Er, sorry for being a party pooper but I think you need more than a 100 signatures to even gain SEGA's attention.

Why would you want to take the franchise backwards instead of forwards? If you miss the SatAM characters, read the Archie comic. There is nothing to be gained from reviving this old cartoon.

I thought there were rumours of a new Sonic toon being considered, but it would fit in with the games more.
I think that the old cartoons had slightly different atmospheres from the games were because the story of Sonic and his chums was so much less defined. These days Sega seem to know what they want from their mascot! Such a revival would make no sense to them.

Unless the petition showed there was a demand for it. Potentially.

The creative rights for this would be a nightmare to arrange - making it basically impossible from the off. Not to mention that there's little benefit in reviving a short lived cartoon series that's been dead for practically two decades and makes up a tiny proportion of the franchise. Especially since Sega had basically nothing to do with that cartoon to begin with.
In short, you might as well yell at the sea to stop the tide coming in - it'll have the same level of effect.

SatAm has been over for almost twenty years and the Sonic franchise is very different (i.e. there's now a story and a cast bigger than three guys) than it was in 1993. Why'd there be a sequel to it? Even a rebooted version would be pushing it.

i know its old...i just put the petition up for those who still had dreams of the series...a fans gesture, even the creator of the petition used the word “try” the petition is more a symbol of its fandom...

Never understood the romanticism attached to this series. It gets billed as being dark, mature and serious, despite having a French stereotype, ridiculous dialogue and the line "we must fight for our humanity" uttered by a squirrel. These petitions never achieve anything, they've been popping up on the Internet for years. Really not wanting to come across as overly negative or mean, but, like others, I don't even see what bringing it back would achieve. It finished around twenty years ago, we have a very different Sonic now.

Never understood the romanticism attached to this series. Lots of Sonic fans - especially in the States - saw it at an age where "it's the thing I like but dark!" would have a powerful appeal, and this came out early in the organised, online fandom so it got to dominate discourse. See also Ken Penders, he was doing Knuckles but it was all dark and he mentioned political stuff and it had complicated names. SatAm also ended after two years so we didn't get what Penders got, him sticking around and never leaving and fans realising "hang on, he's not very good". Let's be fair, I remember STC getting talked up online because it was dark and Sonic was a jerk and isn't that darker, and people back then looking down on most of Lew's strips for being silly. Then the fans got older and were able to appreciate the comedy strips too.

I only watched a couple of minutes of the SatAM show. I saw the Robotnik character model, thought "that's not very good" and so switched over. Therefore I'm not the best to judge whether it was any good or not. But the main problem with reviving the show is the supporting cast. Back then the only characters were Sonic, Tails and Robotnik so it made sense to flesh out the world and surround them with other allies and enemies. But now there are all sorts of Sonic characters that have appeared in the games that fans will expect to see in a new cartoon. It would be difficult to fit all the new characters around the SatAM ones (although I guess this is what the Archie comics do).
That, and the fact that the current kids into Sonic games wouldn't know a 20 year-old cartoon, means it makes more sense to start again with something new. Hopefully this touted Sonic Boom series will work out.
Just noticed that Charles said the same thing, only more succinctly, a few posts above. Oh well, I've typed it all now.

For me, I don't see why you don't just read the Archie comics. It's the same universe and characters, is it not?

For me, I don't see why you don't just read the Archie comics. It's the same universe and characters, is it not? Not entirely, it has the same basic root but the comics have had 18 more years to grow in, at this point, the only thing remaining from the Satam era is just the freedom Fighters. People seem to like these newfangled 'moving pictures'. Gasp, a Luddite... It's a bit funny to me, cause every time a new Sonic Cartoon is brought up there's always someone who want sit to include the Archie comics or be the missing third season of Satam. Even when Sonic X was announced there was those who kept demanding that SEGA should include the cast from Satam, some of them even started petitions to influence the development of the show. But at this point in time, it's more likely just to focus on Sonic and his friends like Sonic X, but with a different setting most likely rather then a 20 year old cartoon.
