never bothered me, and I was a teenager, I used to go out my way to get it after school, but then I never did care what people thought about me. I woudn't let myself read it until I got home, and it would be quiet cause no one was home, I didn't want to be disturbed. thinking back, it was almost like a sacred ritual for me, lol

However, there are already a few in existence from 1994: Ravette Books collected #1-4 ("Spin Attack" - #1 cover) and #6, 8-10 ("Sonic Beats the Badniks" - #3 cover) as Sonic paperbacks, in addition to lesser-circulated Shinobi and Streets of Rage books (collecting the first story arc of each). Not by any means the greatest stories, but if the unlikely event that you ever come across these books, do take a closer look. (Don't take my word for it on those titles/covers, BTW - it could easily have been the other way round.) There were also two annuals, by the way, with original stories. The first one (1993?) included as its cover the first Sonic work Richard Elson ever did! I have a copy of 'Sonic beats the Badniks', all the way from New Jersey, USA. I also have that first Sonic annual that you mentioned Tom. Those original stories, including a Shinobi one too, were unmistakably STC-esque (plus it was obvious that Mr Elson had illustrated the first story and cover). I forget if I had STC#1 becore the annual, or vice versa. Gosh, that was 1993. That's such a long time ago. -Rich

Yeah you should scan them in Knux. I have read them before but since they are the last Sonic story (I think) before the reprints. It should be read by all STC fans.

I have a copy of 'Sonic beats the Badniks', all the way from New Jersey, USA. How did it get all the way over there? ;D I only have a later paperback reprint (retitled "Special") I found by accident at a car boot sale. So I have no idea when it was originally published, and under what premise it was reprinted. Although it seems pretty clear that it was either the end of 1992 or some point in 1993. Richard Elson's work in it, however, was produced at some point before any of his STC work.

Okay, news update. I was looking on my computer and found the whole of both of the Chaos and the Game Over Saga in really good scans. Anyway, now I just need a place to host them so if anyone has any suggestions then tell me.

Richard Elson's work in it, however, was produced at some point before any of his STC work. I bought it with a pile of early issues over Ebay. She must have either moved out there or had them shipped across - there were quite a few Boomers overseas, as you know. I bought that Sonic annual in late 1993 (around October/November at a guess) - memory serves me correctly this time as I acquired it when I was in a Comprehensive School book fair. I moved to the Comp in September 1993. I'm told that the cover of the annual was the first piece of Elson Sonic art - was it you who said that? Nigel wasnt a very confidant person by the sounds of things. I can see where he's coming from though, JayTee - most movie/videogame/cartoon series themed comics, especially ones exclusively printed here in our Green and Pleasant land, seem to last a few issues at most. Comics such as Earthworm Jim and The Dreamstone didn't last much over a year, if that. Egmont's 'Thunderbirds' comics lasted a little while - although they were reprints from the sixties magazine 'TV21', weren't they? Don't quote me on most of the above - i'm not exactly clued up when it comes to the comics industry. -Rich

I said it was the first Sonic piece Elson ever drew, but I don't know whether #7 saw print before that.

This (the online edition) is the closest we'll get to having it back (other than creator reunions eg Kitching/Elson on 2000AD) I'm afraid.

Besides, as far as I know Egmont doesn't publish comics, let alone new ones, any more.
