Of course! We can never have too many artists, really! Okay, so I did a bit of nosing (sorry), and your stuff is great! That said, I haven't seen anything in the way of sequential work, nor much in the way of backgrounds. Would it be all right if Megadroid e-mailed you the sample script? Just complete a page or two from that, to show us that you can do it, and you'd be a shoe-in.

I would love if Megadroid sent me asample scrpit Should I send an email to Megadroid asking for it then?

I tossed Meggydwoid an email too... although I do have some more stuff in the works which might be a little more relevant to what he's looking for!

Well, he can't let that colour his decision, Stiv... Megadroid's a professional.

Plus as far as Megadroid knows I'm one of the mod monkeys, which reminds me... I need to pick up Megadroid's Special Bre... er, I mean Friendly Robot oil. :B Seriously, I thought that was the procedure, and what this thread was for! XD But yeah, sorry.

I could possibly send some stuff in, though my best drawing is all done on paper. My ability to draw with a mouse or even a tablet is rather limited, so inking and colouring could be a problem unless someone else is willing to do it.

... I draw everything on paper. Pencils + inks. There's no problem with that.

I've had a go at the sample script and pushed my pages in front of Megadroid's optical sensor array.
ie I've sent them to him.

Something I posted somewhere else that can be told here too :
One advice I always give to any artist applying for art in STCO (and other comics) :
Backgrounds ! Work on your backgrounds ! Make them live ! The characters are not living in a blank space or cities devoid of life. Look at the comics you like and see how the backgrounds are ! Backgrounds are as important as the characters. Learn to make a good use of them (and some panels can work without one, learn when to not use a background !)
I've seen some applications where the artists either show bland backgrounds or simply just characters. That's not enough.

One of the best ways to put this in action is to not think of what you're drawing as 'backgrounds' but as 'environments'. The character aren't acting against a blue screen, they are existing in a space. When you think of your characters as a part of a world that you're creating on the page then you're really starting to tap into what makes comics great.

Take these guys' advice to heart. Make your characters interact with their environments as often as you can (see my 'Silver Landing' on how NOT to do it). Make the characters' actions affect their environment - easiest Sonic example I can give is, if he's rushing off at super-speed, give us some dust-clouds and grass and trees blowing in his wake! Also, perspective and dynamic movement are really handy as well. Draw a 'line of action' to really strengthen your work, and then tilt or contort the background to draw focus to it.

If we're chipping in advice about backgrounds as environments, while I find backgrounds the less fun part of the job I do enjoy world building and find that deciding where in a scene to have "landmarks" (which can be as simple as a lamppost right up to a complex laser death ray) which can then be redrawn in numerous panels in a scene to help with getting readers understanding the change in perspective to be a more creative way of looking at the problem ideally you have one quite detailed establishing panel at the start of a scene with lots of detail, then clever use of landmark objects will suggest enough detail for the readers to connect the dots, which also can save a little time Hope some of that helps!

Personally I love backgrounds, and I find them so interesting to create......too bad I'm so bad with perspective and always end up having most troubles and screwing them up Anyway I miss so much doing anything for the comic. Could I take care of some wallpaper or cover?

I'd love to apply (after I finish up with a few page Sonic story, all my other comic examples are old and make me want to cry) but honestly when I color everything looks flat. And I read that artists on here sometimes don't even do the coloring, which makes me wonder: how would someone else color it? Do they do it on paper, digitally, does it vary?

Mostly digitally. You scan your lineart at a decent resolution (300 or even better 600 DPI) and submit it to our amazing team of colourists.

Hey, I've tried to contact Megadroid via a few different avenues and never heard back. Any advice? Hi Megadroid is some what slow. I know he's had your message. In fact I know he was meant to be getting in touch with you. The droid is getting old now most people update their computer every two to three years but we've had the came robot for over 20. I will post a reminder to him not to remind him to get back in touch with you. Sorry for the delay hope this helps Matt

We've recieved some submissions, but did you use your forum name, or another name ? Did you include any sample of your art/writing ?
