I'd like the idea of Shortfuse and Super Sonic going head-to-head Someone said that in one of my old threads (might have been me actually) o and O it would put him to sleep alright....... by killing him, I don't think your meant to take that many. Methinks the fact that he was making a joke has somehow escaped you. I knew he was making a joke, I was trying to carry it on.

Although this isn't really about what new character I'd like to see, I'd like the idea of Shortfuse and Super Sonic going head-to-head at some point in the future. Obviously, Super would be the crap out of him, but I'd wager that Shortfuse is more well-equipped to battle Super Sonic than any of his previous foes. That would be a good fight. Super Sonic fighting Shortfuse when his armour has been temporarily supercharged by the Chaos Emeralds would be even better. I wouldn't mind seeing the Emerald thieves from The Takeover (Ms. Alpha, Mr. Beta, Mr. Gamma and Mr. Delta) again. They proved to be capable villains who actually posed a serious threat to the safety of the Chaos Emeralds in the story.

I think that my original suggestion for the Syndicate was that there were another dozen or so of them, which would include Zachary and Rouge and even Nack. But all that gave way to a much tighter story.

I suppose that fitting a larger number members into a group would be a bit awkward to manage, despite being visually impressive.

It's not really a character I'd like to see so much as a scenario. Maybe a quartet of enhanced Metallixes, the leader of whom is a black Neo Metal Sonic, appeared alongside the Pirate Omni-Viewer, explaining themselves as 'a contingency' devised by the Emperor Metallix in the unrealistic event of his defeat. They were specially built by the Brotherhood to have their own personalities, names and imaginations, and were activated to 'collect life form data' from the Egg Fortress before escaping on the Chaos explosion caused by Shadow.
Such a pity this is basically a carbon copy of Doctor Who.

Such a pity this is basically a carbon copy of Doctor Who. Maybe so, but a good idea is a good idea. It's an effective way to bring back the Metallix. I for one would like to see the Syndicate's return... under new management. Again, I push for Robotnik to get himself fixed up and plotting unimaginable acts of pure evil, like the good old days. Zachary will still be a member of the Syndicate 'council', but won't have as much power as he did. Since Rouge betrayed them, she won't be rejoining, and neither will Vichama. Nack could join them too, of course. I'm actually thinking against Grimer being in the Syndicate. His obsession with being Robotnik's lapdog has gotten to frightening levels, so Robotnik might just be plain disturbed by this. Besides, Zachary could make a better assistant than Grimer... although more treacherous.

Maybe having Grimer on the team would put him at odds with Zachary; Grimer would desperately want to serve Robotnik while Zachary would try using Robotnik to gain more power. It may make the story more interesting.

I wanna see the Brotherhood of Metallix face off against the Drakon Empire. Ed doesn't care for the idea though.

The Brotherhood was a large and powerful organization even when a single Metallix could pose a genuine threat to Sonic and his team. However, they were defeated with relative ease (Sonic pressing a button). I think that if the Brotherhod were to return, they should be a smaller, albeit more powerful group, much like the idea I mentioned above.
Ever since the Emperor Metallix appeared, I've considered them similar to the Daleks. What's to say that the Brotherhood didn't have their own "Cult of Skaro" style sect?

It was easy to press the button once it had been found, once its existence had been discovered. Those two things weren't so easy (for Sonic, at least. Robotnik could have finished the whole thing in the first episode).
Seeing as they sent Metallix models backwards through the time stream, it's worth considering that some of them could have been out of range of the self-destruct device. Might also explain what happened to the Pirate Omni-Viewer.

That makes sense. And those Metallix lost in time are somehow flung into either the future or and alternate time stream, where they upgrade theselves into a special organization and return to Mobius through the Pirate Omni parts they've discreetly integrated into themselves. ;D

There are any number of ways the Metallixes *could* be brought back. Thalia mentioned the idea a year or so ago, on this board I think, that some of the Metallixes assigned to guard the time stream (#70) could still have survived. But the Metallixes have been pretty thoroughly played out, if not in the comic than in a thousand fanfics and in people's own heads. It's more interesting to me to explore fresh territory people haven't considered. Original villains, or new approaches to old ones. As for Robotnik, he went mad for a reason. It would be cheating to just hit the reset button and have him somehow 'recover' from being a mute lunatic. But when he next returns (not for a few issues) he will be the main villain again. I'm pretty sure even devo will be psyched when he sees how.

Here's an idea for a new character appearing as the nemesis of the Chaotix on Mobius. A heavily built bulldog wearing sunglasses and a brown trench coat, his real name and back story are unknown. The only solid facts that any security services have are that he is a mercenary going by the name "Mad Dog." He has some sort of vendetta against the crew, and a previous battle with them led to his acquisition of a machine gun in the place of one of his arms.
Sound familiar? He's based on Wild Dog from Time Crisis. Feel free to use that if you want.

So long as he isn't Robotnik-Nega. If he was, he'd have to be handled phenomonally well.

you know how unconvincing you make that look, ed? along the lines of "move along, nothing to see here" levels of deception? I mean I know it's true but your wording suggests otherwise.

Is there even the smallest possibility that something survived Shadow's Chaos explosion in the Special Zone?
<cough>Lord Sidewinder</cough>
I can even imagine a semi-inventive way to explain his possible escape.

Tom: Well, I don't think I've ever lied to anyone on here. Sometimes I've chosen my words quite carefully indeed, sometimes we've changed things later to make me wrong in retrospect (although nothing all that significant springs to mind) but I've always tried never to lie. And I really don't know who Robotnik Nega is though I assume he's some kind of duplicate of Robotnik. Archie did something like this, I seem to recall, and the idea of evil clones interests me not a jot. I'm interested in the same Robotnik we know and love, mute and mad, beyond the end of his tether... perfectly primed...
Shazmas: Yeah, I said back when #233 was released that a few people would somehow escape the zone, mostly in appropriately ridiculous ways. I won't say yay or nay on specific people, but there are some ridiculous, though I think quite plausible, opt-outs. If I can ever get a free afternoon to attack the script for the artist...

Eggman Nega is an alternate universe version of the character from Sonic Rush, who is apparently more evil and chillingly polite & calm.
Except later games say he's a descendant of Eggman from the future and Blaze is also from the future. Because Sega hates continuity or something.

sometimes the future can be interpreted as an alternate universe... it's not a new science-fiction idea, although it can be a fun one. (of course it might just be a sega [censored]up)
