Yknow that's actually not a bad idea.... I play Dragonvale, a game where you collect different kinds of dragon depending on their "element" combination, and to be honest I did wonder if Sega had considered a Chao version!!

Maybe a Sonic game in the vein of the classic Ninja Turtles arcade games?

You mean like Streets of Rage?
Nah, but there would be something fitting about Tails eating roast chicken out of a rubbish bin.
A free roaming Knuckles game where you explore Angel Island. Yes. I guess there would be robots I guess.

How about a VN of some sort, with a collection of character stories and varying outcomes to reach based on the decisions you make? They could all work towards an endgame, or a "Last Story" if you will, only in the more literal sense this time round. It would at least make a rare change from the many dodgy VNs that usually get put about.
Then again, that may well be the most terrible idea in the history of entertainment.

Sorry to be condescending, but I had to point it before someone else did: the classic ninja turtles arcade titles and Streets of Rage are both "beat 'em up" games. Also sometimes known as "Fighting Games" but that can get confusing because it's ambiguous whether you mean tournament fighters or a different of fighting game when you call them that. How about a VN of some sort, with a collection of character stories and varying outcomes to reach based on the decisions you make? So essentially, like a Choose Your Own Adventure book, but done as a visual novel? I love Choose Your Own Adventure books, but I don't think you could do that if Sonic were the main character, since you might run into the problem it seeming a little slow paced. Maybe if it were set in the right universe. Like, for instance, I could see that idea working best for a game based on SatAM (despite the fact that that would never happen, sans that one demo video, especially nowadays).
