@lt - oh yeah! We totally planned it that way... yep... >__>; I especially love Shay's work on Brutus and the brotherhood - works really nicely as a montage! Miru actually asks a really good question here, so thank you! At the moment this feature is only planned to cover the original print run of STC. As well as being a great celebration of 20 years worth of stories, the intention is to have the timeline linked permanently to the front page to get new readers up to speed on stories and continutiy they most likely will have difficulty accessing. As we have all of STCO's back issues accessable on the website it will hopefully be less neccessary to sumarise those stories and I hope encourage new readers to explore our old content. I've seen a few people mention on this forum that they've sat down and read everything from the beginning again, and I hope things like the updated interface on certain issues will help to nurture that further in the future! Lastly, but by no means least, we're avoiding adding STCO's events to the timeline so that we've got somthing saved back for us to draw for the STC 30th/STCO 20th anniversary! Hope that makes sense Miru!

There's a triple duty of: a) Getting new readers up to speed with STC's run: the important stories and the general tone of the story b) Getting new readers up to speed with the bits they need to know for STC-O c) Not being boring

Cool though these are I hope people don't forgoe reading the actual comics before starting on STC Online. There's a lot of stellar material in that run that STCO is ultimately paying homage to.
Side note: this feature is pretty much what Cedric was going to be before I thought of Cedric.

The uniforms also helped them stand out more.

If the idea is to encourage people to look at the best and most important issues of the series, maybe the 'New to STC?' page on the site should have some key issue references (sort of like you do on this thread).

The timeline is no substitute for getting your hands on the actual comics themselves of course, but does serve as a good primer for those without access to (legal) copies of the originals. Part of what I've been doing with these annotations is providing that information about what issue numbers the panels refference and linkign that to the Wiki which has more info - it might spoil the flow to have all this text on the actual new to STC page, but maybe we could ask Mike nicely to link to this thread from there, so the information is there to new readers if they want to drill down, and its a way of introducing them to the forum

Inobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing, you could stick them at the bottom of the image, or underneath each reference…

So what does everyone think of the comic?

It's ok, I'm done.
Really like the colour work on that Mushroom village panel.

I'm liking it so far, it's been filling in the massive gap I have in regards to the original comics.

The real pain in the bum is all the stuff left out - like that villains panel, with Metamorphia and Grouchio and Nutzan. We had to do that because there wasn't enough room to give them panels for their stories, which means leaving out Metamorphia, a prominent B-List baddie and her story arc (she realises she was wrong and reforms) and leaving out the popular Zonerunner stories. Sob!

True, a consise history is always going to have bits left on the cutting room floor, but I think we've sailed a good ship in terms of at least touching on some of these points, and having sombody go "That Nutzan dude looks rad - I want to read stories with him in!" can lead onto discovering the zonerunner stories Given where we're up to in the STC timeline at present, what have we missed out that you'd like to have seen? personally I would have liked a "Sonic The human" Panel, but good luck explaining that to new readers in one frame!

If you want to know more about Sonic the Human, stay tuned to Sonic the Podcast! I always wonder how Robotnik captured Sonic and Tails in the first place.

Would like to see more of the Knuckles Metallix and Brutus but I can't see how Brutus would come back Robotnik smashed him in to pieces.

Actually reminds me that the Brutus and Brotherhood of Metallix stories, which kind of relied on the same underlying principle of a Robotnik creation gone rogue, happened concurrently. Makes me wonder if they ever interacted.

Zak's art on the Metallix panel is fantastic! I hope there's a textless version of these we'll get to see someday.

Wow, look at that all those Emperor's Metallixes. What a fantastic panel. Still, I think my favourite this week is Shay's. Those Brutus Badniks are brilliant. And the showdown between Robotnik and Brutus in the background there is great! Nice Tails in the foreground too, although I was a little confused as to why Sonic fighting the Amy and Johnny Brutus Badniks isn't there. I guess space limitations? It might look a little cluttered with all that going on!

Late to the party on this one (I had a birthday! Hush up!) but here's the latest update! ------------------------------------------- Art by Zak Simmonds-HurnSonic is joined here by the Chaotix crew for this retelling of the events covered in the story "The Return of Chaotix" taking place during issues #67-72, but Sonic actually first met the rogue robots as a group in " The Brotherhood of Metallix" taking place in issues #59-62, which followed on directly from the Chaotix making their debut and meeting Robotnik's creations along with knuckles during issues #53-58. Originally assembled by the Omni-Viewer (remember him?) in order to dismantle Dr. Robotnik's operations in "the Nightmare Country", this team of heroes operated mostly in the Special Zone and were self appointed guardians for the crazy dimension. Apart from " Omni", Chaotix consists of brainbox Vector the Crocodile, the super strong Mighty the Armadillo, stealthy ninja Espio the Chameleon, and the downright ditzy Charmy Bee. Due to the revisiting of Sonic and Robotnik's origins yet again via the time travel element in this story, you might want to check out panel #2 of the timeline again to see if you can now spot any hidden eater eggs that were tucked away before! Art by Pete MurphyFollowing the events of the Brotherhood of Metallix saga, Porker quit the Freedom Fighters in issue #76's " The Big Decision", and went to live in the Mushroom Hill Zone with the rest of the Emerald Hill Folk. Sonic acted like a bit of a hot head about the whole thing, but was only behaving so harshly towards Porker because he really didn't want him to leave. Surfice to say by the end of the story they were friends again and despite being effectivly "retired" in this story, Porker has in fact gone on to have many further appearances in the comic and become something of a sidekick for Knuckles, helping him explore and understand the ancient technology of the Floating Island. Not bad for the little pig from New Tek City! (But that's another story...) Art by Seumidh "Shay" MacDonaldThis panel plays a little bit fast and loose with what actually went down during the Brutus Coup attempt, what with Tails not actually being present for any of the story " Revolution," that began in issue #79 and saw Robotnik's second in command try to overthrow the dictator with his own army of loyal Badniks, let alone the climactic punch up between the robotic general and a battle suit wearing Robotnik! However, running concurrently with this story was a cluster of Tails strips starting with issue #79's " Grounded" through to issue #81's " Shock Tactics!" which included Tails defending the Casino night zone against attacks by the power mad machine's flunkies and did end with him heading off to help the rest of the freedom fighters at this battle, so consider this a teeny bit of artistic licence!

Makes me wonder if they ever interacted. I forget about Robotnik bringing him back in issue 130, I also forget about Violet Witchbrew bronging him back in issue 227. I surpose Roger Bodge could rebuild Brutus into another robot butler which will haywire.
