Shinken? It is a Japanese sword. I am not 100% sure what the difference between a Shinken and Katana is, but I have heard that they are shaped slightly differently due to the Shinken being used for practise only.
And Hyperdude, you are probably confusing Shinken with Shurikens. Shurikens are throwing stars.

"shinken" is a Japanese term which means 'live blade'. It's a term mostly used in Iaido, I think. Yeah, they are used mainly for practice, but are very deadly.
