I thought it would be interesting to start a thread for the general chatting and sharing of music. I suppose as far as sharing goes I should suggest we don't share whole albums maybe a track or two should suffice. And if you don't like it, you can Poke Monkeys. It'd be nice to know what genres everyone's into, really.

Musically, I like most things but tend to like more instrumental music. Lyrically, I think I prefer music in French instead of English, just because I don't think I can usually fully appreciate lyrics in English because I don't always fully understand them (especially if the lyrics are sung with a strong accent). Recently I've been listening to Sebastien Tellier a lot (as he's representing France in Eurovision) also Christophe Willem, he has quite a high-pitch voice which is sort of feminine, but the content of his lyrics is usually quite interesting. La Ritournelle, the title sort of means old story, or tale. Jacque a Dit, title means 'Jack said' I lived on the Moon by Kwoon, random French band I like. I also like that band, Smithy, although 'Young Bride' sounds like a familiar song, I think I've heard it before.

Yes, Sebastien Teller is excellent.
Actually, through my recent love for dance, I've been listening to a lot of french stuff. They do it best.

Currently digging Guillemots and The Clash. Oh, and Laura Marling. Q compared her to Kate Nash, which is downright cruel. Laura Marling sings about mental illness and does not make me want to spork out my eardrums. On the subject of whoring one's music, here is my MySpace music page. Yes, Sebastien Teller is excellent. Actually, through my recent love for dance, I've been listening to a lot of french stuff. They do it best. Have you heard any Serge Gainsbourg?

Have you heard any Serge Gainsbourg? I have, he's cool. Anybody like Robert Johnson? Yep. Prefer Django Reinhardt, though. Not that the two are similar really... but check him out regardless.

I saw Down last night, they were pretty awesome, if you're into stoner metal that is. Much better than in 2006 when the singer fell off the stage due to being so drunk. <_< www.down-nola.com/www.myspace.com/downnola

I'm currently listening to the Fabriclive 36 mix CD by James Murphy and Pat Mahoney.
That and the excellent Does It Offend You, Yeah? CD
And no, Tikal, I haven't. But I'll remedy that.

Got the DFA remixes vol 2 off a friend, listening to that. Very mellow.
(This is actually coming like another "what did you just listen to?" thread, which wasn't really my intention...)
I also recently (finally) got ahold of Serj Tankian's recent solo effort ("Elect the Dead") and I'm wondering what to expect from it...

I also recently (finally) got ahold of Serj Tankian's recent solo effort ("Elect the Dead") and I'm wondering what to expect from it... It's... ok... it's kind of like poor System of a Down songs, really. I was all set to see him on 1st April but he postponed the tour until September (no it wasn't an April Fool's gag). <_< I'm learning this song for an ELP tribute band that I've got an audition for. It's quite hard. ._.

Been listening to my fave albums of the year so far. Earth's "The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull" Psychadelic guitar nonsense. Very mellow, relaxing, and awesome. Song is called Engine of Ruin www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxblsOjBdkcAscension of The Watchers' "Numinosum" Side project from Burton C Bell of Fear Factory. Industrial/gothic/accoustic/electronic blah blah blah. Dead [censored]ing good. There aren't any decent enough examples on youtube. Mike Oldfield's "Music of the Spheres" Buy it or cut your [censored]ing ears off. Song: Animus www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJfBvzTOnVkListening to Warning's first full-length album, The Strength to Dream... DOOOOOM!!!!!! Much better than their second album, in which every song sounds exactly the same. >_< Shut up, Watching From A Distance is superior. Serj Tankien's album is mint.

Pfft, even the drum fills are the same on each song! Footprints is awesome, though.
