that is one hell of a plot tease!

This issue really is a testament to Shay. Every single story just captures the feel of the original STC so well, stripping things "back to basics" of just a few characters, and really making each story shine just on what the story is, without worrying about where it fits in the big picture. It has action, humour, intrigue, all wrapped up with glorious visuals, and interesting premises.
I'm honestly not sure if it was intentional to make all the stories be by Shay and Shay alone, but it was a great decision, and he deserves more stories. These might not be deep, thought provoking gems, but what they are are simple, entertaining, strips that Shay really should be proud of.

This was fantastic, especially the Big strip. More like that please, whether they star Big or not!
Sonic story was a decent conclusion, definitely a pick-up from the first part of the story. I was slightly confused how Robotnik was using the Star Posts since I thought only Sonic's speed could activate them, but I did like how they were used.
The Knuckles story was good quality, but not enough happened for me to be enthused by it yet. The action scene with the traps, while good, doesn't add much to the plot, and probably could have been shorter or cut out entirely. That said, the art is good (bright is definitely more appropriate than dingy for this comic), the characterisation is good, there's a setup of an intriguing mystery, and we've got an interesting teaser at the end. So I'm hopeful for future installments.
But seriously, I'd be happy if you just did three more strips like that Big one. I cannot fault it. I'm particularly impressed that there were several panels in which the story was told entirely through the art, not through dialogue, and what dialogue there was was short and snappy. Some STC-O strips have been unfortunately over-burdened with text, so this is a great sign. The art is fantastic (at least after page 1, which is merely good), and perfectly suited to the tone of the material. This strip is the first STC-O strip ever that I immediately re-read, and I've already read it more than I've read any other STC-O strip. It's just brilliant.

Ladies and gentlemen... we present to you... Shay the Comic.
This has been a real pleasure for a lot of us; Big especially. I was saying the other day how this really feels like STC of old, and it's down to Shay's writing for the most part. Snappy writing, funny jokes complimented by Adamis' great work. I would go on to say that the Big story doesn't really need dialogue as most of the jokes are plain to see!
Thanks for the compliments on Sky Chase, folks. I hope people can see improvements, but I'm concentrating a lot on my colouring over the last few issues, which I'm really enjoying.
And dat cover... mmf.

Very enjoyable issue. Was initially a bit concerned when Big's story started off with a meeting between 'The Family' (I'm not their biggest fan, if I'm honest), but it ended up being my favourite strip. Excited about the Sonic Battle adaptation too.

Big was amazing, even if I was a bit confused by the story. Re-reading it now.
Oh hey Gizoids! Looking forward to the story.
Sonic was fun enough.

Absolutley brilliant, through and through. I take off the hat I am not currently wearing to Shay! The writing of every story in there genuinely felt like STC used to feel at its prime, right on the nose. I dare say this is one of the best issues in STCO's run so far. Sonic: Very dynamic, very succinct, lighter and darker moments are pretty well balanced. I was grinning like a maniac at the "Run for your lifes!" exchange on page 5, so daft but I loved it. Only gripe was that said joke didn't need to be essentially repeated on the very next page. Overall, a fun read, and a nice little self-contained adventure. Big: Love it. From start to finish. Possibly my favourite strip to appear in STCO to date, and I don't say that lightly. Especially since it rescues a character that for such a long time has had a reputation for being written very poorly. Trucker Bark was a nice touch, an excellent example of comic timing with the beat panel near the end of page 4. Side note: for some odd reason I read Big in a "Kermit" style of voice rather than the stereotypical mentally challenged voice he's normally landed with. It fits better, I think. Knuckles: Continued the whole classic STC feel that was going on, started out engaging if a little generic, before entering into an unexpected development on page 4/5. Very well set-up, looking forward to the next part of this story. Cover is wonderful, if slightly unsettling. Namely the background. Is that supposed to be Sonic in a fur coat or something? Crossdressing as a film-noir damsel? What the hell is that? :S Well done.

Fun fact, fact fans.
With the inclusion of Bark, every playable character in the Sonic series prior to Sonic Adventure has made an appearance in some form or another in STC/STC-O. If E-102 Gamma were to somehow appear, that would push it forward to Sonic Battle being the next one with unused characters (E-121 Phi in multiplayer mode, to be precise).
But whatever.
Another edit: Yay for the cover head. Although it does seem to look a bit odd with the comic's current layout...
More edits: Adamis is slowly replacing Mobians with Pokémon. Is that an Umbreon driving a car in Big's strip?
