I studied the issue for a clue, and all I can see is
SPOILERS, I guess - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Her on a monitor in what LOOKS LIKE Pumpkin Hill, looking suspicious. Hmm.

I reacon that she is stealing a Chaos Emerald so Shadow can do Chaos Control once he wakes up. And Chaos Emeralds are always a good thing to have around.

She's in a stasis panel?
Okay, I guess enough time has passed since the last issue that I can admit it:
(Spoilers, sorta):
Rouge is in Haunted Hill, as a few people picked up. Originally, the Knuckles run was scheduled to start an issue earlier (or the Sonic 2-parter an issue later) so now they don't quite coincide. That's why I dropped the Data Zone teaser in to explain Rouge's absence.
(/Sorta spoilers)

Heh, to anyone who doesn't undersand Ed's "Stasis tube" coment, I originally put in my post that the person in the tube on the monitor to the left is Rouge... but it was tails. I was being a moron.
Mmm.... two Rouges...

Blue cross sale on back braces?
Seriously, most of the mobian lot have gravity defyingly large heads as it is. That coupled with Rouges ...'assets' ...well...by rights she should fall on her face

She falls into one of those female game character stereotypes, Amy's the "obsessed with main character", Cream is "pointless small child" and Rouge is "skimpy girl". All makes perfect sense to me

Rouge is a fox. Well, more accurately, she's a bat, but she's also a fox. What will Tails think?

In a desperate and belated endeavour to divert this topic to a more wholesome region, I shall reiterate my personal interpretation of Rogue's activities, that I earlier posted on the official issue discussion thread:

If you insist, curious interloper, gather your cohorts before my seat and I shall regale you with a slight modicum of my inexhaustible, sage wisdom and lucid introspection into the rumour and myth-obscured past...
...when the potency of the fantastic Chaos Emeralds successfully enabled the Echidna and the Chaos-suffused Grand Antecedents to engage in a brutal consquest of Mobius, many of that race were siezed in a convulsion of paganism, collapsing before the emeralds and worshipping them as avatars of their gods to grant the race divine power. Cults of the Gems mushroomed throughout their entire race, and expanded until they threatened to overwhelm the Echidnas' formal official religion with their obsessive entrancement by those glimmering jewels. However, when the Drakons eventually retaliated centuries later and eradicated all traces of the Echidnate Dominion over Mobius and drove the few survivors into exile and nigh-extinction, the spectres of a few of the senior priests of these Cults of the Gems endured beyond their mortal frames. Cheated of an eternal reign of absolute power, these ghosts were now seized by loathing of the Emeralds they had formerly worshipped as pagan gods and they degenerated to effective banshees, prowling the cosmos and wailing their paens of hatred of the Chaos Emeralds to the empty void. Eventually, they encountered the curious and inscrutable astronomical phenomenon that we recognise as the Plot Hole. Tumbling into this channel, the phantoms were discharged into our realm and infused within the babbling chatter of the internet, where they believed that they could wreak the most disruption. Such electrical poltergeists now derive their punitive pleasures from corrupting all references to the Chaos Ermengbaalds (can you perceive it? The infernal wretches did it again!) on the internet, their most popular method being garbling the phrase's spelling.
;D

I guess she must have died off panel.
It happens sometimes with these comic things; not the writer's fault.

If Rouge has been killed off, they have lost themselves a valuable reader.
