Wow. They look like Daleks. Odd, I thought they were Daleks...

Meh, I had to leave halfway through Episode 2, so I missed everything after the sun filter. Anyone willing to write up a brief spoiler text for everything after that point?

I liked episode 2 but I don't think it was as good as episode 1. The story was abit dull. The fact that the face of cassandra wanted them all to die was abit stupid. Yeah maybe someone else. Ah you forget that Cassandra was a 'pure' human obsessive, so if she could kill a bunch of aliens, some of which humanity had 'mingled' , it all makes sense. Not to mention the whole compensation culture thing. "This, legend tells is an I-Pod" Cracked me up that did, and I want that pyschic paper dammit!!!

Ep 2 was splendid! The make-up was good, the effects were great and the acting was good but most importantly of all, the script was bursting with fun and exciting ideas, and there were strong elements of action and excitement. Vast improvement over the lacklustre premiere. My only concern is the slight overuse of Indiana Jones style action crunches. It's good for brief periods of suspense, but there must be better ways to build up the suspense. I thought the commentary on the compensation culture in this episode was much better. Shame the Last Human bit the dust though... she could have made a fun recurring villainess.
Ep 3 looks awesome.

Annoyingly, I never get to see the 'next episode' previews...my dad always turns it over when they come on (doesn't like to be spoiled). He does the same with '24'!

Episode, Hyperdude. Episode. Anyway, in response to Tom's question (was it?), no, I'm too deprived to have access to BBC3, or any other channel than 1 to 4, for that matter.

I thought 2 was good but not great - a bit too divorced from current life, which is what I like about the few Whos I've seen. It looked fabulous though, all those aliens.

A variety of rich people go to a hugely expensive hotel to see an exclusive event.
I don't think it was too far divorced from current life. Maybe not your life, but...

A variety of rich people go to a hugely expensive hotel to see an exclusive event. I don't think it was too far divorced from current life. Maybe not your life, but... I agree. Despite the fact that it was working metaphorically (sci-fi's strongest suit in any event) as opposed to literally, I thought this felt much more socially relevant than the premiere. Particularly the notions of the compensation culture, the concerns over racial purity, the sly comments on plastic surgery, and the quiet epiphany of the relative ephemerality of existence.

you have a very valid point there.
christopher eccelston has always said that dr who is good for people by telling them to seize life and shake it. I suppose the russell t davies script brings that out and makes very valid points at current social issues.

Yeah, I guess. I meant more of a literal locale of reality. I'll always find it more entertaining to see aliens on the rampage in a Debenhams than aliens on the rampage on some alien planet.

I'd like to see David Jason as the Doctor. Let's see an old guy take a whack at it again. (And that guy's a great actor with a serious range, he would excell at the role) David Jason an old guy. ;D Then again I suppose he isn't exactly young. I would disagree with that one, he's too tight-casted to his role as Del-Boy if you know what I mean. Then again he has played good parts in A touch of frost and one of the latest ITV dramas diamond geezer.

yeah I think it needs to be a younger actor of around the 40s to appeal to a universal audience.

Then again he has played good parts in A touch of frost and one of the latest ITV dramas diamond geezer. Jason is a legend, and hardly capable of being typecast as anyone. He may as well be typecast as Frost, Duckula, Danger Mouse, Granville... Although I suspect they'll want to go for sexual chemistry with Piper, I think an older actor would work fine.
