Not as funny... He's not a strong enough character to stand on his own.. If it wasnt the popularity of Friends this show would of been canceled fast.

It's practically dead in the USA. Started out godd, but I prefer Friends all the way. I mean, Joey as a solo character? GOD!

I've not seen it, but yeah, soloing a character is weak.
It's a bit like making a Sonic the Hedgehog game, and then casting Shadow as the lead >.>

We need cameos of the Friends crew. I think it should be like an episode where Joey & co go to Ross and Rachels wedding. Joey is the only character never to get married lmao. But yeah, I do like Joey, but it's like something is missing. He's not the same character as in Friends, something's different but I can't put my finger on it.

The main problem with Joey is that it's gone and started out with a character that cannot support a show on its own, a weak supporting cast of cookie-cutter characters and no solid premise.
No, actually, I'll take a step back and point out that this is a spin-off from a sitcom that ended on a ten-year low (and never truly stood up as great in the first place), which has dragged along the writers who can't get a job elsewhere, as well as the weakest character of the cast - a character of few dimensions that had been explored in Friends right to the bottom of a very shallow bucket.
By contrast, Fraiser assembled a strong stable of writers, took one of Cheers' strongest characters and brought new dimensions to him with a premise that continuously created dramatic tension and humour. A highly talented cast with equally well-written, fully-textured parts (no cookie cutters detectable around here - even the DOG shows more character than anyone in "Joey"). Clever writing. And let's not forget those plentiful laughs - the only time I laughed during the Joey pilot was when the title character fell off the back of a seat, and you can hardly work a series around that.
So I have no hope for Joey, and never intend to watch it again. The whole point of a spin-off is to pick out the elements of an existing show that can work on their own - this one ignored that principle by choosing a weak character and executing it poorly (although admittedly there are no characters remaining in Friends that merit further exploration, as most of them have already been developed as far as they can go). I love Frasier even though I've very little interest in Cheers. Angel is an excellent series that does everything Buffy could never do. But Joey stinks, and tarnishes the few memories I have left of ever enjoying Friends.

Oh, well, Tom summed up everything I was going to say perfectly.
The series just feels rather weak to me, but its better than most of what Five shows anyway. Last resort viewing for me.

I don't have Five, so Joey-watching is unavailable for me. I still think Gunther should have got the spin-off instead. >_>

I strongly suspect that a show revolving around Marcel the monkey would have been better.

I strongly suspect that a show revolving around Marcel the monkey would have been better. The Duck and Goose have to be co-stars. Then they have a show worth showing!

Well, if it replaced anything that is on 5 right now, then it is defantly worth showing.
In fact, all daytime TV should be replaced by a still picture, possiably of a fish.

Seriously? I think I know what's missing from Joey, there's no focus on any of the other characters apart from him. Like, he's in every scene whereas in Friends it would alternate if you get me? I know the show is about him, but still they should do stuff with the other characters.

I know the show is about him, but still they should do stuff with the other characters. They try, by having the other characters have mini stories. But the problem is the other characters are not interesting. On friends, each of the 6 had different personalities, interesting ones... Joey doesnt have that other 5 interesting characters. Any show based on the "dumb" character of another show is gonna suck. Could anyone see a Cliff Clavin show lasting?

I was dead disappointed with Joey. I'm a huge friends fan, even in series 10, when it was clearly running out of steam it still managed to get a good few laughs, usually from Chandler. I think Tom had it pretty much spot on, this is just the writers' desperate attempts to keep in the limelight with a character that has no distance left in him. I've not seen any of it since the early few episodes cos I just got bored of it.
Makes me wonder though, when Friends had just finished for good it was rumoured Channel 4 had chosen not to air Joey themselves because they wouldn't pay what Warner Bros were asking for it, makes me wonder they knew all along it was gonna bomb, and end up in the TV wasteland known as channel five!
