^Ah yes. Very thankful aren't we? Without Ed and the team we wouldn't even have this community of StC fans and this continuation. And all you can do is moan at them because they have things to do other than making the comic? Some people. If I were working on the comic I'd find it flattering that people were awaiting the next issue so eagerly

The new issues always seem to come along quite quickly to me. You just have to learn to forget about it for a while, and then it DOES come out and surprises you! ;D

I also fill the time with having a social life. But there are times when I just can't get Sonic out of my head which sucks because I want to think about other things.

Do you guys who work on the comic actually meet up or do you just do your work and then get it together over the net?

It's all done over the net, although some of us have met up occasionally - and I think Thalia and Rich Morgan live together at their university...

I haven't even had time to keep up with the existing submissions mail, Knuckles. I tend to avoid reading plot ideas that we haven't asked for just for the time issue. But we'll have to see how things go on the writing front. We'd definitely look at any pitches for non-Sonic Sega stuff. Esp. if you could find an artist.

Id love to write stuff too if ever asked to do so. Im sure there are loads of people who would have a bash at writing.

Hmm, I wouldn't mind having a crack at writing a Burning Rangers strip... Don't know any artists round 'ere that could draw it though. Bummer. And I really should give some consideration to my major English assignment due in 2 weeks... I'll get back to you.

So how does a script for a Comic work? Is it written in the same way as a script for a movie screenplay would be? The Dialogue like a play and then stage directon type things saying what action should be in drawing?

Basically the script tells the artist what to draw (ideally after discussing the plot with the artist) and the letterer what to write. I tend to redo the dialogue when it comes to lettering and we can see how much space we have and whether the continuity still flows as originally written.
Here, for example, is page 7 of "Drowned", the #224 Sonic story, which I have here on its lonesome. This page was written as a replacement to the original page 7. The original was really boring (an extended council meeting if memory serves) and Abby wasn't sure how to do the transport. So I suggested making it a big monster that would swallow Sonic. Once I said that, Abby had pretty specific ideas about the type of fish she wanted to use, which is reflected in the description (where it's really more a reference to anyone reading it than the artist). By the time we got to lettering, I couldn't find this page and figured it would be easier just to come up with new dialogue from scratch.
Oh, and the name Benvolio was never meant to be used by the characters. I just could never think up a proper name for him, and it was never really relelvant anyway (although I did intend the underwater outpost to be much more prominent in the 3-parter than it ultimately became).
PAGE 7.
1. Sonic, Porker and Benvolio are walking out onto a long strip of rock that goes out into the sea. Porker and Benvolio are stopping here, but Sonic is continuing to walk to the end.
CAPTION: SOON…
PORKER: WE’LL BE CONNECTED BY RADIO LINK SO WE CAN HELP IF YOU GET INTO TROUBLE.
BENVOLIO: ALL YOU NEED NOW IS A TRANSPORT TO WITHSTAND THE PRESSURE OF THE DEEP WATER…
2. Sonic stands on the end of the jutting piece of rock, wearing one of his ‘bored’ looks. He’s tapping his feet, and looking back to Benvolio and Porker. Consequently, he’s missing the huge great Angler fish thing that’s coming up behind him, mouth wide open.
PORKER: (possibly unseen, or ¾ back view) DON’T FORGET THERE’S LIMITED AIR DOWN THERE…
SONIC: PORKER, BUDDY, I’M READY FOR ANYTHING!
3. The fish scoops up Sonic in its mouth, maybe taking fragments from the rock with him. We might not see the whole creature though, not until…
4. Our big fish heading towards the ocean depths, Sonic in his mouth (which presumably is closed), the light of the Outpost behind him, and the darkness of the ocean before him. Or it could be staged differently, but you get the idea. Basically everyone just needs to point and go “wow, that’s a big cool fish!”

got ya, so you do it by a frame by frame structure. What you would like to appear in each frame.
cool. If I ever get time enough away from collage work I might have a go.

I think we all use Photoshop. I did some painting in my first Amy strip a few years ago. And Zak has been painting his strips until now, but all current work is computer coloured.

10 regular artists (some who have or will write as well on occasion), 2 regular writers and various people doing other projects for us.
