Of slight concern are the rumours that Nintendo will acquire Sega/exclusivity rights to Sonic the Hedgehog. If they do, it might spell an end to Sonic the Comic as they're extremely protective of their copyright.
But other than that, cool! Digging that aesthetic, very Mega Drive.

I've been watching the fallout on SSMB.
This is pretty immense news. On one hand, Sonic being exclusive to Nintendo does feel really really weird and also... yeah... I don't have a WiiU *throws tantrum*.
Would there be no more STCO if Nintendo buy Sonic? Which they haven't.... as far as I can tell... the deal is Nintendo will publish the next three Sonic-related games, including this, the next Olympics game and one more. Sounds like Sega is keeping Sonic, and staying independent of Nintendo. They've probably just got funds and resources from Ninty in return for the exclusivity.
As for the game, it's a nice picture. Looks like Eggman has started building his own zones! No more details other than this so can't really comment on the game itself.

It looks like Sonic Unleashed meets Sonic CD meets Blockbusters.
Also, not too fussed re: exclusivity to the Wii U. SSMB needs to chill themselves out a little, it's hardly on the level of Sky/BT nicking all the sports and sticking them behind a subscription wall.
Don't go getting ideas, games companies

Ever since Mario games have apparently been the cute and cuddly Call Of Duty. To be fair they never actually come down in price so I haven't played them all.
Its only a 3 exclusive game deal apparently. And one of them is Mario and Sonic 2014: Winter Son.

Not much to go on with just a single screenshot. But the modular set up makes me think that the Skylanders Sonic game we were rumoured to be getting may not be far off the mark.
Re: Nintendo exclusivity, as I understand it, the Nintendo Sonic games have always sold very well (even the [censored]ty story book games), while the PS3/360 Unleashed/Generations were less impressive than they hoped for. It makes a lot of sense, really - especially since Nintendo really needs something for the Wii U.
I expect more information on the game will leak out over the course of the next few weeks due to Sega's usual leaky faucets in their marketing departments.

oh my god! their going to make a new sonic game! I can't wait! I had a feeling that sega was going to call it ''sonic lost world'' man that game looks awesome! it looks a little bit like sonic colors but who knows this game might be like sonic generations and that game was awesome! man and this game is on 3DS too!

The plane's been red since 2008  Looks nice if a bit too NSMB-ish, not just on the choice of level tropes but on the designs themselves, the rounded trees, etc. I find that cloud world in the distance curious, wonder what it is. |

More info on the 29th of May, eh? It's almost as if they know it's our birthday! Regarding the exclusivity, Sonic has had loads of exclusive titles for Nintendo in the past; The Olympic Games titles were all for Wii, Colours was a huge game and was only for Wii, There hasn't been a handheld title on anything but a DS since Sonic Rivals so it's hardly unprecedented or anything new. It's a shame, as I'm not a huge fan of the WiiU but if the game looks good I'll buy one maybe in the sales next January or something. Colours was fun though, and if they're going down that route it should be cool. The third game intrigues me, I hope it's another "real" Sonic game rather than a gimmick game like the Olympics or Riders... In my dreams it would just be Sonic Generations 2. No story required, just loads of classic levels lovingly recreated... Nintendo are not buying Sega, nor are they buying Sonic. They've got enough troubles of their own right now without taking on Sega's myriad messes. Maybe if the WiiU had been a success and their profits had kept on going up but the whole console seems to have been a little bit of a misfire and with EA dropping out of making any more games for them getting some exclusive Sonic titles (which have historically always sold better on Nintendo consoles) is a smart move on their part. I doubt this will effect STC in any way. But if it does: boo! hiss!  |

It's been kind of amusing watching the meltdowns on sites like SSMB and Sonic Retro. Problem is, so many have already written off the idea of ever owning a Wii U in any way whatsoever, that the idea infuriates them that Nintendo would do the clever thing and actually get games people would want to buy the system for.
It's a lovely catch 22; Wii U doesn't have games, so it shouldn't have games because it doesn't have games.

There's a Green Hills level, a Forest level, a Desert level, a Beach level, on the South pole what appears to be tundra or perhaps deep water, to the East of the planet there's a Savannah level, north to it an Ice level, north to it a Volcano/lava level, and behind it a Cloud level. |
