No-one else seems to be mentioning this, so I might as well. The new CGI Scarlet series is out now, airing on CITV during Ministry of Mayhem on Saturday mornings. What does everyone think of it?

Heard about this some time ago, but you've just reminded me of it. Havn't seen it yet though, didn't know it was airing.

I loved the original, great stories, great characters, greatly well made. Alas, the new one may look stunning, but for such an expensive project you'd think they'd get some half-decent stories in...

All the same the CG is very very well done, unlike most shows that use it.
However the original still pwns.
You know....I seem very similar to Scarlet in one BIG way...
*100 ton anvil lands on head*
*survives....albeit in great pain*
See?

I don't know about this, usally re-makes of old things are bad. Guess I should see for myself. I still love that thing from the old series though.
"This is the voice of the Mysterons."

"This is the voice of the Mysterons." Brace yourselves- they miss that line out! And Captain Black has lost all sense of mystery- he talks like a normal guy! "Farewell, Scarlet!" and "Soon I will have destroyed the planet, and you cannot stop me!" Out with creepy alien assassin, in with corny evil maniac. Snorrrrrrrrrre.

Brace yourselves- they miss that line out! Thanks for reminding me. They also don't kill Scarlet at the end of every episode.

Brace yourselves- they miss that line out! NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Wasn't Captain Black normal at the start of the original series? I thought he was normal and good, then turned all evil and creepy by the Mysterons. Sweet Jeebus, I'm surprised how good my memory is!

Wasn't Captain Black normal at the start of the original series? I thought he was normal and good, then turned all evil and creepy by the Mysterons. Uh huh, it's just that even after his possession my the mysterons he still talks normal, acts normal and looks normal (no deformed face). The only difference is that he's a bit eviler. Oh yeah, and I don't think the Mysteron leaders on Mars even talk to the 'Earth men' at all...

Oh yeah, and I don't think the Mysteron leaders on Mars even talk to the 'Earth men' at all... Yes they do. At the beginning of each episode of the old series, the mysterons used to talk to the 'Earth Men' on Spectrum, about who they would kill and whatnot, which doubled as the opening credits. Pretty useful for saying how ugly the chracters looked in the beginning. From what I know, Captain Black was their undercover and cover-up bloke. He had to kill anyone they wanted to recreate, and he also had to cover up any accidents they caused. Sorta like the FBI.

Naaaah, just the utter destruction of an out-and-out classic... ...but also some beautiful CGI! (although the characters move like junkies)
